how can you guys compare a fake case to a real one?

they are both built in the same factory, lmao

I hear this all the time, but is it really true? Has some journalist actually gone to these Asian factories and compared products?

Occationally this is true. I don't think it's that often though, I have compared lots and there is usually a difference in finish, materials and quality.

When it does happen it's usually the factory that makes them under contract of the designing company, bur thus is a dangerous and usually illegal practice an there are so many factories that they would lose te contract etc.

I don't know. You get what you pay for. I've heard that with a lot of fakes, especially with the plastic shells, they crack easily. Also, with the rubber/silicon models, they'll tend to get stuck when sliding it in and out your pocket.

Need a thousand or more cases?

Normally an original iphone 4 case is around $20 to $30, like Speck.
But on ebay, they will just around $2 to $3 (i saw one is $0.99, OMG it's free shipping)...and look this site http://www.7daysget.com/iphone4-cases-shell_c2483/All-2?sort=2a&pagesize=100, they have all brands, but I'm sure they are 100% copies.
so will you buy them? just thinking about if you buy a fake one which is the same with your classmate and, she found it......
thats what you need to buy, to get them for .99 cents dont forget you get what you pay for!

Will I buy fake cases!?

Simple way to answer is YES!

I buy fake APPLE Bumpers. Why? Cause they are like $4 each and comes in way more colors than OEM Apple ones. I have 1 OEM (black) and like 3 Fake ones and they look almost exactly the same (if not identical) They tend to break easily just like the OEM ones, which sucks but $4 is better than $30 (or what ever the Bumpers cost now)

I have a Original SwitchEasy REBEL (RED) and I love it, just recently I saw a fake one for like $10-12 and I bough it on black. Guess what, Its the same thing! I can even exchange the "Spine" with the Original and use it in BLACK/RED or RED/BLACK, I just Love it! :D

AND Someone made a topic here of a webpage selling the fake "E13ctron" aluminum case, I went out and bough one. I've never seen the real thing but the "fake" one its pretty cool. It kinda sucks that where I live the signal its bad, so it's worst with the case on, also the battery dies very quick and I drop a few calls every now and then. I like it because its not your usual case people always ask me what it is. And Im pretty amazed that It kinda protects the phone very well, I dropped the Phone 3 times, the first 2 times the case got a few little dents, the last drop was from about 5 feet and it made a horrible sound the case bend but the iPhone 4 its still flawless :)
Still kinda happy that I went with the Fake because It will suck to spend $75-80 on the real deal just to end up not using it because the Signal here sucks...

And no I dont usually buy fake stuff, or try to pretend the fake things I buy are the real deal, I've spend quite a bit in iP4 accessories (cases, backplates, RED Conversion)

There are Fake things that suck and there are fake things that arent that bad, are they the same quality than the Original stuff, maybe not, or maybe it is...

yes .
Just because the fake ones fit like the OEM do.There are way more choices and also the price.I don't care much about the price but if you get for example 4$ each case you can buy many cases and choose everyday what you like

I really don't care about it. Since the IP4 came out, I probably spent $200 - $250 on cases, Otterbox, Blade, Speck, etc. I love soccer, so I got a Bayern Munich case (my fav team), it is just a piece of hard plastic with the logo and oes not cover the top or bottom, paid $3.00 for it and it is my fav case. Whenever I go out, I look for cases, since I got my FCBM case, have not looked at all.

Gotcha :)

I am in the industry. So OEM to me is not replica :) we do OEM and ODM manufacturing.

We only deal with the wholesale side of it. Thought about retail but the cost to create an entirely new design, cavity molds, etc. Is just very expensive to risk for a market that is constantly changing and fickle.

I have access to many of the "OEM" products that you say and know the quality manufacturers over the "cheap" manufacturers. Even Apple, Incase, etc. have defects they are not 100%. They use better plastics and material. Tighter control.

Funny if you don't ask the chinese for the better grade of plastics you get the cheaper and if they can sell it for higher they will try. They have low, normal and high. The price difference is sometimes pennies but they get sneaky about it.

The replica case you bought is probably from one of the better ones. There are a few that use questionable aluminum material.

wow, you mean you are in the replica industry or the real one? just kidding :D
So is Incase or Speck have factory in China? or they just "OEM"? So if i'm the boss of their OEM factory, i will run another factory, and make the replica with the same mould of the real one, will it like this? ...i think yes

yes, that's the point, with similar quality or abit lower, but you pay just 1/5 or even 1/20, what will you do? just look their bumers http://www.7daysget.com/Wholesale-apple-accessories-iphone-4-bumpers_c2607 , $15 for BLADE and Vapor, which originals are over $50

But i bought 2 fake Candy from ebay and that site, with exactly the same design, one is .99 the other one is around $3, but the quality is different, they are not the same case at all, the .99 is just a plastic garbage... so you pay what you get, it also works on the fakes. LOL

How to identify it is fake or not ?

as easy as look at their price (at least a half lower than official price)
and i think those selling on ebay are mostly fakes

----------

use at your own risk.. most importantly DONT LET YOUR KIDS TOUCH IT!!

the paint maybe harmful

 yea you should!
I had a silicon case for my 3GS, it smell like gasoline

I will buy whats a margin but you get what you pay for. I purchased a fake apple bumper and well... its dead now... it broke. The real deal is constructed better than fakes... well usually.

The knockoff Apple bumpers are really close to the originals, and at $2-$3, it's hard to justify paying 10X that. The markup on cases is just plain stupid.

I really have to ask... wtf is a collectors edition macbook in your signature?

Also on the topic of fakes, I have sooo many fakes for my 3gs. But I'm over it. with my iphone 4s id much rather have 4 or 5 legit cases than 30 fakes. I do have a fake otterbox... the silicone sucks compared to my legit max4 camo defender. It is true in most cases you get what you pay for. There are exceptions to the rule ofcourse like apple bumpers... how the hell is that worth 30 bucks? I also got a leather apple smart cover for my ipad 2... wow what a stupid mistake that was. With apple its really all a scam, they are marketing their own crappy accesories now so people get drawn in to them because they want "exactly how its supposed to be". the quality is garbage lulz :$

Yes. Although the cases I get are not really rip offs.
I get them of dealextreme.com
They are (well at least for iPod touch) just plain silicone/hard plastic cases in solid colours or patterns.

First of all, my answer is no, I do not believe in purchasing from organizations that blatantly steal other peoples' innovations.

Secondly, why would I pay from $199 to $399 for a great quality iPhone and cover it up with a cheap knock off piece of garbage with no guaranty of protection plus possibly blemishing or scratching my iPhone as well as no Quality Assurance.

Well, Real Apple bumpers scratched many iphones. So, there is no guarantee full price items won't damage your phone.

There are plenty of good cheap cases that are not 'fakes' and work quite well. Other than the Apple Bumper, I have yet to see a real fake-copied with name and packaging-for sale anywhere.

While counterfeit is a huge issue another issue online is used product being sold as new. The carriers and major retailers sell off their returned inventory for pennies on the dollar which then gets resold in the market as new. This happened about 7-8 years ago in Bluetooth and continues to be a problem for Bluetooth and recently cases. Look at Otter Box - that channel is a mess. A typical consumer has no idea what they bought, new used, retail packed, bulk, counterfeit, etc....

I have a case mate id case.. I tried a knockoff and omg it's way thicker and all that nonsense its also not as good with the cut outs and so on... Even tho I think 35 is too much for a simple shell of plastic I'd pay $35 over $5 anyday bc of the quality difference. Now silicone cases I'd take cheap ones all day long. Its funny how bestbuy has those color ones for $15-$20 and eBay has them for $1 free ship and it's literally the same exact case and I mean the SAME. All they do is buy bulk and repackage as red dog or whatever there house brand is.

I love this quote from the "Fake Vapor Pro Reviews" thread. Guy gets a shoddy case from a counterfeiter then complains about the quality. The seller's response?

Direct quote from the seller: "The price of original Vapor Comp is $99.99. The price you paid on our store is 23.16USD include shipping cost. Obviously, it has a large difference on price. About the quality, coz it is high copy, and it is made of metal, it is normal that there is a little rough on its surface, it needs many procedure to make all of them be glossy ,and make it be perfectly same like original, the cost will be very very high. And its price will not be $23.16. So pls understand, my friend."

You deal with scammers, you get scammed. Why is he surprised?

I see your point, but the seller isn't "scamming" anybody. He readily admits that he is selling a copied knockoff case. How is that scamming?

no ebay! I mean eba :p That is not what scamming means since the seller indicates is a copy of the product not the original or passing it by like the original...

As for me, I buy my cases in Marshalls & TJ Max for a fraction of the price and they are all originals.
