I've never used an emoji or have a twitter account so I apparently have a life, unlike those that waste their time with this drivel.

If only I hadn’t sent emojis earlier I could have finished my masters in one year instead of two probably.im such a loser.

I refuse to believe that black guy thumbs up is not the number one emoji.

Can someone mention a pop band, so I can pretend not to have heard of them and the price of an Apple product, so I can disingenuously compare it to something different, along with my more-grown-up-than-thou hot-take on emojis? I mean it’d be the perfect Macrumors commenter triumvirate.

Even if I'm a pro Mac user, I enjoy emoji's a lot, especially when texting my significant other.

The more the merrier, IMO.

Yep. Emoji search needs to be a thing
Type a word for which there is an emoji equivalent, switch to the emoji keyboard, watch various nouns / verbs in your text turn sort of yellow/gold. If you tap on one of them it'll be replaced with the corresponding emoji. Emoji search, in a slightly roundabout way.

It's just way too many emojis already and half of them never used. It makes it harder to find the ones you would want to use

Isn't it about time Apple moved the Emoji updates into an app update rather than needing a new OS update for them?

Still waiting for that Puss in Boots emoji instead of pleading face...

I'm surprised there's still no weed emoji in 2018... otoh 5+ different emojis for alcohol... just sayin'...

Whilst Samsung come out with foldable screens, google have AI to book appointments, Apple get Emoji's and a steep price hike as their innovation.

I find the emphasis on stuff like this totally tragic and pointless, even when taking into account it may be primarily aimed at children.
As mentioned earlier, so wrong on many levels.

Am I missing something? Emojis(smilies) were somthing people used in text format - :) , =p ..etc to express themselves then they had images to make it look cooler but why do we need so many now?

Do we really need a kangaroo or a robot arm emoji?

Wow i use emoji, animoji, and have a twitter account but I also have a life so...

It's fine if you don't like something but don't berate others that do if they enjoy it. You only live once. Live it passionately always!

I think he simply wanted a silent update ;-)

Bald person emoji, woozy face, smiling face with three hearts, foot, pleading face, and hot face were among the most engaging and highly-discussed emoji in the iOS 12.1 update, according to research conducted by Emojipedia.

The new hairless emoji, bald man and bald woman, was the most popular character, followed closely by woozy face and smiling face with three hearts.

Emojipedia gathered its data by measuring comments, retweets, and likes on various emoji characters on Twitter.

According to the data, the foot emoji saw a high number of retweets, while the smiling face with three hearts garnered a lot of likes and retweets. Of the new smiley emojis in iOS 12.1, only cold face and partying face didn't rank in the top 10.

Emojipedia says that while measuring emoji by engagement doesn't indicate how popular a given emoji will be in real-world use, Twitter statistics like these provide insight into the emojis that people consider interesting, notable, or controversial in some way.

Leg commentary, for example, focused on the weird nature of the emoji rather than interest in using it on a regular basis.

Of food and animal emoji, mango and cupcake were the most discussed food items, while llama and raccoon were the most popular animals. Aside from leg and foot, no other random item emoji made the top 20 list.

Emojipedia has a full ranking of all 70 new emoji introduced in iOS 12.1, along with data on the individual comments, retweets, and likes received by each emoji.

iOS 12.1 with the new emoji characters was released to the public on Tuesday, October 30. It included dozens of new Unicode 11 emoji characters, with our full list available here.

iOS will gain additional new emoji characters at some point in 2019, when Unicode 12 characters are adopted. Unicode 12 is still in development, but new emoji candidates include service dog, deaf people, mixed race couples, diving mask, waffle, Hindu temple, white heart, ice cube, sloth, flamingo, skunk, ballet shoes, falafel, onion, garlic, otter, and more.

Apple in March submitted a series of new accessibility emojis to the Unicode Consortium, which could be included in Unicode 12.

Unicode 12 is likely to be finalized early in 2019, but Apple may not implement it until the release of iOS 13, if past emoji additions are any indication.

[doublepost=1541765122][/doublepost]Is it me or does what they have labelled the Pleading or puppy dog EMOJI look just like like a head with two holes in it.

who the hell cares about @#%$&^ emojis? solve @#$%^$# BT and WIFI issues and put your emojis in (.)

They are working hard on that. Next iOS will include the following emoji:

"No LTE", "No 5GHz WiFi" and "I have full bars but I can't open anything"

it is so sad, that humanity is so stupid and idiocracy process accelerates in western societies...

Yeah because you know, billions of R&D is allocated to this, with an army of engineers and project managers...FFS you guys looks like a bunch of grannies, don’t like it? Don’t use it, it’s just a standard implemented across all the devices were some designers make their salary and some folks have fun using them.

I’m so sick of this mainstream “I’m too pro to like emoji” bandwagon. You really apear childish which is kind of the opposite of what you are trying to apear.

It’s not emojis themselves that are irritating. We realize they’re an innocent fashion fad for kids and easily amused adults. And they are a convenient, but insincere, response when you don’t want to chat.

What is irritating is that no one asks for these things and bases their purchase/investment on their inclusion. Yet Apple continues to churn them out while dragging their feet on meaningful utilities like improved Siri and requested Mac upgrades. As if that weren’t aggravating enough, they consider emoji debelopments keynote worthy! Yep, hard to ignore something insignificant when it’s promoted as being newsworthy. They wanted a response. They got one.

Sorry but were is the correlation? Your are linking an unicode support with Siri development? How are they related in any way? I don’t understand what are you trying to say

Equivalent pursuits? No. Precisely why it’s pathetic that emoji developments are headline worthy, and are increasingly the only type of development.

It’s irritating to the prosumers who watched Apple shift its focus to consumer products. And it’s irritating to consumers who want benefits that justify their purchase costs.

This is nonsense on so many levels, it’s headlines because it generates comments and therefore is profitable for macrumors, what on hearth Apple has to do with it?

In regards of “the only type of development” I can only ask you the following, do you really think Apple pay hundreds or devs to do nothing while graphic designer draws few emoji and all the developement somehow stop? Is this the way you picture a Silicon Valley giant? Is this your takeaway? Wow! I mean WoooooW. I don’t think I need to replay further

I don't think Apple is spending a ton of man-hours on these things. The unicode spec is always evolving, and that is a completely independent organization that has nothing to do with Apple. Apple throws a few designers the task to make new icons. These aren't programmers who are going to fix Siri. It's a way of staying in the news, getting people talking about iOS and spending very little time and money to do so.
