Bought it online. Too lazy to go to the store. (I say that now, we'll see what I do on the 29th.)

I'm planning to buy the Family Pack of Tiger (£70 edu price, nice!).
My question is:

I don't have a DVD drive in my desktop G4 but I do in my Powerbook, is there a way to use this drive to install Tiger on to the desktop?

Now that Apple has announced a release date, I've already made plans to go to my local Apple Store for the Tiger launch party and to purchase Tiger.

I placed a preorder at Apple Store yesterday!
Cant wait to get my hands on it... :)

Its a total rip-off at 1190,- NOK (~188 USD), but what the heck...

Amazon.com

I pre ordered from Amazon.com as I usually do with books.
Amazon.com is offering a $35 rebate on the product.
If you use the AMCOM credit card you get I believe 3% back at the end of the year. I think they still offer $25 off the first use of the card.
I purchase my chess software from Amcom because the price offered is way cheaper than any store price.

I seem to be the "odd-man-out", because I really don't feel any urgency to buy Tiger. I don't think the new features will impact my computing at all. Spotlight seems like a gimick to me - how hard is it to do a search with the current OS? Not hard at all. Ummm....I cannot stand widgets....hate those things....it's like having 10 programs running in the background....ick!

I have some plans for my installation of Tiger.

I have a new 2.5" 100 GB HD (at 5400 RPM). Currently this drive is sitting in a firewire case. I also contains backups of my music, Home Folder, and videos. Will Be installing Tiger on this drive. The 100 GB drive (Waikiki) will replace the existing 20GB HD in my TiBook (Waipahu/Waipahu). Waipahu(HD) will be recrissened Waikiki, and Waikiki will be recrissened Waipahu (however this will occur before the installation of Tiger as to not cause problems with volume labels. For a short time before Tiger is up and running (approx 3 hours) I will be running OS9, off of my iPod (Waimea) just to have some uber powers before installation.

The new Wiakiki will become a backup drive, possibily in FAT32 to allow easier use on PCs (like my roomates/family). Waimea will begin to store videos again, and Waipahu will be one of few TiBook 500s with a 100 GB HD, Running Tiger.

BTW, All this will probabily be done on Thursday the 28th in front of Joey, CSI, ER, The Daily Show, and Family Guy, or Friday the 29th in front of Star Trek: Enterprise, JAG, 8Mile.

TEG

I preordered as soon as I saw Apple.com's announcements, around 10AM EST yesterday morning. It's a great deal with the edu discount at $69. Funny thing is that it's going to come out cheaper than the copy of iWork 05 I bought a few months ago at retail price. Looking forward to Tiger.

Ordered yesterday along with Turbo Tax Deluxe -- both will ship together for a 4/29 arrival.
It's an unusual time to buy Turbo Tax. Most people buy it between December and early April, and then sales dry up after U.S. Tax Day.

You are actually in the majority of Mac users, but people who ARE buying it as soon as they can are more likely to post in this thread.

After a month or so of almost no computer use (I've been renovating my house, desperately trying to get all the stuff done before child #2 arrives mid-June or before), I logged on the see that Tiger's release date was set. Excellent!

I am going to wait to order Tiger for my iMac. I will use my developer copy for my PowerMac (so I don't need to order one for that), and I'm going to buy a new PB (and finally put my Lombard out to pasture) once they're shipping with Tiger (I'll order on Release Day, presuming they start shipping with 10.4 then, or perhaps I'll wait a short while to be sure).

Perhaps the self-employed use it year-round for quarterly tax payments?

Pre-ordered it from the Apple edu on-line store yesterday.

I'd been telling myself I was going to wait for a few weeks to make sure any major bugs got shaken out first - but I never stick to those sorts of resolutions. :D

Sure there is, just use Target Disk Mode.
