I’ll visit both a wine tasting room and a beer fest in Hannover this weekend. I shall try to take notes on what’s great there. At least we have excellent temperatures around 75°F today, with tomorrow promising 82°F. Good weather for drinking light stuff.

Taking notes won’t be easier as the day progresses, but I’ll do my best.
I've been there, trust me.

The wines (or beers) consumed early (or, earlier), will often come complete with detailed notes, (when one reads them the following day), notes that undergo considerable shrinkage - sometimes brutally truncated to "that was a really nice wine" - by the time the session comes to a natural conclusion.

My cousin on my father's side has set himself the goal of drinking every conceivable beer from every corner of the globe. He particularly recommended Mexican beer to me—specifically, Corona Extra.

I think that during his vacation in Holland, he bought one bottle of beer from every single brand. I have no idea how many euros he spent on that. You really have to be creative to come up with something like that!

True. I had a whisky evening yesterday, and my notes are surprisingly incomplete towards the end.

I only had two Mexican beers (so far?), and I haven’t found one that was overwhelmingly good. I think Mexico just has different perks.

He meant this. See attachment. But I don't know if there's a difference between "original" Mexican beer and what's sold here in Germany. I have no idea!

So, today’s loots:

A very green smoothie sour with lime, apple, and kiwi (attached, not my hand); a smoky steinbier (brewed by touching the beer wort with glowing granite stones); a couple of pilsners and lagers; a ginger beer; quite a lovely Moscow Mule by O’Connell Moonshine. Now we’re having a few glasses of wine. I started with a Riesling.

For me, Corona Extra with lime hits just right when eating Mexican food. Being in Colorado, I've tried all kinds of Mexican lagers and nothing does it quite like Corona. It's a guilty pleasure for me, lol.
 
Two great types of beer from Thuringia and Saxony. We discovered them back in 2023 while on vacation. Very tasty and easy to digest.

Sternquell und Schwarzbacher.

The wine bar where I am still sitting does not have a Pouilly-Fuissé, but at least they knew what I was talking about. Having an interesting strawberry-like wine instead.

The wine bar where I am still sitting does not have a Pouilly-Fuissé, but at least they knew what I was talking about. Having an interesting strawberry-like wine instead.
Pouilly-Fuissé is made from Chardonnay, as is Chablis (both are wonderful white wines from Burgundy); in my experience, Pouilly-Fuissé is a bit richer, more buttery, more "creamy" than is the case with Chablis, which tends to seem somewhat more dry, with mineral (flint) taste sensations more to the fore.

I actually like mineral flavours. We’re ending the evening with a salty Pinot Gris, with a lot of umami (for a white wine) and hints of salted butter.

From a barrique cask, of course.
