I am an independent dealer not associated with o2 retail stores or the Carphone crowd , next wednesday I am being wined and dined at a dealer forum by o2 IRL in a ***** star hotel with all expenses paid,

now I know this sort of thing is not uncommon in business but I can't help but think that something is going to be announced at the shindig as the timing is anything but coincidental

interesting note....

Why would new displays be announced at a Developers' Conference? They have no bearing whatever on OS development.

They have bearing on the ability to create your movies in 1080p and burn them on Blu-ray disks to be viewed on your Mac through an HDCP Cinema Display.

Seriously, though. It isn't happening. No ACDs, no BluperDrives (ever).

Tallest Skil's Kick-Awesome and Least Likely to Disappoint Rumor Roundup

Happening:
iPhone
Software 2.0

Maybe:
.Mac changes
Smaller/killed Mac Mini
10.6 preview

NOT HAPPENING:
Mac Pro updates (seriously, how?!)
MacBook Pro redesign (not yet; there aren't any processors)
Aluminum MacBooks (shut up about these already!)
iMac updates (I saw it. I swear to you, someone asked.)
iPod updates (It's called September)
OS X on PCs

If you go into it thinking that NOTHING will happen, you won't be disappointed and unjustifiably angry when nothing does.

What about the weight and quantity of the items in the mystery containers? Doesn't that sound like midrange Mac?

Not to rain on anybody's parade but as of yet, I don't think I've read any credible source regarding the "mystery CONTAINER" (not plural) that would lead me to believe that there is more than one in existence.

I tend to fall on the side of those who see the ONE container pictured (or even discussed) as a hoax.

Hold on... Wolf Blitzer is reporting breaking news: They appear to have received one in Paris...

It's looking like a dull WWDC Keynote

- An announcement of an incremental bump to the iPhone
- Lots of talk about an iPhone SDK that has been around for a while
- A rebadging of .Mac

Not worth staying up for - very early in the morning here in Aus.

ugh, Apple focuses way too much on the iPhone now-a-days. Really annoying, they are really forgetting their computer market in my opinion.

I was hoping for new Macbook Pros (and no its not unusual, 3-4 months between updates have been done 3 times before in the past 6 years)

Apple apple apple, what is going on? Your Mac-fan-base is finally growing and you switch over to another product. And now perhaps EVEN ANOTHER product (tablet)

Yeh i no but those boxes that way 20kg each can't be anything else that seams plausible!! they might not launch it at WWDC but they will launch them soon cause they are really behind the market on displays and it has been a while since the last update:)

Man I can't wait. I too was hoping on an announcement of new MBP's. But I'm afraid that due to the problems Intel is having with certain chips, we won't be seeing them anytime soon.
Which is unfortunate cause the MBP's are now slower than the news iMacs.

IPhone release or sale

So if AT&T is supposedly saying no vaca times during "DATE to DATE" what does that have to do with the iPhone? NADA ZIP all they do is run to the stock room and get one and you pay and leave, you cannot activate it there, sure the sales rep gets the commish on it but other than that, anyone of the untrained uneducated sales reps selling phones can do whats necessary and if theres a rebate or special pricing once again IHMO it will be done on line or the rep can deduct that from the charge at the store.

The only other alternate date I see or have read about is the 20th of June

Either way it'll be interesting to see what is actually in the iPhone for bells and whistles:apple:

They have done it before with the current Cinema display design. They were announced at the WWDC in 2004

The two bridges and "more ways than one" tag line are intriguing... that implies more than one major announcement. And the bridges in the illustration diverge, suggesting that the two products will differ substantially somehow.

We'll know soon.

Yeh Macbook and Macbook Pro are part of the show as well, even though those rumors have been neglected by the hype surrounding the iPhone.
i'm pretty sure we can confidently wait for such an announcement

Im pretty sure those are new cinema displays. According to the specs of the boxes it would be a safe bet that they are cinema displays:D

Well I'm hoping it's at WWDC!!!

About to buy my first Mac and Cinema Display, just waiting until WWDC announcements have been made before I make the plunge...
:)

Not unless there could be something special about them (built in apple tv with front row; a new lcd tv)??? I know nothing, just speculating.

I am glad it is on California time, which means I should be back from the dentist by the time all this kicks off..... Can't wait.

My WWDC wishlist...

1) 3G iPhone (easy one that, but I'd like to see OpenGL ES 2.0 support)
2) Tablet Mac (I can wish! Honestly, I'm surprised tablet PCs never took off.)
3) Xcode 3.1 and the SDK moved out of beta (don't know if this is due to coincide with Firmware 2.0's final release)
4) I'm looking to get a Mac Pro soon so Blu-ray drives on Mac Pro - though this has dropped down the list now I can get HD films on iTunes UK (which has also given me a reason to buy :apple:TV).

Remember, they took "Computer" out of their name. They went from Apple Computer, inc. to just Apple, inc. Seriously though, the future is shaping up on all sides to be the internet and mobile technology. Me, because of convience and security reasons - I still like my laptop with encrypted files. I hope they still continue to focus on the computer market.

Oh, and a tablet is a computer (hope it still has a keyboard, I am not one for typing on a virtual keyboard) - unless they take away the ports for peripherals, then it is just another PDA.

And yes, I am still one who makes permanate backups on CD/DVD. I have crashed to many hard drives, both internal and external and have had too many thumb drives just stop working. Because Cd's/DVD's tend to break down and crack in about a year or more. I remake all mine every year - gives me a chance to get rid of obsoelete information too.....

No Macbook / MacBook Pro mention?? :(

Not even a Mac hardware mention whatsoever.... :(

...I fear this may be a boring and unimpressive WWDC for non-iPhone users...
They would update them if their was any new technology to put into them.

I think we'll see the updates and redesigns at Macworld when Nehaelm comes out.

iphone w/o phone

I'd like to see all these features without the "talking" features, similar to what the touch is now. Of course the biggie is GPS, but it'd be cool to be able to download music and text message and have GPS and have internet access wherever you are, not just in a wi-fi hotspot. This would either have to be a whole different touch or a dumbed down version of the iphone; I'd be willing to give both a shot, and would even shell out $5 or $10 a mo for the service (not $70).
