Are you going to upgrade to 16gb?

I voted no. I will let my 8 run it's lifecycle and get a new one at some point with whatever features it has then. A memory bump is not enough reason to.

Ditto, 8GB+ isn't enough reason to throw mine away and once its refreshed for real I *might* get one of those :D. Besides it must be unlockable since there is no AT&T over here  Sure 16GB is sweet but for more storage I have my iPod, still I have 2GB free in my 8gb-er.

i actually sold mine just now for a good price ($400) so yea i'm upgrading. I wasn't going to but i put it up to see if i could get a good price and if so i was going to upgrade. if not keep it. For me it's my only ipod so i like to have more memory

You are my hero.

There's still hype on the existing iPhone, so I hope to get a nice penny for mine too. Wish me luck finding a sucker willing to pay that much, wow :D

I was told by Apple that I was the first person to activate the 16gb iPhone on the east coast. Not sure if that's accurate nor do I care really, but that answers the question as to the upgrade. lol

Great phone.

I wish I could, but there is nothing wrong with my iPhone, except that it isn't 16GB, which I really want. I just don't have the money. Good to see they are keeping this up to date though, as far as drive size and price.

well the upgrade was pretty discrete, unless you actively search for it, or are a part of the 'mac' community, most people don't even know there was an upgrade.

I don't see a reason to upgrade just based on memory. I paid a high early adopter price for this iPhone, might as well stick with it till a 3G version comes out. Dumb to upgrade all of a sudden now and do it again some months down the road. That'd be like 3 iPhones within a year replaced not because of something messed up, but just an upgrade.

Agree

I am using the same strategy. 8GB is enough for now. 3G will be my next iPhone upgrade.

I have over 2 gigs free on my 8 gb iPhone. I don't see any need for a 16 gb model at this time.

I never really understood the need to have every bit of digital media one owns in a portable container, but hey if you're one of those people and 16 gbs fits the bill, go nuts.

np...

From what I understand, a lot of people over there probably did.... ;)

I would be one of them. 16GB would excite me only if the phone is significantly enhanced i.e. 3G, video recording, BT Filetransfer, SDK etc. That way, i can buy apps, make/download content etc. Then the 16GB will be useful

4GB for iPhone Rev A as it is now is plenty for me

I never have a need to carry more than a few albums with me really. Although if they make one that's got enough room for all my music, then I might think about it.

Answer depends on when purchased

I purchased mine within the 14-day return window. Rather than waiting for the SDK, which is several weeks away, and then awaiting its fruits, it seems prudent to beef up capacity now for $100 then spend another $400 or $500 later.

Some of the space hogging applications I anticipate will likely come from Adobe - Flash plugin and Adobe Reader. With the latter I will be able to store PDFs directly on my iPhone.

When the kinks get worked out of 3G and the 700MHz spectrum next year, the 16 GB phone will be gladly accepted by my wife as I move up to the latest and greatest. :D

With all the talk of 3G coming to iPhone in 2008 it would be an absolute waste to upgrade to 16GB from 8GB, especially if you're outside the 14 day return window.

16 gigs is like, twice as much, guys!

No but for real the main reason I'm doing it is because I wont lose a penny and secondly I can fit a bunch more of TV shows on it. Plus getting a fresh new iPhone with a perfect condition screen is also great.

This sucks my girlfriend boght me an 8 gb for christmas this sucks butt. wish they would have done it in december

I'm not going to bother but only because the iPhone isn't my only iPod, so the size of storage on it isn't really an issue for me.

Do you have that much music? I find it hilarious that the people who say they wish they had waited to get the 16 GB iPhone, probably 75% of them have less than 10 GB of music.

I have 13 GB of music, so I could use the 16 GB version. However, I will hold out until the second or third generation iPhone comes out with 3G, GPS, Voice Dialing, and hopefully 32 GB of storage by then. (For anticipated increase in music library and medical databases that are supposed to be written for the iPhone when the SDK is released.)

I waited until MacWorld to see if they would release the 16GB, but when that didn't happen I decided I'd waited long enough. Of course, as we all know, Apple released it shortly after ( but out side of 14 days). Now that I've had it for a while I'm finding I get on fairly well with 8GB. If I was buying today, I'm not sure that the extra memory would be worth the premium, but the geek in me would probably go for it anyway.

No. As of this moment, 8gigs is enough for me. I don't put too much video on mine and I have more than enough music to keep me satisfied

I will have this phone for another year or so before I upgrade

I am staying with 8 as well. Even 3G is not enough for me to upgrade. However, you open up the disk so I can haul crap around and maybe upgrade the camera then I will trade her in. I always have 1.5% of space available at any given time and just adjust what I want to listen too or watch. One lil old change or two is just not enough to retire my iDay phone.

I'll wait for 3G if memory holds out.

I have about 1.6G of free space on my iPhone now. I'm waiting to see if they will be announcing an iPhone 2 this spring or summer. THEN I'll def. upgrade. If my memory is used up before then I'll prob. still upgrade anyway. lol Right now I have a 'wait and see' attitude. I think an iPhone2 will be announced this summer. I read that ATT is doing a massive upgrade to their towers nationwide to support 3G network so who knows. *fingers crossed*.
