Would you want an indicator light on the iPhone if there was an option to run it off?

I think it's handy for times you aren't close enough to the phone to hear it ring. Set the phone by the computer, take a shower and see a notification light of some sort that let's you know you missed a call or text. Maybe I like it because my droid has it and I'm used to it. My wife doesn't seem to be bothered by her iphone not having it. If apple does implement some sort of notification light hopefully it can be turned off for those who don't like it.

As long as we're discussing hardware blackberry features that we may or may not want added to the next-gen iPhone, here's one I personally would like: a magnetic holster sensor. I actually think this feature is more likely to be integrated than the LED given the introduction of the iPad 2's smart covers.

I use a slip style case with my blackberry. It can sense when it's in the case and will autolock / unlock when put in or removed from the case. While it's in the case I have it set to ring louder (assuming that it is going to be in my pocket and will be harder to hear) and to vibrate twice instead of once. The best part is that if you get a new message it can be set to open automatically when removed from the holster. Because of that I can feel the vibration for a new message, pull the phone out of the case, read the message, and return it to the case all without having to press any buttons. It's a nice little timesaver that I think the iphone could benefit from.

This could be possible. It would be neat if they did this, because they did already make it possible with the iPad 2. I'm excited to see what they are going to do this year. I hope I'm not disappointed. Again.

As for the light, I do wish they would add this. I find it annoying having to press the home button to see if you have any notifications. And even then you won't know if you have mail unless you unlock the phone.

I can see them doing some of the magnetic holster features, but I highly doubt they would allow customization of notifications on that level. I used to have a BB as well, and I miss being able to customize my sounds into profiles depending on the situation I was in. I really, really, miss that, probably more than anything else about bb.
