Yes, those 2 errors (SM Bus, and coprocessor) are corrected by the method i outlined in my previous post........

Thanks for that.

Separate issue now. I ran Realtek Robot to auto find drivers needed for my MBP running Windows 7. Now for some strange reason i cannot connect to the internet.

Any thoughts anyone?

I figure that the better Windows 7 turns out the be, the more Apple will be forced to innovate and make OS X 'just work,' in order to continue their momentum.

As am I. I figure that the better Windows 7 turns out the be, the more Apple will be forced to innovate and make OS X 'just work,' in order to continue their momentum.

I hope that's the way it happens and they're not in one of those "we're so sure of our own superiority that we'll just dismiss everything that doesn't come out of our doors" phases. The last thing I want is to see is this company implode under the weights of its collective egos again.

i have my resolution set to 1400x900, the size of my macbook pro. but everytime i start up, the resolution is 1280x800. and my desktop icons are all out of place. any ideas?

Do you have the proper video drivers installed? Check Windows Update, and also do a performance rating. It's possible a video driver is buggy.

I went ahead and installed it and I have to admit I'm really impressed with it, especially compared to how terrible Vista is. We might finally have a successor to Windows XP.

Only problem I've had (minus getting my bluetooth mouse and keyboard to work, which I did) is that the "windows experience indicator" thing gives my machine a 2.0 (5.0+ on everything but my hard disk). I don't know why it would rate my hard drive so low...I know its 5400 RPM (I hate that...) but I'm still on a Macbook Pro, lol.

I should upgrade my internal drive to a 7200 RPM drive...

I can't get my bluetooth apple keyboard or mighty mouse to connect. Is anyone else having bluetooth issues?
Thats funny I also have an apple blue tooth keyboard but a bluetooth logitech mouse and they worked perfectly. I was actually surprised how well they worked.

Yeah my bluetooth Apple Mighty Mouse worked automatically once Windows 7 setup loaded via the install disc. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

Has anyone tried booting Win7 x64 natively? I am under the impression that it supports uefi natively (no more need for BIOS or bootcamp).

Even Vista supports UEFI 2.1. But that's not what Apple uses. It's a proprietary version of EFI 1.1, so the BIOS emulator is still needed to make Windows work.

If you have a separate drive for Windows, Boot Camp isn't needed.

UEFI is supported in 64-bit versions of win server 2008 and Vista SP1. I do think we will see UEFI 2.1 come to Apple's products. They are on the forum.

I should have been more specific as to 64 bit.

I've actually been hoping UEFI 2.1 will become commonplace, no matter if Apple's products, or other vendors. To me, it's a more of a necessity, as current firmware standards are showing their age, BIOS in particular. 64 bit OS's could definitely utilize it.

Running Win 7 Natively vs Parallels

Windows 7 seems to be very stable and works well when run on it's own. Has a smaller footprint on harddrive as well.

When I have it running alongside Leopard in Parallels, the drivers for sound and video don't work well or at all. I've tried all the tricks on all the forums to no avail. However, I willing to live with the problem as the driver situation is remedied when Windows 7 is run natively.

Worst issue I've seen to date is a failure of my wireless to work in Leopard ("fail to connect"), but when running Windows 7, it works fine. I played with it for awhile, not sure exactly what I did, but wireless is working in Leopard again. I'm thinking of giving the software a few more weeks to work out the bugs, but then I'm going back to Vista 64 bit. Everything worked without a hitch. Vista has a bad rap, but it hasn't proven to be an issue with me.

Quirky :D

Link is still working, so I do not understand the problem - change your ISP maybe ;)

Regarding Boot Camp modified installers: you can do it by myself using msi editor - drop off "Launch Conditions" and save. I did not modify "VersionNT=600" occurences to "VersionNT>=600" mainly because Windows 7 is different than Vista (more drivers are included) and I believe there is no sense to uninstall some of them and replace by Boot Camp drivers for Vista especially if everything is OK. This could lead to overall OS instability. I suggest to stay with standard Windows 7 drivers and install only necessary drivers like Realtek HD Audio 2.14 or MoultiTouch ((check exclamation marks in Device Manager). You can always delete some unnecessary drivers and leave only these in Drivers/Apple directory (like I did - I needed only OSD and Fn keys to get work), but check Device Manager before to get info what drivers you need. You can customize Boot Camp drivers too - replace old drivers with the newest keeping same filenames :)

Regarding audio latency patch - first we must install Boot Camp drivers then restart our Mac. After reboot go to the Task Manager, kill KbdMgr.exe process. Then we can replace KbdMgr.exe. Some persons also modify NVIDIA PowerMizer settings to set latency lower. You can also try new Broadcom wireless drivers (install it manually !) which should fix audio issues (cracks, pops etc), but I did not noticed improvement in DPC latency check tool. According to DPC latency check tool KbdMgr.exe process is responsible for bad results, so I set permanently CPU affinity to CPU 1 core from (that's the whole trick). Check DPC results before and after this fix.

Well I called whole ZIP as " LIMO patch", but honestly these files are just slightly modified, so do there is no risk to use them (no virus/backdoor trojans etc) - cause like Jaymz Hetfield says "we do not give a **** !"

Regarding Aero Glass - install graphic drivers first, restart your Mac. Run Windows Experience Index once (and do not expect high scores now), then run it again (WEI score should be better - 5.0 on MBP Early 2008). High score should unlock Aero :)

P.S. Try to connect your favourite DAP under Windows 7 - I was impressed to see new interface with pic of my walkman when device was detected -it looked like an external Sony application :)

P.P.S. Great OS - like XP on steroids/accelerated and improved Vista. Great competitor to OSX.

I've been having latency issues even after killing kbdmgr outright. how do you get to the powermizer settings in windows 7?

also, what broadcom drivers will work in 64 bit? i've had no luck.

So far Win 7 on my MBP is running very smoothly. I only have one annoying thing that is bothering me quite a bit; Plugging anything into the audio out jack will cause my MBP to to make a low, medium pitch, whining noise when the cpu is not doing anything. Giving the CPU anything to work on will immediately put out the annoying sound. It only occurs in Win 7 and not in OS X.

I am not sure if the sound is coming from my cpu or my speakers. :(

Anyone else have Race Driver: Grid the game from Codemasters to try on their Late 08 Macbook Pro with Windows 7 x64? It runs fine under Win 7 x64 on my desktop, but it hangs on the MBP. There is a demo at www.codemasters.com. Can someone try this out and let me know if it works for them?

Thanks,

Y2J

Cannot Boot from CD-Code 1

I am trying to install Windows 7 64 bit on my partitioned drive. I created the disk by burning the ISO image as shown online. I just partitioned my hard drive for the first time and inserted my DVD-R disk. This error message came up. I don't know what else I need to do to get the Beta on my hard drive.

More importantly, I can't seem to type anything to get out of the setup, and when I use the power button to turn the computer off and on, the disk is still in the drive(I don't see a button to get it out) so I get right back to the same spot. What is the best way to get out of this and back to the MAC side (so I can use my computer)while I figure out how to get this installed correctly?

I am using a late model 2008 MACBook Pro(not the 09 with the body changes that came out late Nov). I do not have XP or VISTA installed.

I got the disk out, but still need help getting Windows 7 booted

I was able to get the disk out by restarting the computer and immediately holding down the "trackpad button" I did also press the eject button as I was doing this but am not sure if this was necessary. I am now back in MAC, but really hoping I can get this disk installed, as I have a program for work that needs to run in Windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I did not change PowerMizer settings, because KbdMgr.exe was a root cause of problems with latency according to DPC latency check results. In other words after changing affinity for KbdMgr.exe to CPU 1 I have results like on second screenshot: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/629209/

Here you are latest Broadcom drivers:
