Aqua was nice for it's time, but it's time to move on. Personally, I do enjoy the aqua look a lot but now that I'm so used to the metallic look..I don't think I could ever go back.

Personally, I preferred this look.

i LOVE the look of jaguar. I remember seeing OS X for the first time, and it blew me away. I prefer the pinstripes and candy drops to matte gray and black, but the new features added since 10.2 just make up for the less enticing GUI.

Thank you!! I thought I was alone.
Jaguar all the way.

I see a lot more laptops in the hands of suits these days and I'm guessing it's because OS X looks more refined and serious. I like it, anyway. I thought the brushed metal thing was way overdone in older versions.

I actually miss the Aqua theme of OS X. I think Leopard is nice and polished, but it isn't as slick as Aqua was back in the day. However you have to remember that the look of Apple's OS's changes when the look of the hardware changes. So the Bondi Blue iMacs and Graphite G4's inspired Aqua and the new iMac aluminum, Mac Pro, Macbook Pro, and Macbook Air have inspired Leopard and presumably Snow Leopard as well.:apple:

Never looked at it like that before, but yea you're right, thats true...

Sorry, I know this isn't an "Extras.zip" support thread and I don't mean to hijack it, but there is a problem here.

iTunes list titles look like this:

And now, after installing that Illuminous thing, Apple Mail list titles still look like this:

Does anybody know how to fix this? :(

To me, the old Mac OS X looks like a cartoon OS. :p:D

The first time I saw OS X was on a blue tower in 01 it was 10.0, and it looked like that. I said eww thats junk and went back to my windows PC laughing at the maclots. I thought the blue tower was lame looking as well. Fisherprice desktop with Fisherprice OS :)

What an awful look, Vista aero is OSX 10.0 aqua for sure. It looks like ass.

I dont believe you can...
but if you find something let me know! :)

I really like the NeXTStep (LiteStep on Linux) look as well. I may also be one of the few remaining people who actually likes the OpenLook window manager...I thought that was a nice interface too.

It was Steve Jobs's company what do you expect?:p

Nah.... more looking forward to this:

Probably one of the biggest reasons I didn't consider an apple computer at the time... that or it was seeing Aqua for the first time that really made me go "Wow."

looks is only part of it though, it's a great OS top to bottom.

I remember wanting a mac so bad because the OS looked so pretty and I thought it would just make me happy to use it all day, and it still does, but it is time to move on. Bit by bit the look has been refined, and today seeing those 10.0 screenshots makes it almost unbelievable.

Moving to iTunes scrolls and buttons I think would be a bit drastic and would really dim the OS down. Maybe we can get something in the middle? Some scrollbars and buttons ala mobileme, that'd be a good middle ground I think.

I'm all uo for consistency too though, how come the finder and safari have metal buttons, and preview and mail have those shiny ones? Steps at a time i guess.

That extras.zip is excellent... I don't like the glowy blue look - the 'industrial' unified look of Leopard is awesome... very sleek and productive.

With 'graphite' look set, and the itunes scroll bars...... love it.

Have you tried going to system pref's --> appearance, and changing appearance to "graphite" (instead of blue.)

it results in this -

not exactly like itunes, but fits in a little better?

Come to think of it, I do find the Aqua of tiger and before more appealing than the new leopard Aqua. I like the dock in leopard more though. Personally I think that Apple should offer you a choice of the GUI apperance kind like the way you can choose between Classic or Luna, or Classic or Aero in Windows.

Mmm, that screenshot brought me back to the "OSX is ****" days.

Dear god do I prefer the look of Tiger/Leopard.

In a few years time we will be saying that Leopard was **** and the new OS X Spider looks best :p

I've used Macs for a long, long time and have used OS X since DP3. I like Leopard more than the interface (default) of Tiger. The "metal" Finder was just godawful, particularly considering that most of the other apps were not "metal." But I wish that Leopard had more translucency effects. I have hacked my menus to be as translucent as they were in the original 10.5 release, instead of the opaque ones in 10.5.2 onward, but even still, I would like them to be a little more translucent--akin to the 'blurred glass' effects of Vista. I know, I'll probably be lynched for saying that, but we have all this GPU horsepower with UI Composition and QuartzGL, why not use it for some cool eye-andy?
