If anything, you're going to see 2 or 3 iPhone storage models and then maybe a larger tablet device. This whole "iPhone Pro" idea is the dumbest idea on the planet considering the main drawback to most buyers is price. How the F is a more-expensive iPhone going to help Apple make money??

So a 'tablet device' would be cheaper then? Nah.

Personally, amongst the hundreds of new iPhone threads popping up (some being mine) I'm even more tired of this tablet speculation. :apple:+tablet=iPhone.

There's NOT going to be an iPhone pro. This is all some huge rumor based on a BAD speculation article. The lady used the words "high-end iPhone" and "low-end iPhone" to describe models. In other words, the "high-end" 32GB model and the "low-end" 16GB model, or maybe some craptastic phone made for "emerging" markets. The problem with the low-end speculation is she said it would be a special phone that ran on 3G, not WiFi. The writer has little clue what she is talking about, yet it seems everybody on here took it and ran with it.

i am willing to bet you money that there will be a new iphone.. name what you wanna bet.. we can exchane paypal accounts so whoever wins..(me of course) will pay up..

There will be a new phone to go with 3.0. Apple is in the business of selling phones and the software is just to push more sales. Upgraded capacity and an improved camera make the most sense for physical changes. Other than that. I'd expect a small cosmetic change to mark it as a new model but nothing evolutionary or de-evolutionary.

No, not if they call it the iPhone 3G PRO.

It should be known as 'iPhone'.

Not iPhone Video, iPhone 32GB, or iPhone 09.

The Mac mini, MacBook, MacBook Pro don't have the official name of 'Mac mini with extra USB ports' or 'MacBook Pro Unibody Aluminium' so I don't know why they stuck the '3G' on there in the first place.

/end of grumpy rant.

Anyway, if 3.0 holds out well, and I like the hardware, I might move from my BlackBerry (which I moved back to, after the first and second gen iPhones)

He didn't say there wouldn't be.

He said its unlikely there would be varying Pro and 'emerging market' models.

When evaluating this idea I think it is important to consider that the current iPhone 3G is the ‘Pro’ model in terms of this supposed naming scheme. Based on that, the new iPhone hardware coming out this July (probably) is the new ‘Pro’ and a repackaged iPhone 3G becomes the ‘standard‘ model.

iPhone

I'm getting a new phone in July no matter what. I hope there is a new version of the iPhone but if there's not it won't make any difference to me. I'm just looking forward to any iPhone with v3.0 features.

Same boat! Scoot over will ya?...:D

Get it through your heads. This is what Apple does best. They produce new iPods every year. Now they will be producing new iPhones every year.

Yes, a new iPhone will be arriving this summer whether those who bought the 3G like it or not. A new iPhone will more than likely release next year as well and so on/so forth.

I myself returned my iPhone 3G and went back to T-mobile.
Here are my reasons:

-It was designed for media, so using apps (on the go) took the battery down so much that I never had time for calls

-It was exclusively for AT&T with more expensive plans (I pay the same on T-mobile as a family plan for what I was paying with the iPhone and I have unlimited texts and 1000 minutes for 4 people)

-AT&T DOES NOT offer insurance for the iPhone. Why would anyone not offer insurance for a phone that costs well over $2000 for two years?!?

-Reception is not reliable so don't expect to always have 3G

-My Blackberry just suits my needs for a phone a lot better than the iPhone did. I'd hardly consider it a phone, more so a multimedia device in fact.

Basically, phones should not be meant for multimedia as that's a big throw off for battery life. Unless they can produce a great/long lasting battery, companies should stop turning phones into multimedia devices.

I give credit to RIM. HTC is good as well. Apple should just keep making iPods.

Oh and I have an iPod Touch 2G. Yes, it feels a little less comfortable in the hand than the iPhone but when I have a silicon case on it feels great. The iPhone felt slippery in the hand without a case too.

Think about it: Nobody really cares about the phone features on the iPhone. They just care about the apps and being able to use Safari.
I'd rather have Wi-Fi anyday. Video streaming (i.e YouTube) sucks on 3G. And I'm almost always home or at a Wi-Fi hotspot.

I'm only upset because I made a huge mistake getting the iPhone 3G. Yes, it's a great device in all but I can get the same experience on my iPod Touch where apps run smoother/faster than my iPhone.

I'm glad I'm back with T-mobile. That's the last time I buy a phone purposely made for multimedia.

But hey...it's to each their own right? Some people prefer everything in one device.

The guy^^^ has a point...

good post ( a bit of tangent, and so is my reply)

but i honestly think the reason the iPhone work so well is that it is an ALL IN ONE DEVICE (well the camera sucks, but it does have a camera)

After being without an iphone for two weeks, I realized that point.

When I had my iPhone
I didn't have to worry about checking my e-mail, I would receive a sound notification
I didn't have to worry about scribbling down directions to my friends house, i could just pull up google maps and do it on the go
I didn't have to worry about making sure my MP3 player had music, I could always use programs like Pandora or Iheartradio on 3g.

etc etc

This can be turned around both ways. It's a great device but I prefer to have a real GPS in my car that actually gives me turn by turn directions.

I also check my email on my Blackberry which has PUSH and shows up in full HTML like the iPhone's.

Pandora is nice but I like using being able to put my own favored songs onto my device. If I stream Kanye West, I don't wanna get Lil Wayne.

With 3.o you will be able to get a turn by turn directions.. They are letting developers create these apps now to do this...

You should look at it this way also, Apple just jumped in on the cell phone part 2 years ago. There doing a dam good job for just starting out and within this short time look how far it has come... RIM has been doing it for years, and years. It's only going to be a matter of time until apple surpasses them in maybe a year or 2..

The iphone has some 3G issues, not sure if that's the phone or network, but if it's the phone they only had 2 years to get this going, other companies have had longer to create phone's and they still can't get it right.. But apple is on the right track...

I'm considering getting the new iPhone. If 32 GB iPhone's are available, if the camera is better, and if my wife will change over from her current basic phone to my old iPhone, I'll probably go ahead with the new iPhone. I need more memory... I'm having to prioritize what I keep and deleting things I'd rather not delete these days...

I couldn't have said it better myself!!!!!

Yes we know, and like all companies they will continue with new products to keep people wanting to buy them. If companies put out the same thing year after year, you think people will buy them? If Ford kept the same Mustang design and never added new stuff, you think they would sell?
I myself returned my iPhone 3G and went back to T-mobile.
Here are my reasons:
We all know, you tell us this at least once a day.
-It was designed for media, so using apps (on the go) took the battery down so much that I never had time for calls
You play with anything that much that runs on a battery, it will eventually die. I have no issues personally.
-It was exclusively for AT&T with more expensive plans (I pay the same on T-mobile as a family plan for what I was paying with the iPhone and I have unlimited texts and 1000 minutes for 4 people)
You add a data play to any of their services you come out to the same price, if not the same, very close to it.
-AT&T DOES NOT offer insurance for the iPhone. Why would anyone not offer insurance for a phone that costs well over $2000 for two years?!?
Again we all know, you bring this up all the time. Not everyone needs insurance. 2000 over 2 yrs is only $83.00 a month, I paid a lot more for cell phone service years ago and got less stuff (no internet, texting, etc)
You said yourself you never drop anything and stuff, so why do you need it?
-Reception is not reliable so don't expect to always have 3G
I have EXCELLENT service where I have been so far with mine. If you expect to have perfect service coast to coast with ANY cell phone provider, you better think again. I have no issues and that was the #1 issue for me as I work outside a lot. My iPhone is the only way I can communicant to my friends and family.
-My Blackberry just suits my needs for a phone a lot better than the iPhone did. I'd hardly consider it a phone, more so a multimedia device in fact.
again we all know and you remind us all every time. You even said the iPhone was the best phone ever, and in 1 day you changed you mind because you couldn't afford it. I think it's a great cell phone and have no issues using it as a cell phone.
Basically, phones should not be meant for multimedia as that's a big throw off for battery life. Unless they can produce a great/long lasting battery, companies should stop turning phones into multimedia devices.
Says who? Again if companies don't come out with new things in cell phones, people will get bored and people will stop buying them.
I give credit to RIM. HTC is good as well. Apple should just keep making iPods.
So how many iPhones has sold compared to how many RIM and HTC have sold? So in your world Ford should just make trucks, Honda should just make small cars...
I care very much about the cell phone part and I bet most buyers do. I researched for a few months and read up on the iPhone not just for the features, but making a call.
I'd rather have Wi-Fi anyday. Video streaming (i.e YouTube) sucks on 3G. And I'm almost always home or at a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Not everyone has that luxury of being at a Wi-Fi spot. I work outside from my truck 75% of my day working so I am no where a hot spot and the 3G works great and NO problems with YouTube videos at all. The other day I was driving with my daughter and she was watching videos on it.
Since I work outside a lot, reliability was a selling point for me. It works for me.
I'm only upset because I made a huge mistake getting the iPhone 3G. Yes, it's a great device in all but I can get the same experience on my iPod Touch where apps run smoother/faster than my iPhone.
I'll be honest, I think you're upset because you don't have it and you keep telling us how you stayed wit T-Mobile and got an iPod Touch making me wonder if you keep saying that to try to convince yourself that you made the better choice.
I'm glad I'm back with T-mobile. That's the last time I buy a phone purposely made for multimedia.
I think we all are too, you keep telling us...
But hey...it's to each their own right? Some people prefer everything in one device.
If you say so:rolleyes:

Long as I don't have to sign my body and soul to At&t for another 2 years and have them lock me in yet another chastity belt.. sounds awesome.:D

If it's comes in unsubsidized flavor, yes. I do not want to extend my contract and I can make up the difference in price after I sell my 3G.

I am on my third iPhone and have to bring this one in, so no I will not. I will not ever buy another iPhone, only get my replacements.

I also stopped buying apps. Sorry developers, if I had better luck with the phone, you'd have more of my money. I just can't justify paying for apps I will only use until my contract runs out.

I am on my third iPhone and have to bring this one in, so no I will not. I will not ever buy another iPhone, only get my replacements.

You know what they say about squeaky wheels and all...

Funny how many iPhones have sold compared to the miniscule number of problems I actually read about.

I'm always surprised how one person gets three bad phones yet most people only ever have one. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't until my third original iPhone that I got a keeper (first two had screen issues). My girlfriend's was perfect from the start and my iPhone 3G was perfect from the start.

With over 17 million iPhones reported sold by Apple and probably another 3-4 million this quarter, the anecdotal message board failure rate is extremely low. Actual studies have shown a very high rating for the iPhone.

Obviously though, if you've personally had issues with the iPhone who can blame you.
