Well, at the very least, we all hope for an immediate release date.

I'd like for an immediate release and I'm trying to plan if I should just take the day off and head to the ATT store on Monday.. but part of me just can't see Apple releasing a new phone with out any hype.. commercials, ad's.. etc.etc..

Well I definitely won't be getting an iPhone, I was just given a Bang & Olufsen Serene for my birthday today :D

I think you have it backwards. It's two bridges, both in the background (iPhone) and (Computer) going to the same place (.Mac/.Me.) in the foreground. There is no "surprise," its plainly representing total "convergence."

I'd say your right on target--)) ;)

Well, if you look at any tech blogs or rumor sites on the internet, that is a lot of hype. I would be weary taking the day off, because even if they are released that day, stores probably wouldn't get them till the next day, just like with the iMacs. Then again, maybe they are prepared for that, and when i get home from school I will gladly wait in that long line.

Does anyone think the new iphone will be on sale on the 9th..

Or is Apple just going to announce it and it won't be on sale until end of June beginning of July..

since the original iphone has been unavailable for the past month so Apple has to ship out as early as possible because a lot of their profits have been halted because of this shortage.:)

There better be a suprise macbook pro update other wise i am going to have to buy the current proccesor

Availability should be soon after the keynote, considering the loss of sales Apple is incurring due to the current lack of availability. But it doesn't have to be on the day of the keynote, just within a tolerably short interval. It is possible that Apple could announce the iPhone 3G on Tuesday and start selling it on Friday night (remember, Leopard first became available on a Friday night, as did the original iPhone).

Oh, and One...Last...Thing...

No new MacBook Pros

But iPhone released now. And all of you get one! For almost free. All we need are your souls. Oh, we already have them? THEY'RE YOURS...

no rumors around about new computer announcements ?

kinda disappointing

There were rumors about a bumped mini and rumors about a multi-touch tablet like device.

Those boxes could be the new device or the new 3G iPhone.

3G iPhone announced and will be shipping on 6/15.
Something else available 6/9 inmediatly.

Does apple still make macs? or ?? is it all iPhone that rules apple world ffs, stupid *ss iphone instead of updating their products.

just ain't looking forward to this WWDC :s/

iTunes 8

What ever happened to the iTunes 8 rumor? And Snow Leopard just seems like one of those fake rumors that Apple starts before one of their events. "security, stability, and performance" really seem like they should come in 10.5.4/10.5.5... There would be very little reason for "the vast majority of consumers" (for those who remember MW08) to get 10.6 if that is all it is offering.

Two things

First of all, everyone here who claims to be a Mac/Apple geek and is down on iPhones is missing the point. Apple has RETURNED to the market they started -- highly mobile, advanced computing devices. They STARTED this market with the Newton, and now they have returned in a major way. If you like Apple and you like computers, and don't like the iPhone, something is wrong with you, because this kind of device represents the next major frontier in computing. And the big story is, Apple is setting itself up to utterly DOMINATE this market, which in 5-10 years will probably be significantly larger than the laptop/desktop market. This in and of itself will lead to greater adoption of Macs across the board. REJOICE!

Second, just to throw some additional logs on the rumor fires... Someone I know who I completely believe (his relationship with a particular computer/gadget-maker makes this probable IMHO) told me a few days ago that he had a chance to see an iPhone, and basically all of the rumors floating around are true -- 3G, GPS, more memory, and yes, a forward-facing camera (which he did not see in action, so he could not confirm it was for video chatting.) I know it doesn't hold much/any weight, but when I heard this from this particular fellow, I kind of took the stance that this upcoming release is going to meet if not exceed even the most optimistic rumors, and we are all about to be very, very happy. Ah, first-gen iPhone, you have served me well over the past year, but I think you're about to take an early retirement... ;)

Didn't they just do an update to the laptops a few months ago? The new processor isn't ready yet, so what else are they going to do?

And didn't we just get an iMac update a few weeks ago?

I know everyone wants more, but come on. The MacPro and the mini both have a case for needing updates, but let's be reasonable people.

The iPhone is exciting new frontier for Apple that will only encourage new growth in the Mac lineup. I know 3 people who got iPhones and after having them for a few weeks, went out and bought new Macs after never owning Apple before.

Yeah... because it sucks so much...

Seeing as the processor to upgrade the MacBook Pros aren't out, you'll need to either wait another month or buy now.

wrong? processor has been out---intel is having issues with the wireless card and the gpu...neither of which apple uses in the mbp.

I cannot believe all these stupid iPhone rumors! Has the whole world gone mad? It's just a phone! You would think it was the cure for cancer all the coverage it gets. I wish for once Americans would get off their arses, their phones, and their computers to actually go outside and interact with humans. Video games and televisions have done something terrible to peoples lives. They have taken the humanity out of living, and distorted everyones perception of reality. Do yourselves a favor, and I mean you greedy little 14 year olds, and you technology consumed/obsessed adults and throw out your t.v.'s, video game consoles, and try to just use the computer once a week. Your life will be so much more full filling.

And especially to you people who render a phone "completely useless" because it doesn't have some nifty feature you want. Remember there are kids in this world that won't even be able to eat tonight. So be great full for what you have.

Anyway, I've said it before and I'll say it again, until the iPhone comes to other carriers in the U.S. it just isn't news worthy. And where are the Macbook rumors?

Those are pretty well thought out predictions; I can't quibble with any of them, with the exception of developers getting 64-bit OS X so soon. It would be great, but I'm not convinced that it's ready to go out to developers yet.

Can't wait to see what prediction you'll be making Monday...

Last year European journalists were invited to see the keynote at the BBC Centre. Some of us can't get to the centre in time, so we're trying to watch the feed in some other place. Does anyone know people there that have access to the satellite feed transponder data? (position, frequency, polarization, symbolrate etc)

So if AT&T is supposedly saying no vaca times during "DATE to DATE" what does that have to do with the iPhone? NADA ZIP all they do is run to the stock room and get one and you pay and leave, you cannot activate it there, sure the sales rep gets the commish on it but other than that, anyone of the untrained uneducated sales reps selling phones can do whats necessary and if theres a rebate or special pricing once again IHMO it will be done on line or the rep can deduct that from the charge at the store.

The only other alternate date I see or have read about is the 20th of June

Either way it'll be interesting to see what is actually in the iPhone for bells and whistles:apple:

Last year they blocked off the same timeframe roughly and the iPhone was released at the end of June. There's going to be insane demand for this thing, the vacation limit is definitely because of the second coming....of the iPhone.

What is everyone expecting Apple to do with the MacBook's and MacBook Pro's?????

I think we are all aware that any case redesign is going to coincide with something that actually affects how the thing works, in which case it appears it is time to bone up on Intel's mobile roadmap and stop complaining.

The iPhone is a big deal, whether you use one or not... I, for one, can't wait to see what hardware really is included in the new version, and to see what developers crank out when the SDK is out of beta and the App Store opens up. Bring it on!
