Will you upgrade your iPhone 6 to an iPhone 7?

iPhone 6 is a fine phone indeed. I will get the iPhone 7 most likely a few months or more after it's released. Many are on monthly payment plans with their carrier (tmobile for example) and best to wait until current iPhone is paid off before upgrading to the newest iPhone....

That's the way I look at it anyway. I doubt my iPhone 6 will be worth much as a trade in by the time iPhone 7 is out. I'll get the 7 and keep my 6 as a backup phone.

The iPhone 6 is a fine phone indeed..

I may catch some flak for saying this but I will anyway...the iPhone 6 is not a fine phone, it is merely an adequate phone.

The 6s and the SE are fine phones. These owners can wait for the rumored 10th anniversary model with perfect equanimity.

For the 6/6+ owners, it's a question of can I (or do I) use this phone for another year to get me to the promised land of 2017?

6 / 6 Plus users should if they want water-resistance, capacitive home button, more RAM, and that raise to wake feature. Been wanting to have double tap to wake on iPhone for awhile now. I guess having raise to wake is the next best thing. Nomore damaged home buttons!

Let's just wait when Samsung finally decides to remove its home button and adds raise to wake or a copycat of the Motorola Display. Whatever Apple does, Samsung does it too. Nokia's N9 and LG G2 were light years ahead of both when that double tap to wake. Then Motorola added their nudge to wake for Moto X in 2013.

Unless you already have a 6s / 6s Plus / SE, just upgrade this year if you can. You don't want to be stuck with only 1 GB RAM or having no raise to wake for the 6 / 6+. Who really cares if it looks the same? Features are more important than its looks and we might get glass rears next year which isn't practical for real world abuse.

A 64Gb iPhone 6s costs $1399 here. Even with my $400 subsidy, the iPhone 7 is going to have to offer a lot more than raise to wake and 2gb of RAM to get me to part with $999. I'm quite happy with my iPhone 6.

Not sure yet. Maybe I'll get a cheap 6S instead, since I really like 3D Touch, but also using my standard Sennheiser. But if the new features are really neat, I might get weak. As always. :D

I really want 3D Touch, and the force touch home button thing sounds quite cool as well. I'm getting excited for the 7! This will be the first time I get the new iPhone right after the keynote, before I've ended up with one that isn't current or bought the newest right before the update came out: but not this year!

I planned on upgrading to the 7 earlier this year, I'm not sure why. I have changed my mind though and I am very set on waiting the extra year. I feel like this is a "stepping stone" iPhone into something big. I want that OLED display that is rumored to be coming with the model after the 7. I want accessories to settle down a little after the whole headphone jack fiasco happens. I want an iPhone that will be more of a radical upgrade over my 6, it runs great now.

It will be a huge upgrade. I will be going up to the Plus iPhone as well. So not only will I get incredible incremental upgrades, I will finally enjoy the huge screen, superior battery life, and versatile landscape features!

So many people I know have the Plus. I've considered it myself and still may decide to take the plunge come September. It seems like the screen may add a lot to the experience, but also I'm concerned it may take a lot away as well due to the extra size and possible cumbersomeness.

I love my 6 Plus now that it has decent RAM management in iOS 9 and 10 beta. I'm not too enthusiastic about upgrading with the rumors being what they are. Also, not having subsidy pricing anymore really is making me wait longer between upgrade cycles. I don't consider the US carrier upgrade plans to be comparable.

The best phone I ever had (least amount of isssues and blazing speed) was the 4S. It's the only S version I've had and it was really nice. The 7S is what my sights are on.

I won't be near the next iPhone if the rumours about no headphone jack are true. I use my phone for music the most, I listen to it all day every day at work through headphones.

I will be upgrading to an 7 plus but would like to know what security features Apple will be adding.

For 6 / 6+ users, upgrading to the 7 is like having another chance to get an "s" model. A better version of the 6s. Don't wait on the iPhone 8. Go lucky 7.

Based on the current rumours, I think the only way I would upgrade is if Apple brought their Upgrade Plan to the UK, as I'm apprehensive of missing out on what sounds like a brilliant new phone next year... but then that's just rumours

Either that, or I'll definitely upgrade because I like shiny new things

Or I might get a 6S Plus for a reasonable price

If the given rumours are true that the plus is going to be a little shorter as I find it right now too tall then I will definitely think about getting that

The only issue is the removable of the headphone jack which isn't a deal breaker when you can use a smaller iPhone like a 4s, 5s, or SE for your music.

The #7 might be the only time this year attached to an iPhone unless Apple decides bring it back in some form again like the 7c next year. I predict next year's will be called iPhone 8 or they drop the numeric already. Although like Mortal Kombat 9 which was just called Mortal Kombat, people like us will refer to it as iPhone 8...

I like lucky #7. Don't wait for 8 as it might not ne great. Seven is heaven. God's number (G is the 7th letter). Even though this is technically the 10th generation. If you wakt curved glass, then the Galaxy S7 edge is the preview of the iPhone 8. That's it. Stamp Apple logo and put iOS on there.

New design or better ergonomics? Many prefer NEW DESIGN, right? I actually prefer the latter. As much as people hate the rear design of the 6 series, the rounded edges feels nicer to hold. The 4 and 5 series feel too sharp and boxy. 6 series might feel slippery, but it feels more comfortable to palm like the 2G and 3G series.

Waterproofing and iOS 10 like raise to wake and ability to delete most of the stock apps might the worth it to go 7.

Space black is the obvious choice for me unless another Scruffgate leads me to space gray. I prefer if my phone isn't dual-toned. If it is black on the front, then the color should match the back too or close enough. Need to have black lines on the back to keep it stealth.

I upgraded from the 5s to the 6s Plus last year, and from what I'm seeing and hearing in the rumor mill, I'll probably stay with the 6s Plus. I'm sure the 7 will be a good device, I just don't think it's that big of a jump from the 6s line. However, I'm still holding out my final decision until after the keynote later this year.

I'm still on my iPhone 5s , and the battery is surely getting worse by the day, so I will most likely upgrade to the 7.

Although I could have upgraded to the 6s last year, I didn't felt the features were worth it.

But to be honest, from the rumors the 7 doesn't sound like a worthwhile upgrade, either.

Ahh I don't know what to do, the battery of my 5s and the 16 Gb storage size urge me to upgrade, but the shiny redesigned iPhone 8 rumored for next year sounds so much more worthwhile to get ...
I'm in a dilemma ...

Get a 6 or 6s for cheap to hold you over until the 8. Then you could at least have good battery life.

More than likely. Just shattered my my screen but its still usable so I'm gonna try and keep it alive till the 7 comes out and upgrade. Gonna feel like forever until it releases with this screen though.

Since the iPhone 7 lately seems to be getting a lot of flak, and many are saying based on the rumors that they will wait for next year's supposed giant redesign, im curious how many iPhone 6 owners plan to, like myself, upgrade to a 7 when it is released.
I really want the 3D Touch features especially given the increased functionality of this feature in iOS 10; that being said iOS 10 runs quite well on my iPhone 6 and has most, in fact almost all, of the new features so can't complain there. Anyway I'll be upgrading for that reason in addition to the other upgrades like camera and speed.
So, iPhone 6 owners, will you be doing the same or keeping your 6 a while longer? Or are you unsure and will wait until it is released to decide?

I had a 6 Plus. I have a 6S Plus. I will absolutely be getting a 7 Plus.

It's going to have faster CPU, GPU, better camera. Even if it had nothing else, that's enough for me to upgrade.

2016 iPhone 7
vs
2017 iPhone Pro 10th Anniversary Edition

Or just get both like I will. Resale value on year-old iPhones is really good. No reason to decide or stick with the same phone year after year. :)

I could understand if 6s owners can't update. But say you have a 6 or older and you base it on a new design, Apple is giving us two chances after that in 2018 and 2019. Good- Better-Best cycles.

Like Android Nougat will be to Material Design era will what KitKat was to the Holo era. You can always get the same looking iPhone the following two years but just more refined. Every new year, a better iPhone arrives. Just pick out the most refined version of that design.

Don't bet the mortgage that iPhone 8 will look radically different than the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. Look at every Sony Xperia Z series from Z to Z5. Omnibalance and they generally look the same. You can only do so much with a slab design before they all start looking the same.

If I don't like the glass design of iPhone 8 and Apple plans to use it for three years, I probably won't upgrade in six years after this year. The iPhone SE was the best 5 series inside/out. It's successor might look different.

5 series
2012 - iPhone 5 (good)
2013 - iPhone 5s (better)
2016 - iPhone SE (best)

6/7 series
2014 - iPhone 6 (good)
2015 - iPhone 6s (better)
2016 - iPhone 7 or 6se (best)

2017 - good
2018 - better
2019 - best

Every new revamp needs following years of refinements.

Update to an iPhone 7 just for this ability...

I most likely will pass this year. My current iPhone 6S plus has been my favorite iPhone going back to the 3GS. It has awesome battery life and just works like it should. Also, I personally like having the headphone jack. I do have a couple of wireless earbuds but my favorites are wired.
