Everyone has a choice to buy of not. There will always be the 7S and 7S+ or stick with what you have.

You're right, I don't mean to sound overly picky. I'm just concerned about how much the price is meant to hike, when the Samsung is so much cheaper. I don't think I'd go for the 7s, I'd be happier to pay more for a much better product, just not sure how much more I'd be willing to pay. At the end of the day it's just a matter of waiting to see what it brings to the table. Is the 7s confirmed?

Apple is Apple and never been the cheapest.

As far as I am concerned the 7S and 7S+ will be introduced with the 8.

DO NOT DO IT ! unless you're a school going student with hyper limited budget and in need of "unlimited" data for watching crazy YouTube videos 24/7. I made that mistake last year and couldn't wait for my contract to end so that I could switch. Absolutely horrendous coverage and snail speed. Bear in mind, I'm in London where every network should perform their best. Also, appalling customer service.

It depends where you live. I don't have a "hyper limited budget" but I'd never pay for EE when I get great speeds up to and over 100mb where I live. Aside from a certain train route in the Midlands, I've never had trouble with slow speeds. And I use my Three sim in the US for free until I get to an AT&T store. I also never had trouble when I visited London.

It really all comes down to if you think iOS is worth 2x the price, because the hardware itself certainly isn't.

Personally, I'm tired of iOS. It's just gotten boring as it pretty much looks and feels the same as previous versions, where at least on android you can customize it to look however you want to keep things fresh.
Meanwhile, the fact that iOS mostly looks and works the same with every iteration is part of the selling point for our family. Same reason my parents hated OS X when I tried to switch. They're just too used to Windows.

Really?! I've only seen three performing well in rural areas where there's not much demand for network bandwidth. Also in London it's hard to find places where three ever hits 100mbps speed. Are you sure about this?! I don't think any mobile network in the uk actually provides that speed including EE. Having said that, I've now moved to EE & very happy with their coverage and speed.

Exactly. As long as the choice is there it won't matter to most. It'll be interesting to see what the 7S brings and what Apple have restricted on it. Should be a good phone though.

I fully acknowledge that the continuity is a good thing for some, I'm simply saying making an argument that for me personally with an iPhone 7, it makes no sense to pay over $1000 (once you add in applecare) for a phone where the user experience is pretty much the same as the OS will look the same, and I probably won't notice any speed increases as the a10 still blows through any app on the marketplace.

Actually, there are odd black spots in the countryside where I have trouble but I've been with people on other networks who have the same trouble. But it's rare anyway.

I don't know the speeds I got in London on Three but you can see from my pic that I got over 100mb on 9th May. That was in my hometown in the East Midlands. Three just works for me, so I see no reason to change.

I could say no, but I'd probably prove myself wrong. Rumors are that they are going to load this model up with cutting-edge tech, and I'm going to want it bad. It's on Apple to make the phone too good to pass up, but I bet they can.

More than a grand is a lot for a phone, but perhaps not considering it is a phone, still and video camera, navigator, computer, ... I'm assuming all those aspects will get upgraded at some level. The camera most of all.

I'm another NO

If the price is much higher than the current models I'll reassess and either buy an iPhone 7 or change to a Galaxy S8.

I actually skipped the iPhone 7 last year out of principle because Apple put up the price over the 6s price...

Wow . That speed is really impressive.

I bet a lot of people are saying no they wouldn't right now.
Then comes the keynote, still skeptical perhaps.

and then pre-order opens....

Its quite amazing how this happens. Last september I was sure I wouldn't want the 7 but as soon as the keynote was done I was there trying to pre-order. Only a **** up from a carrier on my order gave me a week or so to think about it and realise that I didn't need it. The urge this year to get an 8 will be too great I think.

It just depends, I usually go with the S version of iPhones, but if there is a reason to get the new 8 then I might pay for it. If the features are not that different, then no

I need an upgrade around the end of August. Eyeing up the iphone 8 and am willing to pay some premium but not much - in the UK the iphone is already plenty expensive enough thanks.

If the 7s gets some good new tech then I might consider it, but if its just a speed bumped 7, then I'd probably just grab a cheaper 7, and wait it out a year to see if the iphone 8 tech trickles down to the mainline phones next year.

although I was thinking to do the apple purchase plan thing that lets you buy at 0% interest and swap out after a year. If that is limited to the top end model then that might sway me to the 8. Just feels a bit like this year is one of those 'introducing several new features that might take a year to iron out, so next year could see a noticably improved model'. So I definitely don't want to be stuck on a 2 year contract. It'll be a purchase plan or buy outright and then sell on in 12 months.

I wonder how many people will want to buy the 8 but if its too expensive will just get an 7/+ instead of the 7S/+?

I can get a refurb iPhone 7 with a years warranty and it will be in perfect nick as far as I can tell for about £350 perhaps less. There is no way I will spend nearly double that for the 7S. I'll pay up to about £850 for the 8 but beyond that its a bit of a piss take. I have waited 3 years, I can wait one more.

In the US, probably not many. Most will probably buy their phones through installment plans and carriers might even offer some good deals similar to last year.
