Wireless AirPods Charging Case Expected Soon, but AirPods 2 May Not Launch Until Fall

I think this was intentional if true. They want to prolong the first generation so that people can buy another one before the second generation cones out...

I always carry the case as I like to put them in when I’m not using them in case I loose them. However now I have to carry around a pair of the wired earbuds. Just in case they don’t charge or stop working. It’s not happened yet but it might with the way they are going.

It doesn't matter much on a long bike ride, because I have jersey pockets in the back, and it doesn't matter much in the winter, because I usually have pants with pockets. But this summer, it's going to be annoying that the AirPods won't last through a 20-mile run because I don't usually have pockets. (I have a marathon in September.)

If they don't release a new model this spring, I'll have to buy a new pair regardless.

I'm the same. I don't think I can use them for more than a few months. I'll have to get a new pair soon even if its the old ones.
