$400 happily handed over. It was Apple promising to update my iPT5 to iOS 9 that let me open my wallet without hesitation. I'm comfortable that my new iPT6 128 won't be abandoned for some years now. Constant abandonment by manufacturers drove me away from Android. I pay a little more money now up front, but iOS devices have turned out to be least expensive in the long run because they are supported for so many years.

Edit to add: the days of my life spent constantly setting up new Android devices the way I like my handheld computers I'll never get back. The hours I spent trying various hacks to work around constant never fixed Android bugs I'll never get back. With iOS, I set it up once and it's good for years.

+1. I've been recommending Moto E/G in lieu of the iPod Touch for folks not interested in iOS exlcusive apps or married to the Apple ecosystem. The Motos are actually pretty decent smartphones in their own right. I think I'll get a Moto G (2015) instead of upgrading to the next model iPhone 128GB. Even with the cost of microSD card, the Moto G is still a hell of a lot cheaper.

Edit:
Just remembered, the new Moto G is also water resistant. Really, lots of things to like as long as you're okay with Android. :)

I have THREE Moto phones that Motorola abandoned me with. Not to mention the whole fused locked bootloader fiasco. Burn me once, shame on you, etc. Moto can suck my chick.

Motorola Android smartphone design policy post-Google/Lenovo acquisition are quite a far cry from the Moto Droid days. I wouldn't touch any of the old Droids with a 10-ft pole but I've been pretty happy with my Moto G (2013). For my use case, I've never really needed to tinker or anything. I expect I'll be even happier with the 2015 model.

That said, for phone use, I'm sticking to my iPhone. The Moto E/G are great devices for their price but they're not flagship models and I've yet to find an Android flagship I like better than my iPhone plus there's my dependence on certain iOS only apps.

I will (or may) buy a 128GB one to use as music bank and/or for storing some photos and videos. I'll get he internet connection from the 32GB iP5S that I'll purchase in parallel, when prices hit rock bottom with the intro of iP6S/6S+. Will wait and see how the iP6S/6S+ will do for a long while (say till end 2016) and get one of these (64GB version) to replace the iP5S once their prices fall when the iP7 will be released...

I always wait a bit and never get an Apple product when they are first released.

I'm going to get the 128GB Touch 6 probably at the end of August. By then, I'll be able to play with it at the Apple store, see all the initial feedback and if there are any issues, and see a teardown of the Touch 6.

Anything black and blue sounds painful :D.

This is pretty much my position, too. I'll admit that I have been tempted by the thought of a 128GB iPod Touch; my 64GB model is now nearly six years old.

I'm still using my 160GB iPod Classic.

As am I. A terrific and wonderfully sturdy device. I love it.

I won the new ipod touch in a contest and i must say its a beautiful gadget.Great for apps, games, web browsing, music, videos, etc. Although i would never have bought it but for free it's pretty good.

Wow. Congratulations. May you long enjoy using it. Which model was it? (in other words what size memory did it have and what colour did it come in?)

Got my 128GB 6th gen in blue as soon as they came out. Wanted a replacement for my aging iPod Classic that that has about 12,000 songs on it. Love it!!

Great to see a positive review. Delighted you are enjoying it, and your post may serve to tempt others to buy one.

I bought the 64gb one since my 32gb touch 5 got too full. I've been enjoying it so far although maybe it's a little too early to tell.

I also have about 12,000 songs on my new 128GB iPod Touch in blue with blue leather case. I had an issue with the battery life but now has been corrected with a backup and restore to my computer. [ Gotta turn everything off except for Airport which I leave on and double tap the home button and swipe up the apps. that are not needed after using the iPod Touch.] I also just received my new Bose bluetooth SoundLink II around ear headphones .... I'm on cloud nine ... very happy!

What blue leather case do you have? I've always dreamed of a snap on wrap around leather case for the IPT that is just like the official Apple iPhone 5s leather case.

Hi iolinux333,

I’ll start off with the negative sides. This Snugg case wraps around the iPod Touch only leaving the top and bottom open. When closed, there is no access to the volume controls. The second negative is that Amazon is out of stock of the blue cases for now. I’m glad I got mine early!!

OK, now for the positive sides. If you use bluetooth it does NOT matter if the case is closed. For example, my new Bose SoundLink II (around ear) bluetooth headphones have the volume/multi-control center button right on the headphones. So it doesn’t matter if the case is closed. The leather is very soft on the outside and has a very soft interior. The color blue case compliments the blue iPod Touch nicely. And I like the magnetic closure too not to mention the cheap price.

Here’s Snugg’s website —>

I hope this helps.

Looking more and more likely for me to go back to an iPod Touch with the lack of a 4 inch iPhone 6S. However, my 5 has another year or two left in it at least and I may get a second hand 5S, then a Touch.

I bought myself a 16GB gold model yesterday: I'm extremely happy with it, but might exchange it for a 32GB.

It's really the perfect pocket computer. Moreso than an iPhone, I feel, because of the combination of the processor, features and price. £159 for this thing is brilliant.

It's so fast: app-switching; app load times; wi-fi; Safari (content blockers!). All the features work as they should (a big deal, having come from iOS 9 on a 4s). I should note that this is the first time I've been on such modern hardware since my iPhone 3G in 2008, which partly explains how positively I'm reacting. Going back to my 4s feels like going back in time now :/

If you're unsure about whether or not to get yourself one of these, I definitely say it's worthwhile. Especially if you're coming from an A5!

Just purchased a 16gb 6th Gen Touch in Space Gray for my Car (2008 BMW 328i) I have an audio port but not MP3, I figure this is perfect and can use this in the gym without carrying my 6 Plus with me.

Rather than purchase the new Touch, decided to buy a cellular mini. Larger screen (but smaller than my iPad) and cellular coverage. Just holding out until next month.
I just bought a cellular mini also. I plan on getting the touch also just for the portability. I'm amused at seeing the phones get larger and larger, some are almost as big as the mini. I like having the touch also when I want to cut down on weight and size. I'm waiting until Black Friday to get the 64GB when I expect to see some pretty good sales on it.

I didn't know they still made iPods. Probably consider a "kids toy" given all the adults have smartphones. Ironic since it so much more capable than "music-playing-only" iPods of the past which was oriented more towards adults.

I was going to for the camera update, but decided to go for the iPad Mini 4 (64 GB) and traded in my iPod 5 and iPad Mini 2 with retina display. Mini 4 has faster processor and improved camera (no flash on it for some odd reason). Glad I did. I take photos with my iPhone 5C (year, I'm waiting for upgrade time) and edit many of them on the iPad.

I wish the iPod touch supported Apple Watch. I've always loved the touch, but I also love the watch. I had to switch to a no-contract iPhone just for that.

Yes I really wish that also. I won't buy the Apple Watch because of that. I think they are trying to make too much of it. Just make it a watch that is customizable and can monitor your heart rate and blood sugar. I like the moto watches best but they need another generation to be workable in my opinion.

well no reason to just post to poo-poo it. I find it very useful to take a Touch when traveling and I am out of cell range anyway. That way I don't need to worry as much about it being stolen. I have a cellular mini for getting my email and the extra size makes that task much easier. The iphones just keep getting bigger and looking ridiculous. No thank you I prefer my flip phone which fits my pocket.
