Woot is hosting a new tech sale this week, and it includes all-time low prices on Apple's iPhone 16 Silicone and Clear cases. You can get these accessories for just $29.99 when using the code APPLEFIVE at checkout, and Woot has multiple colors in Silicone available for most models of the iPhone 16.

If these are being liquidated at woot already, that means the sales were very poor on that model, and there are a huge surplus of them to give it over to Amazon and already discount them this close to launch. Nice deal for those people who need one.

Is this some of indication of sales falling off a cliff?
Macro economic downward vibes?
I mean the phone was released 6 days ago…

Everyone probably bought a case at the same time as their new phone so after week one, case sales are going to drop sharply.

Cases probably cost $5 to make

Selling them like this might make someone say, "I wasn't going to buy a second case but for only $30, sure, why not?"

Apple makes an extra $25 that they wouldn't have otherwise.

Guys these are fakes from Woot. Same ones you get from AliExpress.

Don't think that just because Amazon owns Woot, that Woot doesn't source from shady places. If Amazon had any real influence over Woot, Woot wouldn't be able to buy/market Apple products at this level of discounting.

That seems unlikely. If Woot was using Apple marks and implying that their goods were authentic when they are not, they would get shut down so fast. This isn't Bob's Discount Den which can maybe fly under the radar.

this is a good deal! Woot is mostly a reputable place to buy, although you've got to be quick to return things if you're not happy... I've seen that these Apple silicone cases weigh 3.2 oz for the Pro Max 16, seems heavy? Does anyone have one; how do they feel?

Just like Apple shuts down all the fake eBay options claiming to be genuine when they’re the same Ali fakes?

Even Apple having going after Amazon for selling fakes took years and a ton of effort. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-37715531

Nothing happens “so fast” or cheaply when a manufacturer goes after a retailer. And then the FTC gets involved. Ain’t nothing easy about kicking that beehive. https://9to5mac.com/2019/08/02/apple-amazon/

Woot.com IS Amazon. They're not some shady 3rd party seller. I've been buying crap from Woot since before it was bought by Amazon, and everything has been legit.

You're throwing mud without proof.

Not really happy of the steep discount just a couple days after buying a case that was just released.

This appears to be a new trend with apple in just the last couple of years. It used to take 6 months before we saw discounts on anything. Now, day 1 purchasers are basically punished for being enthusiastic about the product and buying them up before the planned discounts.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I will take it into consideration for next time, and probably won’t be a Day One purchaser for a while.

Ordered one of the Pro Max cases, said it was arriving October 10 but just received notice it was shipped and arriving this Saturday

I have bought "official" Apple cases and MagSafe chargers from Woot, and all have been fake.

It's easy to see/tell just from the packaging. It will look very convincing, until you put the packaging side-by-side with one bought from the Apple Store. Then you will see a few extra lines of text in alternate languages, different sized font, and placement of stickers, etc. Which just so happen to be the same discrepancies you see in the AliExpress knockoffs.

Not throwing mud, I've put my money where my mouth is, and bought from Woot, Apple and AliExpress to compare the differences. How about you?

I ordered a black iPhone 16 Pro Silicone case. What have you noticed different with your non-official case(s) from Woot, other than the packaging?

I'm skeptical that they'd be knockoffs, but we'll see after I get the case. I'd guess that the part of the case that works with Camera Control would be most likely to not work as well if it weren't an official case.

Very unlikely that this deal is for knock-offs unless Amazon/Woot made a critical mistake.
These are labelled specifically as an Apple Product, including the warranty:
Warranty: 1 Year Apple Manufacturer Limited Warranty

Additionally, even very capable phone case manufactures have not yet duplicated the camera control button.

If I'm wrong, you'll have no problem simply returning the case to Woot based on the false advertising or error.
