Apple advertises that their iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus cases will fit the "S" models.

I'm certain what was typed is flipped around.

If you add a filter for the cases on the Apple website for iPhone 6, the new colored iPhone 6s cases show up, including the third party cases that are currently out for the iPhone 6.
Example link to cases on Apple's website with iPhone 6 filter

If you add a filter for cases for the iPhone 6s, only the new colored iPhone 6s cases show up and none of the existing third party cases. Example link to cases on Apple's website with iPhone 6s filter

This leads me to believe that the 6 will fit 6s cases, but the 6s will not fit 6 cases.

Which would support what I'm saying about cases being backwardly compatible, but not forward.
This, exactly. The new cases work backward with last year's non-s models, but the old iPhone cases won't work forward with the new s models.

We won't know until some get the phones in their hands and try old cases with their new phones.

I hope the prognosis here is wrong, frankly. I bought a black leather Apple case already in anticipation of getting my iPhone 6s+ soon, as Apple sold out of them promptly after the 6+ was released last year. If the 6s+ doesn't fit the "older" leather Apple case...I'm out over $40. Oh well, it'll wind up on eBay or the Marketplace here if that's the case (ha! No pun intended.).

If that's the case, isn't it cheeky that retailers on Amazon are selling cases marked up as 6s / Plus (available now)?

Some of them are obviously last gen cases.

But that's what I said. If you search for 6s cases, it shows compatibility for the iPhone 6s and the older iPhone 6 models. "The 6 will fit 6s cases"

Haha! No worries! :) I had to read what I typed several times myself before I posted the links because I kept getting confused.

Actually, they only state that the S cases are also compatible with the iPhone 6, NOT that the 6 cases are forwardly compatible with the S phones.

I noticed that but I don't know if it means anything. I'm debating whether to take the risk of NOT buying a replacement case and having it arrive when my phone does, on the assumption that my old one will work. I don't want to walk around with the new phone naked, for fear of dropping it. But if I don't order a new case, I might find it very difficult to find one in a store on short notice. Anyone know the answer one way or the other?

Well, I can confirm the new Rose Gold Spigen UC Neo Hybrid fits the old 6 Plus. Though that isn't much help. It was pretty difficult to get on but is secure.

ours do, and barring any crazy case designs out there, I can't think of why any other's wouldn't. It's well within our machining tolerance.

That's like saying a large condom will fit both small and large genitals so a small condom will also work for both.

Well you've obviously never tried a large condom on. With your analogy, the size difference is completely different. And small weiner can be 50% shorter than big winer. But the iPhone difference from the 6 and 6s is about 1%. You just can't compare wieners to iPhones. Im sorry. Wiener science just doesn't work that way.

Thank you for clarifying this.

Dang so the 6s+ Official Apple cases are my only bet? I wanted to go ahead and go to Best Buy and get the leather Apple case they have now for the 6+ so I can use a 10 dollar coupon I have.
