So Anyone think ATT/T-Mo will allow grandfathered unlimited data users to have unlimited LTE data ?

Seeing how fast LTE 4G is on Verizon, i am really looking forward to the att LTE iphone, (see link below to see the ThunderBolt LTE 4G speeds) hopefully att will give us these speeds in 2012 with a LTE iphone!:eek::apple:

LTE would be their excuse to charge an extra $15 a month for the speeds. Just watch by next summer.

Yes.
I think I've seen someone post a screen cap of their Inspire 4G with an unlimited data plan that was transferred from the iPhone.
When 4G is fully out, you probably won't be seeing those speeds.

Inspire is not LTE 4G , it is HSPA+ limited to 14.4Mbps

Little to no chance, IMO

AT&T will state that the unlimited was for 3G and down users and that this new wireless spectrum requires new plans

They want to get people off their unlimited plans PERIOD...especially the ones on it now as they know that they are the people who prob will hit the caps and get them money

I'm not sure about the LTE but I am an owner of a white 32GB iPhone 3GS PURCHASED 10/09 with Unlimited Data. My upgrade for a new phone started I'm 2/11. I am however, waiting for iPhone 5 later this year. I went to an AT&T retail store in NJ to ask if my Unlimited Data would be grandfathered when I choose to upgrade my iPhone 3GS I was told yes.

Doubt it. They'll state its a new service.

This will be a repeat when 2G iPhone plans were invalid for the new 3G iPhone.

2G Plan = $20/month = Unlimited data + 200 texts

Transformed into:

3G Plan = $30/month = Unlimited data + 000 texts

Which is now:

A. DataPlus = $15/month = 200 MB
B. DataPro = $25/month = 2 GB

4G will very likely be tiered and you'll need to ditch the 3G unlimited plan, no doubt.

Yeah it will be a new plan with a new structure for service and cost. There is no chance that the grandfathered plan will carry over.

The manager of the AT&T store at the Newport Centre Mall in Jersey City, NJ told me that whenever I update my phone to a new iPhone release my plan will remain the same.

There's a difference between upgrading your iPhone and keeping the same data plan, and opting in to a whole new type of data.

Because you unlimited 2G/3G data plan wont be compatible with their LTE Data if you get a phone that utilizes that service.

So unless the iPhone 5 stays 3G THEN I'm screwed. Unless, I opt for an iPhone 4 when they go on clearance.

This is like asking the manager of an all you can eat buffet if you can come back tomorrow for a free breakfast.

Yes it is

I am still on an unlimited 3G plan as well, there is no guarantee it will always stay unlimited. As far as 4G goes, I am sure there will be new data structures and pricing structures for this service. When I had the original iPhone, my data plan was $20/month, unlimited. The 3G went up to $30 for unlimited. I doubt at&t will have an unlimited option for 4G. So, in short, if you want 4G, you're going to have to pick a whole new plan.

Leaked LTE doc for att

Unlimited will not be taken down as those that have it will keep it

But when LTE comes out in the future, AT&T won't just let the unlimited crowd come onto it.

They will tell people that if they want LTE, they will need to get a plan for it as it is a NEW service....I know, it isnt necessarily.
