Please check that the watch app has also been updated. To do this go to the Settings and tap More and then scroll to the bottom. If it does not show v6.0.14 then please go to the App Store app on the watch and update it from there.

If it is not possible to update the watch app using the App Store on the watch then use Apple's 'Watch' app on the iPhone to uninstall and reinstall it. Note that this will lose the data on the watch app so you will need to send it from the phone app to the watch app.

To do this go to the Settings tab and tap 'Storage & Transfer' and then 'Send Yesterday's Watch Settings', 'Send Screens to Watch' and 'Send Interval Schedules to Watch'. If you want then you can also send routes or workouts individually. They can't all be sent at once because they are too large.

Thanks for your reply. I thought I was running the latest version on my watch, but clearly not. I uninstalled and reinstalled and all working great now.

Thanks for a great app.

I've been using WorkOutDoors for a few years and think it's great. In the early days I had few cases of a run being cut short, but soon realised it was my sleeve interacting with my watch - particularly in the wet. So I now use the 'Confirm End Workout' feature which works very well.

One suggestion though - is there any chance you could take the time of the activity from when you initially end the workout rather than confirm the 'are you sure'?

I know it's my own fault, but I've had quite a few times where I've remembered to stop my watch at the end of a race/parkrun, only to look at it a short while later and see it's still on the 'are you sure' message. It's not a big deal - but wouldn't be a problem at all if I could still hit yes, and get my real time (still needs to be within 30 seconds as I realise the app then continues the activity). Just a thought...

That would make sense. I'm not sure how easy it would be with Apple's workout system not saving until the app tells it (which is after the confirm) but I will add it to my list of things to investigate when I get a chance.

Has anything changed in the layout with the new version? The individual sports used to be much smaller. I thought that was better and clearer.

I can't remember changing anything in that area. No-one else has mentioned it though, so I don't plan on changing anything. Sorry.

Interesting.

I‘m sure that before the update there was less space above and below the sport. In other words, you could see more sports at a glance than you can now

Regarding the music volume part...

For me, it tends to happen when the music ducks out for WOD to say things, especially if WOD has a stack of things to say like announcing the name of an interval, followed by the interval goal, and maybe a warning all in a row... sometimes the music doesn't "unduck." That's anecdotal, what my oxygen starved brain comes up with when it happens; I didn't experiment with it. I think it only happens when WOD talks. If haptics only, I think, it never occurs.

I discovered accidentally that clicking the crown to go back out to the watch face and then clicking back in to WOD solves the problem for me.
I have the same experience: quite regularly, and typically in the beginning of my run, the audio is not 'un-ducked'. And it stays like that until the next moment WOD does a voice alert, after which the sound volume is properly restored to the original level. My workaround has been to turn the volume up temporarily, be aware that the next WOD voice alert will be way to loud, and ensure to quickly turn the volume down again when that next voice alert is happening.

NB: this bug in the way WatchOS deals with 'un-ducking' is old, I think it already happens to me for years...

Next time I'll try that remedy you detailed here with pushing the crown - should be way better!

I may have changed it but forgot. This version has taken well over a year of coding so I could have changed it a while ago.

Maybe I figured that most people generally only use a couple of activities so it was better to make them larger and easier to tap so they don't hit the wrong one. It's not as easy for people who do more than 2 activities regularly but they are in the minority. Sorry about that.

I may make it optional in the future if enough people request it.

Congrats for releasing the new version and your amazing work. The new routing options are amazing.

While playing around with them the last days I stumbled over an issue when using interval workouts combined with a route.
My hope is that I can use intervals that have no distance defined together with a route.
Till now I have not found a way to make that work. Metrics that use distance seam to have no data even if that number should be available from the route.

So in my case metrics like
- distance
- distance remaining
- time remaining
- estimate time
don’t work.

At the same time other metrics that are ascent or descent related look to be taken without an issue from the route info. The info for the distance seams to be available as the distance remaining is shown in the “bottom line” but not in a metric tile.
See attached screenshot for reference.

Can you give me any hint how to set this up properly to get it working?

Hi cfc, I’m located in Catalonia, Spain, so all my routes have the POI in Spanish or Catalan and the current English voice obviously doesn’t handle the names very well, in fact, most of the time what it says it’s unintelligible.

Currently there is only English voices, are you planning to add other languages as well? Thanks.

By the way, I’m loving the new 6.0 update with the navigation features. I already tipped you and my girlfriend says that she will tip 21 €! She really went for it hahaha

It sounds like there may be some sort of conflict between routes and interval schedules for those metrics. Please could you send the wkt file for that workout to info@workoutdoors.net

To do that please tap the Export button 3 times quickly. Thanks.

If the phone uses a non-English language then the app offers a voice that speaks in that language. However it doesn't do that if it is configured to use English and you are in a non-English speaking country. Maybe I should add the option to configure what language to speak in. I will add it to my list of things to investigate, but as far as I remember you are the first to mention it.

Many thanks to you both for tipping!

I searched it and I can’t see any option to change the language?

Hi Ian,

Regarding the spoken voice, is there anyway we can use Siri more natural voice instead of the robotic? Thanks!

Hello.

I bought the app today and I use it for the first time.

I liked bieng able to see gradient/slope during my walking execise.

But I have three questions:

1- Why were there times when that %gradient didn't show any figures? Does it have anything to do with not having the altimeter always on? With a Series 10, should I activate that option?

2- Other question is whether it's actually possible to view this %gradient after finishing the workout. I spent a while looking everywhere and didn't see that option available throughout the route on the map. This was a disappointment...

3- With native workout app, when you end your workout you can see “partials” and “hr zones” on activity app. When I finished the workout with WorkoutDoors and went to the Activity app, I saw that the data hadn't been transferred. Is this due to the typical limitations imposed by Apple?

Otherwise, a great app that should put Apple to shame considering what they offer.

Settings / Voice and then change the Accent. If the language of the iPhone is not English then it offers a voice with that accent so that it can speak waypoints etc correctly.

If the language is English then it offers 3 English accents.

I haven't heard of the robotic voice issue for a while so I thought Apple had fixed it. It was common a few years ago and the solution was to change the accent to something else and then maybe back to the default. Hope that helps.

I have never heard of the gradient not showing figures, although to be honest I can't remember anyone ever using it! Was it maybe blank when you were on the flat?

Apple do not show splits and HR zones for third party apps. However you can see them in far more detail in WorkOutDoors. For example tap the Heart tab and then change the left button from BPM to Zones.

In the same way you can change the tab and the left button to see different split details.

Thanks for the answer.

It would be great if you add %gradient to the end exercise data. It would be really nice to be able to tap on the map and see what %gradient there is on any point, just like with other data.

Thanks again and sorry for my english.

That's odd. So both your phone and your watch are set with your country as Spain and the language as Spanish, but the app still doesn't show that as an option?

I will add it to my long list of things to look at!

I'm from Spain too.

Watch and iPhone in spanish and the app only shows three options in english: AU/US/UK.

Yesterday I remember that there was the option "en" instead of "au".

And by the way... I saw that when adding routes, you can actually see the gradient percentage along the entire route. It would definitely be ideal to be able to do this at the end ox workout as well...

Not sure which watch you have or if you have the option, but I use an AWU, and use a physical Action+Side press at a finish line (which is "pause").

Then when I have checked I am not dead, I end the Workout and click the Confirm...and my activity gets recorded with the time from when I clicked to Pause (I think!)

Maybe that voice accent choice has never worked then. I will look at it one day.

Yes, region Spain and language Spanish.

Thanks for taking a look at it.
