urs meier on ZDF just said that if the referee didn't judge the decision because he din't see it they can ban him.
If the referee "saw it" and "judged the situation" then they can't.
i'm sure the situation will be reviewed afterwards by ref-commision if the first is the case

If the ref saw it, and only gave a yellow card, by some idiotic reasoning the player cannot be extra punished.

That's what I find odd. Even odder than the the more regular 'footballer's head butt', ie pushing your head against another player's. It'll get you sent off and banned, so why not *really* head butt the other player? Or why not just punch the bloke?
