I've got a Serial, and im Downloading Windows 7 Beta (7000) Now.

Things i don't have:
A Blank DVD
OS X 10.5 Disc (Bloody Lost It  If you have a spare from a MacBook Pro, PM Me)

Can i install from an ISO on an External Drive? And i noticed some Modified Boot Camp Drivers, can i just download these, or do i need something off the OS X Disc?

There are ways to do that, but i've never gotten it to work well. Does your MBP let you boot via pxe? If so, you can mount the iso on another computer, share that cd drive, and install over the network. I did that for an old laptop with a busted dvd drive and it worked really well.

Well MBP in sig, and i have my Dad's laptop on XP, but no more Mac's. Got a link to the process?

Just an update from me. I've installed Win 7 32-bit on my unibody macbook 2.0Ghz. Worked a charm, and all the windows drivers installed themselves from my leopard install cd.

Infact, the who process was utterly painless. I've been using it for only a day now, but think I'm going to set this as my default os as I actually find it a refreshing change from the mac os I've been using for so many years. It seems to be perfectly stable, compatible with all my xp programs, and it looks soooo cool!

Good job Microsoft - Win 7 is going to give Leopard a major run for its money (and even edge it, in my opinion).

One thing though - battery life seems to have decreased a bit and the fan comes on more. Though I have been busy installing stuff, I've never heard it come on before on the macbook.

Does your glass trackpad work properly (2 finger scrolling, and 2 finger tap for secondary menu)?

I also have Unibody MB 2.4. I installed LIMO's patch, but thats my prob. I need to scroll, and bring up shortcut menus.

My 2 finger scrolling works fine, but 2 finger tap doesn't...in fact it didn't work under xp either but you can use 3 finger click if you need to right click.

2 finger tap to rightclick works for me. Make sure you run Apple Update from within Windows to download the trackpad update.

Hi

Is it possible to install Windows 7 with an external USB hard drive ?

FROM an external HD, no. BC won't boot from a USB drive to install.

TO an external HD, sure, but I don't know if you'll be able to boot from it.

Ok, Im in

Ok guys, Ive made it in. I reburned the disc and instead of letting it eject on finish, mount on finish. That worked. installed 64bit. Used the LIMO patch to install drivers

Ok, so now, heres what ive got.

Trackpad-
two finger scroll- works
two finger right click-Nope
three finger right click- Yup
Any other trackpad feature in OSX- Nope
really fast, anyway to adjust the speed/sensitivity?

Keyboard-
Function keys are the function keys, fn+function key to do things like brightness etc
-control = control
-option/alt = alt
command/mac = windows key. Any way to flip the command and the control key? Ive gotten used to command + something and it would be nice to have.

Sound- Works
Display- Fine
Networking- Works

Anybody have any questions, Ill try to answer em.

I used SharpKeys to remap my command keys to control and my control key to the Windows key.

has anyone tried gaming on it? specifically steam. how does it compare to xp or vista?

I haven't used Steam, but I can run Halo at a higher resolution and with more prettifications turned on than I could in XP on this same machine. So far I'm very impressed with 7 32-bit.

2.2Ghz MacBook X3100 w/4GB RAM

Edit: Sorry mods, I should've combined these two posts.

I installed windows 7 on Parallels 4 but I don't have sound. I have tried downloading the drivers on this thread but they don't work. Anyone got the audio working in Parallels?

How can I get the Aero/Glass view?

update so far

isight camera works, trackpad speeds adjusted in mouse properties.

not a super huge fan of this taskbar..will take some getting used to.

skype will not stay open, opens, logs in, closes. even in vista compatability mode.
thanks for the link ltldrummerboy

Question of the day:
XP x64 or Windows 7 x64 for gaming?

I say Vista 64 for gaming as XP 64 is not very well supported. I wouldn't rely on a beta OS for gaming. Besides, Nvidia and ATI haven't tuned their GPU drivers for Windows 7 yet.
