I have never bought a smart cover/case before. I am thinking of getting the smart cover and a shell for the back or some type of screen protector for the back. How do the smart case/covers handle dirt? I am a heavy user so leaning towards black to not show dirt.

Looking around, the Wrapsol rear skins appear to be exactly what I'm looking for but they've gone out of business :(

I'll buy one from ebay shipped from china for $4.99. I got one for my iPad 4 and it worked just fine.

Both overpriced. I've wrapped up my iPads in Amazon cases that look nearly identical to the ones Apple provides at a fraction of the cost.

I have the black leather Smart Cover I bought last year with my iPad 3. Will that work with the air?

If so I will use that, if not I probably buy the red or black smart case.

Definitely not. I have a leather and poly Smart Cover that are useless now which is kind of a bummer. I just wish they still made leather smart covers because they're so much nicer.

I figured they would since the screen size is the same, just a tad bit lighter and thinner. That is a bummer thought if my Smart Cover doesn't work. Since 80 bucks is a steep price just to get one that's compatible with the air.

Erm, what?! The screen size is irrelevant - the cover is the same size as the entire iPad, which is significantly narrower with the Air so of course it won't fit.

I have to buy a new cover and sleeve. I forget about all these added costs when moving to a new form factor. The sleeve I had bought for my iPad 3 was a heavily discounted iPad 1 sleeve but it fit perfectly.
