The problem of course is that every other conumer electronic doesn't require the fees. My xbox, ps3, psp, wii, zune, ds, would all NOT charge for software updates of any kind. The game consoles in particular have had just as much functionality changed an iPod touch.

Hey, I do Health Care reform, not accounting, so I can't really explain it to you. Basically though, when you get updates on your consoles, you're not adding any real functionality to them, unlike adding mail, voice recording, etc. for what the updates did for the iPod touch. Regardless, neither of our feelings changes the fact that it's been in existence for the last 7 years and that's why you need to pay. Or you can, you know, skip an update if you don't want to pay for it.

And people bought flashlights that said "Y2K compliant!" on them. Eventually people will get sick of being lied to about this HD nonsense.

How are they being lied to? It's supports output of HD videos and it has an HD radio in it. I'm pretty sure it deserves the moniker.

i think it's really funny that you can check your MS Exchange email on an Apple device, but not on the Zune

I'm not talking about the Zune specifically; I'm talking about the "HD" marketing as a whole.

"True HD", "Full HD"... it's all a lie.

What happens when companies try to sell us Cinema 4K and Super Hi-Vision?

"Oh, 1080p... that's not full HD, Cinema 4K is full HD!"

"Cinema 4K is nice, but Super Hi-Vision... THAT'S True HD!"

HD is non-SD or ED, that's all. ;)

I'm sure when Cinema 4K comes out they'll just market it as something like '4K HD!'. And I have a feeling it will be a while.

Microsoft officially confirms the Zune HD is coming soon and reveals pricing.
Microsoft will begin taking orders on September 15. The 16GB will cost $219, and the 32GB will cost $289. Both versions will have OLED displays, multi-touch web browsers, and the ability to send 720 HDTV video out via a cable to your home HDTV.

I hope this encourages Apple to include OLED screens on the next iPod Touch and iPhones.
