I actually use xp64 at the moment to game, and it runs quite well. Most benchmarks show windows 7 equal to or faster than xp, but there werent any gaming benchmarks that i could find...

My 2 finger scrolling works fine, but 2 finger tap doesn't...in fact it didn't work under xp either but you can use 3 finger click if you need to right click.

I tested BootCamp 2.1 drivers on my MBP 15,4" (Early 2008) - trackpad works and 2 finger scrolling too. For secondary click (right click) you must use 2 fingers and push trackpad/button according to Boot Camp 2.1 Help. What is funny when I manually installed Boot Camp 2.1 drivers for MultiTouch 2 finger scrolling doesn not work and only solution was to install manually Boot Camp 2.0 MultiTouch driver. Anyway I can not predict behaviour of each Mac hardware :)

From my observations Windows 7 32-bit is definitely faster/better than Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate. Presently I can not see big advantage of 64-bit Windows over 32-bit version especially if we have 4GB RAM or less and we use mostly 32-bit software.

isight camera works, trackpad speeds adjusted in mouse properties.

not a super huge fan of this taskbar..will take some getting used to.

skype will not stay open, opens, logs in, closes. even in vista compatability mode.
thanks for the link ltldrummerboy

Skype 3.8 does not work on Windows 7 32-bit, but you can use Skype 4.0 Beta 3 Beta :)

I downloaded yesterday's (01/09/2009) Public beta 64 bit Win7 and also able to get key after a long long refreshing.

I burned Win7 disk using diskutility.

I had vista on my MBP already so I backed up and used boot camp to erase windows portion then started a new install for Win7.

After partitioning, when I inserted the Win7 DVD and it is asking for CD boot type __ my key board is not working so I can input either 1 or 2 ?

How can I resolve this ? Does any one have any idea,

Your help is appreciated.
Thanks

I get that message when trying to use the 64-bit version, but 32-bit seems to work. I'm on a Late 2006 MBP, you?

I am new to all of this. I made a 20 gig partition for Windows 7 just to try it out. I am going to install it later. If I want to get rid of the partition I go to Boot Camp and choose restore. If I restore will all my music, videos and other files on the Mac get deleted? or does it just delete everything on the Windows partition?

^
When you revert back in Boot Camp Assistant, it just deletes your Windows partition and gives it back to your Mac partition with no other change or data loss.

Got it downloaded, finally got a key, and then discovered I have to go get DVD-R's.

Grr...

Go to this link, and follow the directions.

I got a key this way, so it does work. :)

You are awsome man! Thanks for that link. Followed the steps and got a x86 and x64 key. :)

Really? I used Safari to retrieve my beta key and iso file. Just keep refreshing the page. Lifehacker's article author reported trying 15 times for a key. I tried once, so maybe I was just lucky and caught the server's attention during it's idle time.

I just have one question, is it a better decision to run it inside a VM like Fusion or Parallels or use Boot Camp? I won't be doing much other than playing around with Windows 7.

Anyone have any luck with Audio?

I have a late 2007 MBP. I used a Leopard DVD that came with my MBP (it has Leopard 10.5.0, so they're the original drivers). Everything else works fine, except sound.

I'm going to try installing 2.1

Same here..hit download nothing happens...using the direct link now that was in an earlier post......first used it last night and it died after 500 meg......

*fingers crossed*

I got the public beta today, and have installed it and love it. Couple problems though.

I am in DC randomly so my Leopard discs are 3,000 miles away. I downloaded the vista64 2.1 from apple, but the file will not even open (Win7 64 is what I've got). I get the UAC notice and then nothing. And I have no CDs to burn the DiskImage.dmg or whatever is in the Package contents of Boot Camp on. I am usng a completely fresh install so I really dont know what to do...

Any help? Maybe someone should compile a list of links to the drivers Apple includes. Thanks! MBP early 2008 2.4 Ghz 2 GB 200 GB HD, 75GB for Windows. 10.5.6, win 7 beta 7000.

Couldn't get Download to Start Either

I had trouble getting the download to start as well... Ended up switching to my work PC. No trouble starting the download using IE 7 in XP.

Just don't tell anyone at work...

I downloaded and installed it, but I'll stick with XP.

I will say that it is a HUGE improvement over Vista - faster, smarter, easier to work with.

Windows 7 Beta 1 DOES NOT include HD audio driver for Realtek ALC885 chip. Some persons on web declared that Realtek drivers on Boot Camp 2.0/2.1 does not work too, so I suggest to download the newest Realtek HD audio driver for Vista (2.14).

If you do not have Leo DVD 1 do not panic and be smart man - Boot Camp 2.0/2.1 are available on torrent sites and Rapidshare ! If you do not have torrent client use Opera web browser available also on Mac !

Couldnt get anything to work, but i will get a DVDR tomorrow, so decided to create a bootcamp partition in preperation, and the utility said i had unmovable files, and i would have to format and restore... Now, i would TC Backup and go ahead, but as i said i lost my OS X Install Disc 1, so cannot do this.

I Can still try it on my dad's laptop on an External, but not on my MBP.... :(

You can also clone the drive to an external, erase the HD and then clone back from the external ...

You might have better luck going with this . (Direct download when you click the link). Worked for me anyway. ;)

Good luck. :)

I just got it working.

If you copy the Realtek driver off of the CD, right click on it and go to properties. Go to the compatibility tab and enable compatibility mode and set it for Vista. Install, and it should work. It did for me.
