So, not safety issues, per se, as in an unsafe product --- just simple paranoia about showing off your X in your daily environment.
I get that. I would also make the choice to leave my phone out of sight, when there are those who might "sketch" around, a little. Those would be rogue artists, I guess... o_O or those who wear Sketchers. I fear them, too. :D

But then, an ugly, stickered-up case on your X would take care of appearances, IMHO.

I’m not sayin the iPhone X itself is unsafe!

But yea that’s a good idea putting a case on it or something so it’s less noticeable.

The design is dead. They will sell the 8 and 8 plus as the entry level and ditch the iPhone 7.

The iPhone X style is the future. Face ID and no home button.

Yea I'd have to say that's logical, however who knows with Apple.

Next year could also be a full S year, with the 8s and Xs, and the following year would bring the 9 and 11.

Most people thought that the 7 was going to be a redesign because of the S/new design 2-year cycle... It wasn't.

Most people though that the 5/5s design was dead after the 6 and that Apple would never release another 4" phone... They released the SE

People thought the 8 or "Edition" would be the re-design, released alongside the "7s", and that the 6s would be discontinued this year... nope.

There's nothing wrong with speculating and inevitably some of the speculation will prove to be correct, but it's silly for every armchair analyst to pretend that they have Apple's moves figured out a year in advance and their guesses are fact.

Incorrect. The design never died. Proof? Sales of 8 and 8plus.

I assume there will be an X and X plus, as well as one cheaper model with LCD and home button.

There won’t be any more with the 6/7/8 design. It was tired with the 7.

Who knows for sure? Did anyone think that the 5/5s design would return after the 6 came out? It may never be used for a flagship model again, but it could be used again for a "budget" iPhone.

The bottom line is that anything that anyone here says is just a guess.

They’ll keep the 8 around next year as the cheaper model, but I think Apple was pretty clear on their design language moving forward.

Well clearly Apple has a distinctive strategy of offering a high end device like the X and a less expensive model like the 8. I wouldn’t mind if they “refreshed” the 8 for next year. Similar design but slightly different while the X continues to be bezel and button free with hopefully a notch elimination strategy coming very soon.

No one knows for sure if there will ever be a new model with that design, but it's safe to say that it will live on as the most widespread design for years to come.

I think iPhone 8 series's are the last generation having home button and big bezels.

iPhone X design is the future from now on...

The replacement cycle and tech updates for Mac and iPad are longer than iPhone. Apple will continue to use numbers with iPhone to encourage annual replacement.

Absolutely. Because Apple has to show some type of degradation with the older model iPhones superseded by the newer iPhone models. And the way by doing that, is using the numbering system to indicate the older models. The numbering system is an integral role to the iPhone line up, and likely always will be.

Reactions: KONVICTED
Ming Chi Kuo just issued a note to investors that the 2018 iphones are predicted to be three devices:
  1. a 6.1" TFT-LCD iPhone with full screen, notch, no bezels, no Home Button, FaceID
  2. a 5.8" AMOLED iPhone with full screen, notch, no bezels, no Home Button, FaceID
  3. a 6.1" AMOLED iPhone with full screen, notch, no bezels, no Home Button, FaceID
The iPhone 6 class iPhone design is predicted to be abandoned by an analyst with the best track records of anyone on the planet. This, however, is NOT to be taken as truth. THIS IS SPECULATION FROM an analyst with a very serious but not completely perfect track record.

They will probably continue to sell iPhone 8 at a discount as in the past, but no new designs based on that form factor.
