And the obvious ability to install cracked apps is another GREAT reason to jailbreak. I personally like the 5 columns of icons - gets more on the screen without as much scrolling through pages.

No, it's NOT actually. You shouldn't be installing cracked apps. :p

Uh oh. The "morality police" has shown up.

Some of us use the cracked apps as a way to demo apps and then purchase the ones that are actually good ya' know.

Apple really needs a "demo this app" process, as so much of the App Store stuff is crap.

Uh oh, the "disregard social norms" crew has arrived.

Some folks may do that perhaps, but others do not. :)

Apple has had in-app purchases for a while now. It's up to the developer to offer the free version, then you pay for full version inside the app.

Umm no.

In-App purchases are not a substitute for demo'ing basic functionality.

So tell me what's wrong with installing a cracked app, deciding you like it, and then purchasing it once you decide you like it?

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. Keeping cracked apps and not paying, different story.

+1. What's funny is that 80-90% of the apps I've demo'd before I have bought. Go figure. I'm sure if there were demos available w/o JBing the developers would sell more.

Ya... Great theory, though I doubt many people actually follow that...

I just want a jailbreak so I can unlock the phone. Absolutely nothing else.

Well, maybe that and MxTube, since T-Mobile iPhones won't get 3G, so its nice to be able to save the videos when on WiFi rather than use EDGE.

Maybe you shouldn't assume you know the morality of all of us?

I use JB to fill in gaps that Apple hasn't filled with things like SB Settings & actually demoing applications.

Others may just steal. That's their own issue.

You have never torrented a song, TV show, or movie before?

I'm not taking sides in this debate, but there are quite a lot of people who have never torrented things. A better example might be "You have never taken music off of a friend's CD?"

Am I the only one who wants to jailbreak just for the ability to disable Apples crap version of multitask that adds every app you open to the multitask bar? I heard that your already able to disable it using redsn0w but thats for the older model iPhone.

Yeah, right. Honest thieves. Clearly that's the majority.

Funny how it's the 'morality police' when you're called on something you're doing, but for some reason I doubt you go about any single day without passing any judgements. "You see, it's okay when I do it!"

well yeah i want JN for SMS ringtones, and tap to unlock instead of slide :) and some apps!!!!

and p,s, wingnut....LETS GO RED WINGS

Please JB iPhone 4 please!!!

All I want to do is run SBSettings. Is that too much to ask.

Sbsettings all the way for me. Plus pro switcher and Grip Notification, lockinfo ...ohh and so many others. I cant wait for the dev-team and GeoHot to hook us up again. Oh and Backgrounder. I could really use it now as not all developers have updated their apps and who know if they ever will. Love you Backgrounder!

I am still using my goddamn 3G which has a crack on the back and super slow because I cant jailbreak the latest one. It is not even worth using an apple device that is not jailbroken. I am going to start boycotting new products made by apple so they never get another cent from me. I'll buy things on the used market so that I get the same things, but they do not get to make another sale. They have long overtaken MSFT in despicable practices.

did you buy one though?

I dropped £600 ($900) on the new iphone because I thought, maybe stupidly, that the new features (screen, camera with flash, battery life etc) might be enough to make it a good enough replacement for my tweaked 3GS...but..they aren't even close.

when I STILL can't choose my own SMS tones, and STILL can't have information displayed on the vast empty real estate that is the standard lockscreen, the addition of the new features just isn't enough to sway me

i'm actually glad they arent releasing a jailbreak for the iphone 4 right now. With all the issues with the phone is having with reception, there's bound to be an update in the near future. If they were to release the the new exploit now, it would be would be fixed in what would be a needed update.

<conspiracytheorymode>
Maybe Apple purposely decided to release the phone in this state to bait the hackers to release the JB exploit. so they could find out the issue and patch it with the proper OS version. Which wold force users to update or deal with reception issues.

Excellent point. I think the JB community knows this and is going to hold off on releasing anything until the first major software updated for iOS 4 for iPhone 4 is out.

Smart move that makes the most sense in the long run.
