IMHO I think Windows 7 looks like crap with its poor facsimile of the Dock. I prefer Vista in all honesty. I mean, great if they've improved under-the-hood performance, but the eye candy ain't there for me.

But the upshot is that today I've fallen in love with Leopard again - done a ton of multi-tasking, virtual machines, listening to music, watching video, email, web and it's never skipped a beat. Amen to that.
:) :apple:

Its a poor copy of the dock because (wait for it....) ITS NOT A COPY OF THE DOCK!!!!
Its still the taskbar, still functions like the taskbar, and always will be the taskbar. What the hell is wrong with people that they think its trying to be the dock?

OK OK, slowly put down the gun and take a deep breath  ;)

The new... taskbar... still looks like crap.

Problem installing the x64 on alu macbook

Hey guys, on my aluminum Macbook, I used bootcamp to create a partition 20gb for Win 7 beta x64 edition. Ive had a number of problems-

first, I couldnt burn the ISO with Burn or Disc Utlility. I was able to do it in Toast 9.

After doing it with Toast 9, i used the boot camp assistant to initiate the installation. it appeared to be working, and I went to take a piss, to find the installer crashed with an error code. Rebooted, and couldnt get back into OSX. Figured out that, came back to OSX.

Redid the partition, burned a new DVD for Win 7, could not be found by Boot camp, disc just keeps spinning in the drive like its attempting to run, but cant.

Any suggestions all? My ISO couldve been corrupt I guess, got it from Microsofts technet website though, redownloading both the x86 and x64. Any ideas guys?

There should be more servers this time around. Microsoft didn't have enough servers to handle the load so they added more. Folks might try now or a little while later.

Use a tool (such as DropHash) to verify the SHA-1 checksum of your download.

I installed the 64 bit version on my iMac and everything seems to be working find except for the sound and the mapped keys on my Apple slim keyboard.

When I insert my OSX install disc 1, it tells me that "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model"

Don't let them get to you. They drink the Apple kool-aid. Doesn't matter how good it is, if Apple didn't make it it's crap to them.

Success....in Download anyway!

Have successfully downloaded!

Time to try burning to DVD and using boot camp. Anyone got specific instructions that worked for them on an alum macbook? Ie, what software to burn ISO and how.

Tried that last time, wouldnt recognize it. but now...

Tried that last time, didnt think it would work this time. But i gues my old file was corrupt, because this one appears to be burning fine in disk utility :)

I get the same error on my Alu macbook 2.4. Is there a fix yet? I am typing this on x64 "7" but it looks like crap. I need the drivers for x64. can someone post a link to apple downloads for the Macbook pro drivers?

Boot Camp Assistant doesnt recognize the disc

The disc burned fine in Disk utility(which it didnt before) Im using 64bit.

The installer disc could not be found.
Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized.

Its in the drive :S

Not sure if it matters, Im burning to a DVD+R, brand new. To eject it, it keeps attempting to get read, I had to run drutil tray open. Then it said I had a blank cd inserted, and asked what I wanted to do, I chose eject. The CD is readable on a windows machine fine.

The drive is fine as well, other discs work. I dont get it. The SHA1 checksums were fine, the disc burned fine in disk utility, whats wrong? is it possible that I have to rename the file to the names that Nermal was using? I shouldnt think so...

Apple Boot Camp patch by LIMO

Hi !

I prepared modified msi Apple Boot Camp 2.0/2.1 32/64-bit installers to avoid "Error 2229" during Apple Boot Camp drivers installation on Windows 7 32/64-bit.

I also modified KbdMgr.exe (Apple Boot Camp 2.1) to fix audio latency issue on 32-bit Vista/Windows 7 described here:

Modified KbdMgr.exe should work fine also on Macs with Boot Camp 2.0 drivers on 32-bit Windows.
I am rather sure that this file WILL NOT WORK on 64-bit Windows Vista/Windows 7.

Thanks for that.

How do I apply the patch?

All installation notes are included in ZIP file.

First please to check what version of BootCamp do you have (2.0 or 2.1 ?). According to this information JUST COPY & OVERWRITE existing in Drivers\Apple "BootCamp.msi" and "BootCamp64.msi" files from specified directory related to your Apple Boot Camp version :)

I am trying to download the .zip file for 20 minutes now. It will never download. should i do it in OS X or WIN 7?

Apple only has 64-bit bootcamp drivers for a handful of machines. Really, except for those running Mac Pros, I'd install the 32 bit version for boot camp.

Yeah, I'm gonna start over but this time install the 32bit version. I need the correct drivers for a pleasant experience.

BTW, anyone know how big the 32 bit install of Windows 7 is? The 64bit one was roughly 11 GB's for me.

If the compression ration is the same somewhere in the 8-9 range.
