# 1.5 times the battery life of the current models
# Double the RAM and processing power

This would be enough for me to purchase a new one. The rest are just perks. The rubber backing interests me also depending on how it feels to the touch.
Ditto. I hope the back is rubberized plastic like my Tilt.

Interesting.

I'm having problems logging onto the site from where this source came.

Anyone else?

Apples ninja's take them out already? :D

I like how the guy in the article says that NO iPod has come with an FM transmitter before.... WRONG! 2nd Gen iPod Touch and I think it was the Nano have one to work with Nike+.

I see the FM transmitter as more realistic than the OLED screen, which I would love to have in the new model. Everyoen is simply assuming that "FM transmitter" means you can play your music over your car's radio via FM radio frequency.

I'm sure it would be locked to prevent that; I can see it only being used for Nike+.

*IF* most of these features and up being real, it will not be a minor update. Only adding 3G and GPS to the 2nd Gen iPhone is a MINOR update.

Some good improvements there, but nothing that makes me want to upgrade from my 3g

the new software will keep me going for a bit longer before looking for upgrades

Seems like there is somewhat of a contradiction in spec - between OLED screen and 1.5 times battery life.

Until very recently (im talking within the last couple of days), OLED screens were seen to use a considerable amount more energy than LCD screens. It is primarily for this reason that (until now) OLED screens were not really seen as large scale replacements for LCD.

So, either Apple has introduced both an OLED screen as well as an IMMENSELY improved battery (which is unlikely), or they have done one of the two. There seems to be little logic in Apple doing both. It would make a tonne more sense for them to keep the LCD screen but introduce a greatly improved battery. This alone for me, would be enough for an upgrade - battery life is my main grievance with my 3G.

Sorry but I don't think that is correct. OLED screens use much less power than LCD screens. This is one of the main advantages, as well as much better picture quality. With OLED each pixel is an led which is iteslf a light. LCDs require a back light. However the main downside is the huge cost. Which is why I doubt the next iPhone will have one.

This sounds like the same basic "new iPhone specs" rumors that have already been floating around for a few months. If these are accurate, then it's a little disappointing, as far as tech specs go. The Samsung i8910 Omnia HD is already ahead of this for the most part -- including an OLED screen and a ridiculous 8 MP camera that can shoot HD video. Apple should upgrade the iPhone's to at least 5 MP.

The iPhone was well ahead of the curve for awhile, but it only took the rest of the industry a few years to catch up and even surpass it, so if these specs turn out to be accurate, it looks like Apple is merely "keeping up" with the competition this time instead of "blowing them out of the water."

Its official.....I am getting it! I can't wait now! :D I am doing my happy dance hahaha

If these are true then I will be in line for the new iPhone for launch day. The OLED is what is really exciting me but I am not sure if that is real. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Because if there's anything more official than Apple announcing the new iPhone themselves, it's a rumor with no credibility at all that says Apple will add extra bulk onto a device by putting in an illuminated logo on the back of their phone that serves no purpose...?

hahaha... i don't buy this.
The reason this works for the notebooks is because it uses the light from the screen. But in the phone, there is a lot of stuff between the screen and the back of the phone.

Plus it'll look too tacky IMO.

Agreed. But apple does tend to put design before functionality. But I agree that a glowing apple is far fetched, but I would love it!

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (white): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A312g Safari/528.16)

Why add more RAM if we can't run apps in the background anyway?

To keep the apps we do have from crashing all the time. It will also help out safari a lot.

Exactly. Or maybe the new iPhone will be able to run background apps, but the current iPhones will not. ;)

Definitely far fetched. I would've believed this rumor if it didn't say that. Which pisses me off because I really want to believe this rumor but that damn illuminated logo. Who knows, maybe this is based off a prototype (if you're going to believe whoever said that Apple had three ideas for the new iPhone. Two of them had an illuminated logo but they went with the other)...

...But that's just me trying to make myself believe this rumor. I really want a better battery, I really want a matte back, I really hate chrome (though they should go with a brushed metal bezel instead of getting rid of it/replacing it with plastic), I want 16GB and 32GB to replace 8GB and 16GB, I want a bump in CPU power and 256MB of RAM, I want an OLED screen (though that's the second thing on the list that makes it seem iffy). I think most of those things (not the OLED screen) and more will be in the third generation iPhone, but I'm not basing it off of this list.

Without fail (every single time, with every single device they put out), we will all be let down with the specs of what Apple finally releases. We are always underwhelmed. For this reason, I'm already expecting less than what this list details. The new iPhone coming out in June/July will never have that many changes/improvements.

I'm not sure how much "bulk" a single LED would add to the iPhone, but probably none or almost none.

Plus it'll look too tacky IMO.

Do you think the Macbook light up apples look tacky too?

When people put out rumors of the unobtainable there is nowhere to go but down, how can Apple surprise anyone when everything but the kitchen sink is rumored to be in the next iPhone?
