What apps are you talking about? I don't see how you can bounce from one OS to the next without detailing what apps you are using. What do you use in replacement of the iLife apps; that has you so happy with Win7; which is still Vista at least according to Steve B.

Horrid apps like Outlook/Exchange. Though his livelyhood depends on his knowledge about these programs so its understandable why Windows would and should be his primary OS.

If you've grown up and become accustomed to Microsoft's way of computing then it's hard to change. I like Apple's vision for computing and so I stick with OS X.

In the end everything you do on a Mac functionally can be done on a PC ..it's just the relative amount of ease and UI that makes for platform preference.

Windows 7 will do fine for consumers. I still don't see businesses wanting or even needing to upgrade so they will delay the transition.

Snow Leopard will turn out to be a fine OS and pave the way for Apple differentiating it's platform even more.

AAPL -$122.11 Market Cap 108 Billion. I think Apple is fine.

When I said Snow Leopard is not the answer I was not saying it was not good. It is not enough. We are probably going to be paying $129 for a OS with not alot of new features. Sounds to me like we should get this update for free. People slam Microsoft for being a monopoly and they are But Apple is no better and in someways they are worse. If you want ther OS you must play by their rules.
As it have been said there is no perfect OS. I like OS X and prefer it overs windows but I think Apples hardware is not first class like it used to be. I would love to use OS X on a machine that I can build my self.

You clearly do not know what Snow Leopard is bringing to the table.

I have to say that I've never heard of a 'permissions nightmare' and it doesn't appear anyone who was trying to help you understands either. I didn't read through your threads in their entirety, but I suspect the problem was that you were moving your files from a PPC to an intel. That would be especially bad if you moved any programs from one computer to the other. When I upgraded from a G5 to intel I moved my files manually.

Anyway, as for the topic, I'm curious about Win7. The thing is, after many long years as a tortured windows user, I do fear using windows for anything important. I will have to wait for more reviews for Windows to earn back my trust.

Lord I have to agree with you, the poster you are referring to is clearly the User Error poster child.

i used to use windows XP.. i used it all the time at college, if anything i would prefer to use the PCs over mac, but thats cos i didnt now how to use mac.. eventually i got used to the Mac OP Sys and now i have been actively using it for the last 3 years..

I use protools and other music software to do my stuff while at uni.. i have some Adobe Suite Stuff (photoshop and flash) which i use quite regularly. I find it aloooott more stable than win XP ever was, and ever will be.. i dont intend to go back to Windows at any point soon, my parents computers are a reminder of why not :)

Im happy with what i have, it does everything i want it to, and a little bit more.. and i like the look/feel of the hardware, i dont have any gripes with apple. (what they have done, they have done well- not allowing for the fact that they haven't included HD Playback in their system. HD still isnt that big-a-thing at the mo anyways)
