not worrying about the fine scratches that is likely to happen without case, what if I drop a phone accidentally to ground? Is there huge difference if I keep using a thin silicone case? I really want to go out case but the only worry left is if it slips from my hand and drops to ground. With a thin silicone case, will the phone get damaged less likely?

A case offers some protection against drops. Of course that depends on which case you use. There are threads here in MacRumors of folks who used a case and still had damage occur to their phone. And there are other threads where folks stated the case they used protected their phone when accidentally dropped.

i go back and forth between case and no case. the biggest thing i hate about cases is that dust collects in the case ports and camera, and while i know it wont damage my phone om ocd about it lol

I do not like and will never use any bulky case because it's affecting the overall experience so much. However, is there any light case that is good at protecting the phone from drop? I don't intentionally drop my phone but I find it just very likely to drop a phone once every few months

Get a Latercase. Super thin, grippy, and doesn't take away from the phone feel. And get AC+ just in case. Pun intended.

I do use and like cases but constantly take them off when at home. I love using my 13 Pro Max caseless. I have AC+ (have never used it). I still pop a case on if I go out. I'm always careful with my iPhones and have dropped them probably 3 or 4 times over the years and never had any damage. One thing I do like is having the MagSafe Wallet on the back. It gives the phone a nice grip and also added protection when placing the phone on a table.

i have been going caseless with my iphone 12 since about november and i am going to go back to a case. I really wanted to like to go caseless, but with how slippery the phone is, and how often it slides out of my pockets without a case, it's not worth it to me anymore. it's not as grippy, and every time i sit, i have to be extra careful to ensure the phone won't slide out of my pocket, or remember to take it out and place it somewhere. also with a case, there is a raised lip on the screen side, but without a case, there isn't, so when you set it down like on a nightstand, it tends to slide around.

I never put my ip 12 in my pocket. I put it in my handbag

I like to go case-less but with the iPhone 12 and 13, the phone is so slippery that I am worried about dropping it when I am in a rush or at a trade show.

I have a Bare Case in frost design for my 13 and other people barely notice it because it is so thin. Can definitely recommend it.

Cases are there for drop events mitigation, not to prevent scratches. All cases cause scratches.

Cases cause scratches? New one on me!
Well its been pretty common knowledge for quite some time now, that cases do contribute to scratches. At least on the sides and backs of the devices.

since the first iPhone (classic / 2G) I‘ve never used a case. Never had any broken screen or case.
I have as well. I hate cases.

Although, I did break two screens. 5s and 6s Plus.

But, used an SE1 since 2017 until two months ago, went case-less, and didn't break the screen.

I now have the 13 Mini, no case and no AC+.

I wonder are the micro scratches more frequent if you are taking the case off often? its it the act of removing and putting the phone back in thats causing the scratches ?
