Hi,

maybe this issue has been discussed already but I didn’t find it.

Since the last update I have troubles sending routes to the watch. When I try to send imported gps-routes to the watch at most (but not all) routes I get a “not received“ message at the the send-button.

Actually the routes get on the watch and can be used, but it is not possible to delete it using the phone app.

The latest version is installed on phone and watch. I tried reinstalling, rebooting. No changes. Any hints to fix that?

Edit: After a while (minutes, hours?) the transfer seems to be completed. All tracks are “on watch” now. But it take…a (long) while. 🤔

There has been an issue in watchOS / iOS for a while where iOS no longer informs the iPhone app of a file having been successfully received by the watch app.

If it isn't fixed in v26 then I will work around it by sending a custom notification message from watch app to the iPhone app (which I did a while ago for map transfers).

@cfc Not sure if this feature has been requested before - in the upcoming darker mornings/nights, is it possible to have the screen watch blink or flicker the flashlight mode while in a run? Obviously this will accelerate the battery drain but would be useful before the sun rises/sets and would be a safety feature!

No-one has ever asked for that before. You mean making the whole screen white, maybe every few seconds and only whilst the wrist is not raised?

I'm absolutely loving the navigation. One feature request as I've gotten more accustomed to it, could the pop up turn icon have an option to not take over the entire display? Especially on the larger display size apple watches (I'm on a AWU 1), could the icon be a bit off center and kind of a bit more transparency for the splash screen? Maybe just my own preference but I enjoy the map view, and I'd love to have a faded map still visible in the background where my location is the center and I can still see the map, even while the super helpful turn icon is displaying in a pronounced way. Thanks for considering!

Yes, making the whole screen white (or red) while not raised, then when raised, show the WOD stats with a frequency set by user. Maybe a fast (like a disco), medium, slow setting (like a pulse).

I will bear it in mind if enough people request it.

But the battery usage does bother me. I can see people enabling it and then complaining about the battery use even if I put loads of disclaimers when they enable it!

Do you mean the alert when approaching or arriving at a waypoint? You could disable the screen message aspect of those alerts if you want. The icon would still be visible in the corner of the map.

Digging around in settings, I think yes, that is what I mean. I'll try your suggestion, thanks!

Not sure I'd use this feature, but the watch has this built in as step 1!

@cfc glad to say the white line was working as expected last few weekends on the climb profile. One question on the colouring of the steepness, this path was coloured red and it was basically a very gentle slope vs a proper climb at the start that was also coloured red.

You can control the gradient zone size in the settings. There are 5 uphill colours and by default the zones start at a 1% gradient and are 3% each, giving zones of 1% to 4% (green), 4% to 7% (yellow), 7% to 10% (orange), 10% to 13% (red) and >13% (dark red). So any gradient over 13% is shown as dark red.

However if you change the zone size to 5% then dark red is only shown for gradients > 21%. Or for flatter routes you could reduce it to 1% or 2% to differentiate the gradients more easily.

To see these settings in the watch app tap Settings / Routes / Route Theme. Or in the iPhone app tap the spanner icon on the Climbs tab of a route (which allows you to easily see the effect of any changes).

You can also change the slope colour scheme. For example to match the blue/purple/red colour scheme that is the default for the trail on the map.

I spent a lot of time trying to decide what colour schemes to use. It seemed to make sense to use the same colour scheme on the map as in the climb profiles but the blue/purple/red scheme was so much clearer to see on a map, whereas the green/yellow/orange/red/dark red scheme made it easier to categorise slopes during a climb. So in the end I made each separately configurable.

It still doesn't feel quite right, especially using the map colour scheme for the route profile but the slope colour scheme for slop profiles. So I am tempted to add an option that allows you to make the app show all profiles using the slope colour scheme. I will see what the feedback is like from the current schemes.

Good afternoon. First of all, thank you for all the improvements you're making to the app.

Since the app was updated on my Watch, when I create an interval workout, the app stops working correctly. The screen stops turning on (I have my SE 2nd gen set to turn on when I turn my wrist), the distance/time I have programmed stops updating, and it always shows the same values.

The voice prompt that indicates whether or not I'm within the speed ranges works in a strange way, but it doesn't give the correct values.

It's as if after 50 minutes of training, the app stops working, and it's not possible to end the workout manually, and I have to force it to shut down.

I have both the iPhone 15 and the SE 2nd gen updated to the latest version (18.6.2 and 11.6).

I've tried uninstalling the app from the watch and reinstalling it, but I'm still having the same problem. Any help?

Sorry for my English, I had to use the translator. Thanks in advance.

Sorry you are having problems with the app. I guess that your intervals display a screen without a map? A few people have reported freezing/crashing issues and it seems that not displaying a map is what they have in common. However I can't reproduce it so I assume there is more in common than just that.

Would you like to try a beta that has a fix for the problem? It seems to have solved it for others who reported it. If so then please contact me at info@workoutdoors.net

If not then please try using the app with a map on display (so in your case configuring the interval screens to show a map).

I hope to release a new version with support for the Ultra 3 before that is released late next week, and that version of the app will include the fix.

Thanks for your quick response.

Indeed, I don't use a map screen. I've sent you an email. Thanks again.

Thanks, it was more to flag that there was no way that slope was 10% to 13% rather than changing the zone size. Hopefully you can see the contour lines on the screenshot?

The profile uses the elevations in the route file rather than the contours, and those two climbs look to be about the same gradient in the profile.

So I suspect it is your route file that doesn't contain accurate elevations. Maybe it was created by someone using a barometric sensor in changing weather (which affects air pressure).

Not sure if it's related, but twice since the upgrade, the app has crashed for me mid run - perhaps interestingly also around the 50 minute mark (but not exactly).

In both cases the watch app seems to have crashed while displaying a distance notification (the screen where you get a summary of the last km). I only noticed when I finished my runs, but at this point the app was completely unresponsive and needed to be killed off. On the most recent occurrence, the run seems to have been recorded correctly in Apple fitness, but the 'recovered' run in WOD stops early, presumably when it crashed. Looking at the recovered run, the best way I can describe it is that after about two-thirds of the run, the position data gets 'lumpy' - it only seems to be recording location data every 50-100 metres. It's as if the app is gradually getting less and less responsive until it gives up (this is a feeling rather than fact). For my last run I also had a note at the bottom of the map screen on iPhone "Note: GPS distance (7.7km) is 1.5km (20%) shorter". On the first time I had the problem, GPS distance was 6.9km (171%) shorter.

Wanted to add this in case it helps troubleshoot. Thanks for the app!

It could well be that, I'd downloaded it from alltrails so no idea of the source, thanks for the clarification.

Sorry you had problems. That sounds like the same issue. Do you run without a map on the screen? If so then please use a map or email info@workoutdoors.net and I will add you to the beta. Or you can wait until I release the fix to the App Store next week.

Version 6.1.6.

Crash for me too.
Not doing intervals, DID have a map on screen and a route that I was navigating.
I have a 43ish minute "Recovered" activity in Workoutdoors...which populated through to Apple Health just fine.

(just downloaded 6.1.9 - must have missed a few in between).

Been using WOD for quite some time. Since a three weeks I'm having crashes, like once every 2 or 3 runs. Mostly after 40 to 50 minutes of running. Running without a map on the screen, just data field like speed, time and distance.

Version 6.0.14
iPhone 15 Pro v18.6.2
Apple Watch Ultra 1 v11.6.1

Like @FKMUK I see the correct distance in the Apple Health app, just without the map.

A connected question, is it possible to decrease the time between autosaves? I cannot seem to find this setting anywhere.

Sorry, it wasn't properly fixed until 6.1.8. Hopefully it will be better with 6.1.9. I only released the fix to people who reported the problem but now I have released it to everyone.

This sounds like what other people are reporting. Please either display a map until the fix is released next week; or email info@workoutdoors.net for the beta version.

Just setup a new Apple Watch from a backup (via the Apple Watch setup wizard and iCloud backup). Launching WOD on the watch, I don't see any previous settings like screens and history - is it possible to transfer these over somehow?

Yes, go to the Settings tab on the iPhone and tap Storage & Transfer. Then tap 'Send Yesterday's Watch Settings', 'Send Screens to Watch' and 'Send Interval Schedules to Watch'.

If you want then you can also send routes or workouts individually. They can't all be sent at once because they are too large.
