WoW is like enjoying a Mars bar each week when compared to the heroin that is Eve Online. worryingly, WoW isn't best suited to running on such a small screen, the big battles just won't work very well when you don't have the pixels to show what's going on.
whereas something like Eve, where combat is only one of the many things that occupy your time, that would be the MMO that'd work perfectly on the iPhone

True comment about EVE Online. It's crack converted into 1s and 0s.

I quit EVE a few months ago. Just . . . too . . . much. The value in that MMO is simply incomparable.

MacRumors, please be more inclusive of us iPod Touch users, you frequently fail to acknowledge us even though we share the same OS. Apple has clearly stated that the iPod touch has better graphics than it's iPhone counter part, plus the iPod touch has been heavily marked as a gaming device. So why are we always being left out of the headlines, and in this case the entire post?

Possibly because it's an online game being played over AT&T's 3G network? Pretty sure the iPod touch can't do that.

Cool idea but doesn't seem so impressive during the demo. But I'm sure with time (and a new iPhone model), it could be an awesome fit.

That would be way cool--another reason to get rid of my ancient LG phone and get an iPhone. I love WoW and it would seem to make sense--I would guess it may be the most popular game with a Mac version. Neat concept!

While fascinated by the idea.. what will be the next big thing is when someone builds a real MMORPG from the ground up to work on the iPhone.

I know it was not a success in a huge way, but EQOA was a cool game on the sony playstation. I am shocked that mMORPGs did not become a bigger console player.

I would love to see an MMORPG with an interface tailored to the iphone. If the game is good it could really do extremely well.

This kinds of things are a bit kludgy and unsexy, and have enough issues to turn the common person off. So you will get some real die hards doing this, but if Blizzard wanted to make a dent, they would come up with an iPhone client for example.. But I don't know i that is even possible.

However someone who designed their gamee iPhone would be possible.

would the world/landscape be streamed? cause on the computer it takes up like how many gigs? but i guess its a smaller screen so you wouldn't need as HQ.

Makes sense that allot of online titles would start to appear more and more. With the inclusion of voice funcionality coming in 3.0 upgrade this makes perfect sense

only the iphone of a thousand truths can stop this!!!!

please someone know what i'm talking about.:apple:

South Park World of Warcraft episode...I'm not an artard...lol but anyways. I was an avid WoW player for a long time, just quit a few months ago, if you were any sort of WoW player you would know that you wouldnt play this game fully on the iphone. As demoed in the video, if you didnt have access to your computer you could simply just pop on the game and check your mail to see if you made any gold, or talk to people. There is no way with that small of a screen that you could play WoW as if it was a computer. I think this is going to open up a whole new world of gameplay and I can't wait to see what's in store for the future.

I was excited until I read the game is processed on another computer and streamed to the iPhone. Technically any game ever could do that, but frig me - Latency issues ahoy! So this is something I wouldn't be interested in. I'm used to game lag, being on a 512kbps-1mbps connection over a wireless router far far away, but I don't ever want input lag in a game.

However when the iPhone gets some more power I wouldn't mind picking up a proper version and subscription.

South Park World of Warcraft episode...I'm not an artard...

Or maybe so, it's /r/-tard ;)

seriously, how the hell should you play wow on an iphone ? how ? This must be a pain in the ass or even worse.

Fake

This isn't good enough obviously it won't work on the iphones that are out now, but the new ones coming out maybe. They'll have 4G after the new iphones, couple months down the road, wont happen right away. It's just a video someone created using fraps or snapz pro to capture it and posted it up on an iphone.

Not really. I had an iPod touch before I got an iPhone. It's a great device but relying on wifi when you are out in the world is far from ideal.

If you want to pick those nits, relying on the iPhone or iPod Touch to play WoW is just as far (from ideal), it seems to me. :p

So yes, it sure is better to have the iPhone, but it's hardly crippling being "stuck" with an iPod Touch. WiFi isn't the luxury Starbucks-exclusive phenomenon it used to be. Short of living on a farm in the middle of a prairie, one shouldn't have too much trouble finding a hot spot - especially in a larger city.
