As the temperature is rising, I have decided that I’ll try a few more white wines this Summer, to fill the hole caused by me never having liked white wine much. I too bought a spicy Riesling today, to be opened some time next week, and I will probably buy a Chardonnay next time I’ll visit my favourite wine vendor, which will also be next week (I forgot to purchase a red wine for the Bolognese I’ll cook next weekend).

There are some excellent white wines...Chablis, or Pouilly-Fuisée from Burgundy, Riesling or its kin from Alsace, Viohnier from southern France....

Yum.

You read my mind.

I, too, am contemplating whether - or not - a glass (or two) of Riesling would enhance my evening.

A French Chardonnay, from Burgundy, is pretty much unbeatable...

Enjoy your Bolognese; an Italian red wine would be my recommendation for that.

I usually choose a Primitivo indeed; which has the additional advantage that I can just pour any leftover ingredients right into the chef.

I haven't heard of Pouilly-Fuisée yet. Will add it to my list.

Bought some beer yesterday (six each of Weihenstephaner Weissbier, Korbinian, Helles, and Weissbier Dunkel, plus several bottles of Trappistes Rochefort 8) plus some bottles of wine, three bottles of Chablis (a classic white wine from Burgundy, which I love), along with three bottles of Pouilly-Fuisée (another elegant white wine from Burgundy, which I am more than partial to).

However, the beer has yet to be delivered; notwithstanding that, I am amply supplied for now.

While I simply love the classic (and elegant) white wines from Burgundy (Chablis, Pouilly-Fuisée, Meursault, etc.), and am very partial to some of the superb white wines from Alsace (Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blnc, and the legendary Gewürtzraminer), there is another grape that produces white wine that I rate highly, and that is Viognier, a grape and a wine that I find most appealing.

I had a Krombacher Weizen yesterday, curious about why I had not had that before. To my absolute lack of surprise, Krombacher - just like every other German brewery that’s mostly known for pub pilsner - hasn't got a clue how to brew a proper, tasty wheat beer. I mean, you can tell it’s a Weizen and it doesn't taste completely foul (I've definitely had worse!), but it’s all just a bit meh, really.

Still no luck finding the Rochefort. But looking at the calendar, it’s not the end of the world: tomorrow’s the 30th of April—the 1st of May has been a bank holiday in Germany for nearly 100 years now, and every year on the eve of it there's the traditional bock beer session at my local. I’ll soldier through the week somehow...

I don't doubt it.

Myself, I greatly enjoyed a Hefeweissbier from Weihenstephaner, followed by a Trappistes Rochefort 8 last night.
