I love the design of the iPhone 6,7,8. Do you think the design will survive and we can buy a iPhone 9 Plus with the same design next year?

funny, to me the X still looks very much like the design language of all iphones since the 6.

You're correct. It's still very reminiscent of the 6 design with the chassis and form Factor, but much more refined. The major changes obviously being with the glass and stainless steel, display and smaller form.

The iPhone 6 is the best-selling smartphone ever. I dislike the design, but in fairness, it felt comfortable to hold and is the lightest among 4.7" models.

You can pick them up for $200 at Best Buy as a prepaid. For me, what is the point? iPhone SE looks nicer, $50 cheaper, and is as powerful as the 6s.

Hard to live with any iPhone with only 1 GB of RAM in 2017 because iOS is becoming resource hungry as Android when it comes to true multi-tasking.

The lukewarm reception to iPhone 8 already tells you the answer.

iPhone 8 will likely be on sale through 2019-2020, the same way iPhone 6s is still on sale.

That's plenty of time to transition to the X design language.

Seems like this is more about the 6-like design vs. the 6 specifically or in particular.

I just hope we don't get XS, XI or 11.

Time to ditch the numbers and just go for "the new iPhone" as with Macs etc.

The replacement cycle and tech updates for Mac and iPad are longer than iPhone. Apple will continue to use numbers with iPhone to encourage annual replacement.

iOS doesn’t have true multitasking.

id like to think the 8 is the end of the design (4th year, figure the 4/4S/5/5S werent THAT diff so you could think of apple really doing 4 year design cycles) but apple also likes to be so lazy with design that they run things so long until they are outright offensive, so it wouldnt surprise me one bit if they run the design again.

but you know what? even if they upgrade the 8 series to look like the x, the x has the same ultra boring ass curved sides just like the 6, so we are going to be stuck with that same side/chassis design for AT LEAST several more years. how lazy. i mean the x is the new design language for the foreseeable future, and its recyling the same played out curved sides since the 6...weak.

I just hope the iPhone isn't going to become their new Nano. It's long! It's square! The clip! Buhbye clip! It's tapered! It's flat! It's all touch screen! Wait we need a button!

A good source has told me the iphone 9 will be in SE form with edge to edge OLED screen, Iphone X will add a + and Iphone 8 will keep the 4.7 and +.

Nope. That design was dead as soon as the X was released. No longer needed.

Who knows for sure? Did anyone think that the 5/5s design would return after the 6 came out? It may never be used for a flagship model again, but it could be used again for a "budget" iPhone.

The bottom line is that anything that anyone here says is just a guess.

Or is this design done? I love my iPhone 8 so I would get an iPhone 9 prolly.

I envision the iPhone 9 will be just like the iPhone 8 design. Except, with all the bezel on top, they could incorporate the TrueDepth sensors on top, and keep TouchID, in the same phone. So FaceID becomes standard across their brand.

“iPhone X” will continue to be its own premium line, much like Apple Watch Edition.
