Literally dumbfounded with how bad the whole experience was. Spending ages on ‘almost there’ - preorder info failing to load - trade in service not available - experiencing issues - everything about the whole thing was an utter shambles.

Had to settle for a delivery 2nd to 9th of October and I wish I had preordered elsewhere, Apple seriously dropped the ball here.

Should be ashamed.

I kept refreshing Apple's store for 15 minutes, gave up and went to a third party which were having issues of their own, and went back to Apple to find the release day allocation was already exhausted.

I ended up getting release day stock from a local retailer.

I had the same issue - was stuck on 'Almost there' for 30 minutes. I got through and still managed a release-day pickup but as this was my first time doing pre-order, I was not impressed.

I'm really annoyed too!!!

I've pre ordered with Apple before and it's been flawless but this time when I finally got through on the app my saved items were gone so that frustrated me and then the app crashed multiple times when I was adding the phones to my basket.

Then I used my MacBook which was still showing 'almost ready' so I kept refreshing until I navigated to 'view pricing' and that's how I got through to order.

AND because of the whole palaver I was lucky to get my Pro for launch but my brothers Pro Max has the 27-2 date.

If they are doing worldwide pre orders at the same time for EVERYONE again next year, I'm definitely going to order from somewhere else instead.

Last years was much better from the app standpoint. This year, I kept closing/reopening the app, got in, my order that I saved was gone. Closed the app, then it was back and it let me checkout somehow. My dad and bro got later delivery dates, I ended up with 9/22. I used to pre order with numerous browser tabs, different devices and the app, looks like after this years mess I might have to go back to doing that last year.. you would think Apple would have something like this perfected, but guess not.

It was indeed bad this year. I got in 5 mins after and luckily snatched a what I wanted (15PM natural 256GB) that I’ll be picking up at apple next Friday @ 5PM. My sisters got in 10 mins later and got October 9. My dads I managed to get till October 15. Last year it wasn’t like this.

It's interesting how experience was different for everyone. My only problem was inability to get into the store until 8:18 EST. Once I got in, check out was a breeze. Couldn't secure launch day delivery, but managed to get launch day in-store pick up.
I am sorry some people had the app/website crash on them, delivery/pick up screwed up, etc.

I gave up. Just a laughable mess and I need nothing that much. So I wait an extra few days OH NO.

Phrases like: "We are exited too, but you must wait now". Best Buy was something like "Try again".
Then, my Apple Card red-flagged my iPhone purchase, smart.

Yeah store was down for 20 minutes and as soon as it was back up deliveries were already late October....not smooth at all like last year's release...

seems like they attempt to introduce a queue system on this years preorder which screwed up badly.

customers seems to be randomly admitted into the store.

i opened both safari and apple store app.

i got admitted earlier on the safari web (which caught me by surprise) and i frantically placed order my first order when shipping times already slipped into second week.

and i have to place the order as guest order in order to not waste any more time

thankfully my friend told me there are still sets available for self-collection at launch date, and i went and made a second order.

all while the app freezes at the "finishing touches" page

Exact opposite experience. App let me in at 8:02 and by 8:03 I was done. I am IUP and I responded to their email and set up the order on the app. All I had to do was pick a pick up time and press submit.

Trust me, I’ve had experiences like yours in times past.

Last year, ordering was easy and 3 minutes past 5am, order was set for launch day. Then a few days before delivery, it got shifted 2 weeks later.

Got mad, ordered on launch day, the same phone thru Apple store, had it delivered by Uber for $9 more on launch day.

Returned the 2 week later ordered phone after opening it up and leaving a nice "FU" note for Apple.

Same here stuck on almost there message of death

When people were saying pre-orders has already started, well, not on my side. And when I finally got through, the shipping date was already pushed to mid October.

That sucks man. Took me about 2 minutes to order mine. I was actually talking to my wife about how huge of a difference it is now, compared to back in the day, when servers got overloaded and sometimes crashed at release ^^

I had 4 approaches working in parallel:
1, iPhone via App Store connected via cellular provider
2, iPad via App Store connected to WiFi
3, Mac via FireFox on www.apple.com connected to LAN
4, Mac via Safari on www.apple.com connected to iCloud Private Relay

The 4th option came back at 2 after and I was able to complete two orders, one for each of my “Get ready for preorder” configured phones, which I completed without issue in about 30 seconds. The other 3 options were stuck on “Almost there” until at least 18 after, which is when Natural Titanium configurations started slipping. I stopped watching at that point.
