islate totally sucks, not what apple would like, sounds like a chalkboard.
ipad is a very apple like name. More consumer friendly, sounds better than slate, and is much hipper.

go ipad!

How much does it cost to fill trademark a whole bunch of trademarks all over the world. How much does a shelf company cost to set up. Add a few demain name registrations in there as well?

Say what $1k maybe even $10k?

Apple likely has 100's of ideal trademarks in shelf companies under all sort of executive names. 10's for for this project alone, then a whole bunch left over from the lets turn this into a phone projects.

iSlate and iPad just don't seem like the answer and a little too easy to find.
Odd that iPad was applied only really recently and by the same shelf company widely published on rumor sites.

It wont be iPad : maxi pad , female thingy, just not good.

It wont be iSlate: there is the website slate.com. too known.

iTablet is already used by another company.

Honestly, i'm not sure what its gonna be called.

didn't the name iPad 1,1 appear about a year ago in files along with iPhone 2,1 when we didnt't know it was the 3GS as well as iPhone 3,1?

How do you (and others) think like that?

So if iPad = Maxi Pad, what does Message Pad or Note Pad come up as in your mind? Is a Mouse Pad a rodent hygiene product to you?

ipad?

you guys are nuts, it is a company trying to trademark their business name, I.P.A.D. definitely reading too much into this one.

iPad for sure

my money is deffinately on iPad. Sorry - but iSlate doesnt sounds very apple-ish to me. iSlate sounds clunky and akward.

Besides, iPad is a very obvious choice because it is so similar to 'iPod', making the product immedietly far more familar to all the millions of iPod users.

It's looking like the iPad is just the smaller version (dual screen iPod Touch) while the larger single screen version is the iSlate, Apple Reader, iCanvas whatever.

And then there's the MacBook Touch. If it's anything like the mockups, it'll steal the show off the iPad and/or iSlate. Way up there in price point too.

So consider the possibility of THREE new tablet products that we're trying to guess the names of, not just one. The iPad being just the smallest one, a variation of the iPod. The two smaller ones running iPhone OS while the bigger one runs OSX.

I really hope it's not called an i anything. iNames are OLD.

I'd rather they push it into their computer range with a name like MacPad or MacTouch or something.

"Ooh - is that a MacPad?"
"No. It's the MacPad Pro - it's got the OLED screen and Lightpeak connections."

In my native language, a dumb guy is called "pad". Owning an "iPad" will be a social disaster

i think the "Apple tablet" seems like a pretty good name to be honest :D none of this i" nonsense. though i admit its not particularly unique
