Info still there when you zoom, but I preferred it when more was visible.

Issue with upgrading to iOS 6

I am JailBroken, and have been for some time now- and I have hit a brick wall:confused: . Is there a tweak or app that will allow you to fake your iOS version on the 4s, 5.1.1, that would allow the install of apps that "require" iOS 6??? It's possible that there is a thread already on the site for this topic, so if there is could somebody please point me in the right direction?

Actually, not all the info is there when you zoom. Don't know how significant it is, but internal store information isn't there for example. Other stuff might be missing too.

There's a plist somewhere where you can edit the iOS version number. Do a google search for it. I'm not guaranteeing that it'll work though.

Anyway, google maps seems to be pretty laggy, which it wasn't on iOS 5 with stock google maps nor on 6 with apple maps. Could it be that the new iOS 6 google maps app is WebKit based? That would suck.

Police: Google Maps Giving Dangerous Directions, Too
12 December 2012

"Days after Australian police warn about Apple Maps, they lodge a similar complaint against Google.

Police in Colac, a town west of Melbourne, say Google Maps has created "a significant safety issue for tourists [and] locals" along the Great Ocean Road by suggesting they drive down a one-way road not built for heavy traffic, according to a police sergeant quoted by ABC News.

Tour buses using Wild Dog Road are in danger of being driven off the road, Sgt. Nick Buenen told ABC."

An update by cnet:

Update, 12:41 p.m. PT "A Google spokesperson said that Google Maps routes drivers onto Wild Dog Road only if the driver searches for a destination located on that road. For directions to other nearby locations, Google Maps routes drivers onto Forrest-Apollo Bay Road/Skenes Creek Road."

Agreed, I hope a future version gives you a bit more control over that or is tweaked.

Why can't I see google maps in portrait mode. It only lets me view in landscape. Is there a setting I am missing? iPhone 5.

Answering the question: Yeah, I might switch.

Yesterday I needed to get to the Apple Valley Medical Center for an urgent procedure. Having never been there I used Apple Maps which directed me to the Apple Valley Wellness Center instead which is not the same facility and located many blocks away from the Medical Center. Actually the Medical Center does not even appear as a POI in Apple Maps.

I just d/l'd Google Maps and it correctly locates both the Apple Valley Medical Center and the Apple Valley Wellness Center.

No I'll be sticking with Apple maps, it looks a lot nicer to me and having it built into the core of the iOS has its advantages over any 3rd party map app. I never had any problems with it.

I must say, Google Map app is pretty cool.

I hope they integrate Google Voice search with Google maps into one app.

Until then, I'm sticking with Siri and Apple Maps.

Google knows where I live. Apple thinks I (and most of my community) live in the middle of the woods.

Now, if only I could have Google back as the stock maps so I could once again use location based reminders, Find My ___, or my 3rd party apps.

Hmmmm....Google Maps shows my house a few hundred feet from where it actually is. Should I start a "Wow. Google Maps is a Disaster" thread? :p

One post said that developers can integrate Google Maps. Does this mean I can use the voice feature on the new Google search and have it take me to Google maps?

Recalculated really fast when I just tried it (iPhone 5).

Would love to be able to enter more "favorites" as I have four work locations where traffic might be an issue.

I prefer the UI of Apple Maps, but going to run Google for a while to see what happens.

Oh...no night mode? Bright screen when I used it this morning.

Googles own app still takes you to Safari for directions.

Interesting that the new voice command isn't part of the search bar in the Map app. Wonder if that was an Apple restriction? Must be.

No! I'm sticking with Apple Maps. I have had no problems with it but I will download Google Maps for just in case.

I've downloaded and will try doing with both and then decide.

The losers will probably be some of the other mapping applicatiions that people were using instead of Apple.

For now I will stick with Apple Maps, it has not given me wrong directions yet and I like how it will speak street names.

I downloaded Google's Map App this morning before work and had it give me directions to my office. It worked good, no problems, it even recalculated directions, the only problem is it did not speak street names, it will say "in a 1000 feet turn left", no street name, Apple Maps actually pronounces the street names, which is nice.

I will use Apple's as my main and use Google as a backup.

I will stick with Apple Maps as it has worked perfectly for me. I have downloaded Google Maps and will give it a try at some point but it will probably stay as a backup to Apple Maps.

Nope.

I haven't had any issues with Apple Maps.

It will be my back up if needed, but yes...you should start a google maps awful thread on the google rumors site :0
