Eh, depends. I grew suspicious of my ex-wife and it was looking through her phone that exposed her multiple ongoing affairs.

Same thing happened to me. No passcode was needed to get into her iPhone. There I found detailed texts between her and her boyfriend. I played private investigator after that to put the rest of the puzzle together. Cell phones can provide a lot of information about a person.

Face ID is for convenient only. Passcode PIN is the best. Imagine this way:

An authority, thief, your girlfriend would like to unlock your phone.
With PIN they will have the hardest time to unlock it. With Face ID and the phone in their hand, he/she can just "Hi, do you know what this is?" (naturally we would response to such call) --- and bam! your phone right on your face and unlock.

i don't know about that..

because if i was, for whatever reason, wanting to get into somebody's phone. the easiest way to do it would be to try to obtain their passcode.

i imagine this goes for just about everybody else too.. once they stop and think about it some.

Whenever someone walks away and leaves their iPhone we always grab it, swipe to the camera and take LOADS of silly pics.

If you are that paranoid. Just lock it before bed. Squeeze your phone ie press volume up button and power button. iPhone will then require password.

Off topic but...

And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can so I can
Forget my name while you collect your claim
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can so I can
See the light that's right before my eyes

Thanks I actually sang that now the bloody song stuck in my head!

If you think about it... it's way easier to use someone's fingerprint (imagine you're sleeping...just a little touch will be enough) than faceid.
