Definitely with a phone case. I prefer not to have tempered glass protection on my screen because it makes the phone look too big and ugly. Still, I always have a case on because it is easier for me to hold the phone in my hand.
"I prefer not to have tempered glass protection on my screen because it makes the phone look too big and ugly."
...... a minutely thin piece of glass, smaller than the actual screen itself?

With a thin silicone case, will the phone get damaged less likely?
Yes! If it's like the Apple Silicone case it does protect your phone. I've dropped my 13 Pro Max multiple times in that case and no damage to the phone. Now the case looked like hell but it saved my phone.

I take off my case when I'm at the house and put on an Apple Silicone one when I go out. I find the glass back and aluminum sides too dang slippery when I'm trying to type while waking out and about surrounded by concrete lol.

He can afford a new one... He has a point but some people are just clumsy. This is why I have a case
My best friend just got a 13 Pro Max (he came from android). We went out this past weekend to the bar and he dropped his iphone 3 separate times on concrete and on the ground…. that phone ain’t gonna last long. He has some cheap 3rd party cell phone store “protective” case but it seems to have done the job for now…

I should buy him an Otterbox because i don’t think he knows how expensive it is to shatter your iphone and get it fixed. yikes

I hope he bought AppleCare. The front and back are glass so yeah it won’t last long if he keeps dropping it on concrete. The classic OtterBox defender cases are good but it makes the phone that much bigger. If he’s willing to deal with that then maybe that’s the best option.

Some of the thinner cases if made right can save a phone from small drops. I doubt his phone would’ve lasted three drops without a case so it’s doing something. Maybe he’s trying to break it so he can go back to android 😂😂

I want so badly to enjoy my iPhone without a case, but I work a physically demanding job and unfortunately it gets dropped more than I'd like to admit. I've used QuadLock cases for years, they are slim feeling, and I can mount it on all my modes of transportation securely. They have the wireless charger that fits in the mount as well. Its worked well. If you only have a phone 'skin' rather than a 'case' it probably isn't offering you any protection.

i'm using my phones case-less and without screen protectors
My last phone, which i was using for 12 years, was rugged enough though to handle even bigger hits as it was made out of plastic and very light - and i dropped it quite a few times.
Didn't drop my current iPhone yet (knock on wood), which i got in December, but i'm extremely careful and carry it inside a soft sleeve when i can't carry it in a soft pocket of my jacket.
But i know people who dropped their new phones within just one or two weeks which must have hurt really badly - and those weren't nice sights to behold

This is the case I use on my 13 Pro Max. I used to be a huge leather case person but this thin case won me over and it's on my phone more often than not.
I’m also giving leather cases a rest. I’m liking the pitaka so far, it’s been great and gives the phone a lot more grip. I got rid of all my other cases (gifted them) and now I’m exclusively using the pitaka air.

I've been thinking of getting some kind of soft sleeve for my phone.
What are you using for that?
Did you buy it, or make it?
Something made out of a fleece material, like from a fleece sweatshirt sleeve would be ideal.

I never go caseless. Not so much because I am worried about dropping my phone but because the shiny metal frame on the 13 Pro Max shows a disgusting amount of fingerprints with just a few moments of use 🤢

ATM I switch between the following 3 cases depending on my mood:

1. Tozo 0.35mm Thin Case (super thin + matte finish for anti fingerprint, but is just for scratch protection)

2. Nillkin Textrue Pro Case (has a durable fabric material on the back so no fingerprints + magsafe + very protective)

3. Apple Leather Case (the default case I get when I first buy my phone but usually falls apart over time)

I am of the opinion that only psychopaths go without a case. I mean even just a cheap clear case will do it. That's what I do and it has worked. Now I don't think I would have done that years ago with my previous phones, but the build quality is definitely worlds apart nowadays.

Me to. This is the best case, very thin and strong at the same time. I have MagEz variant, but it is almost the same. I was looking a very long time to find as good as this. On the other hand, I have a colleague, and he never uses a case and glass for a smartphone. His point is that if he bought very premium phone and now start to using it in case does no make sens. Because after some time he will sell less new phone and even do not know how good materials it was done. Now I am using case but very thin.

Yup and it's as caseless as you're going to get without sacrificing the toughness of the case itself (if you went to a plastic thin case for example that bends and warps over time)

I really do love my Pitaka and I'll be buying a Pitaka and an Apple leather case for every iPhone I get. Sometimes I get that itch for a premium leather feel in my hands so I go back and forth lol. It's a treat when you go back to the Pitaka though and it makes the phone feel naked

So an experiment for my iPhone 13 Mini.

Spigen EZ Fit Tempered Glass Screen Protector on front and carried around in a Faux-Leather case/wallet.

Handy to have my driver's license, a credit card, a bank note or two and some business cards.

Leaving my wallet at home now…

Fingers crossed this works well.

Oh and Apple Care +, just in case, for those, unforseen accidents!

Though when I go hiking, cycling or to the beach, it'll go inside my usual clear silicone case.

I'm not worried about any scratches. Dropping the phone to the ground by accident is my primarily concern. However, I do not normally play with my phone when I am walking around or when I am too busy doing something else at the same time. e.g. I don't need to work with a mobile phone. Is a phone case just unnecessary for me after compromise between feeling good (without case) and being safer (with case) ?

Just go without a case for this generation and see if you break it or not. If you do, then use a case after you get it fixed. If you don’t, then you don’t need a case.

This is the way I look at it. That one instance where I drop my phone without a case, I would be wishing I had the phone in a case. Plan for the worst and hope for the best.

I have been using this clear case since Sept 2021. It is the first inexpensive case that I have encountered which is still crystal clear and has not turned yellow after all this time. I have dropped my phone a few times and the case seems to work well at protecting the phone.

This reminds me of a coworker who totally bought into the marketing that his case would totally protect his phone, so he would regularly throw it on the floor to demonstrate this, which usually got a pretty shocked reaction.
Gotta admit, his phone never broke, but I would cringe every time he did it.
