Defiantly regional issues. In Miami it was brutal. From the 10 people I know who were pre ordering same time only I managed to get a launch day 15PM for next Friday. Picking up Apple Store @ 5:30 pm.
As an example, the website never loaded for me, even after 30 minutes, but I was able to order from the app store app. But my cousin several states to the west was able to order immediately from the website but the app store app never worked for her. Definitely regional.

I was really tempted but I'm doing the Citizen's Bank financing + trade-in so I'm not sure I can swap it out. :/ I wonder if I can cancel and reorder for pickup that morning if I see 6am stock?
You can. Once you have dibs on a phone, you can cancel your order method and redo it with another. Just make sure the Apple retail worker understands this. When you get to the store and they bring your phone out, that's unequivocal evidence you could go home with a phone. Remember, at this point, the phone is fungible with an identical model so the worker can physically do the process I described above.
 
This was my first preorder experience where I was ready before they opened the website. I didn't realise there were any issues. It took 2 mins fot the website to let me in, I went to my account and selected the order I had already had authorised and it went through straight away. Looks like I got lucky then.

I would have to cancel first and then place the order right? Not sure I want to risk it disappearing in the time I’m trying to get the new order placed. It’d be cool if I could order for pickup, pick it up, then cancel my OG preorder that’s for 9-16.

You cancel in the store when after they bring out the physical phone
 
Trust me, my experience was even worse. I tried to do 24 months financing and the bank server was completely overloaded. I have a delivery date sometimes in November now. Just great.. two of my attempts got canceled cause I could not complete filling in my data within 24 hours of ordering, really ******!
Literally dumbfounded with how bad the whole experience was. Spending ages on ‘almost there’ - preorder info failing to load - trade in service not available - experiencing issues - everything about the whole thing was an utter shambles.

Had to settle for a delivery 2nd to 9th of October and I wish I had preordered elsewhere, Apple seriously dropped the ball here.

Should be ashamed.
 
Well, no problems here. Telekom almost surprised me by being available, smooth and fast when I ordered the 15Pro. Ordered the AW9 via AppleStore and that worked pretty smooth as well (although it will arrive early October). I only wish I could order the AW w/o a band as I have my own...

Very true…but the excitement of getting an opening day iPhone is deflating when it’s not something of your doing.

When you do the exact same thing as others but miss out and they don’t, it’s disheartening.

I’m so old that it no longer bothers me. But I understand how others that would like to join in on the opening day conversations won’t be able to through no fault of their own.

I think many here get caught up in the fanfare and want to share with others on 9/22. It’s Apple Christmas for many. If the same people had kids who were throwing a fit over possibly not getting an item on a set day, I would venture to say said kids would get a talking to.

Absolutely agree!

This is where all the Apple crazies come to celebrate. I alway enjoy hearing their excited stories on launch day.

I have 2 coming on launch day (wife and daughter). Mine is slated for Oct 4-9 due to the glitches discussed.

September is like Christmas for Macrumors patrons!

And then a week later, once the dust settles you are second guessing the upgrade, happens every time in my case...
 
One of the two Best Buy stores in our city that I normally pre-order from, which ended up being not so good last night, didn't have in-store pick-up but delivery only for AT&T customers. In addition, the current device had to be surrendered.

It seems all the risk is on the customer. Human nature is to want something you don't have that others do. Not trying to impugn the integrity of delivery drivers but definitely porch pirates, if the new device is stolen then too bad especially with headache of filing a claim.

When I got home last night, I was able to pre-order two Natural Titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max 512GB on AT&T with in-store pick-up at the other Best Buy in our city.

I had ordered then. I’m still waiting for anything to change on my order.
Had a bad few days due to a significant bereavement which led to me using this forum as a vent, which was inappropriate and unfair.
I’ve apologised directly to those involved.
I feel ashamed, and I’d really rather not feel any worse. I was wrong and I know it - I’m sorry to anyone I annoyed or upset.

I'm sure no one here bears a grudge, don't sweat it. Sorry to hear of the bereavement.

We have all been there mate, I’ve been suspended 4 times in 10 years of being a member here.

Thank you mate. Appreciate the kind words - still no excuse at all for me being an idiot but really appreciate the comments from you and Martin. I think Sparkie1984 put me on ignore (and understandably so) - if anyone could find it in themselves to let him know that I’m sorry and had messaged him to say so, would be great. Thank you all

I ordered through Apple this year as well usually go through Verizon I have a horrible November ship date. I think it will get here much sooner but it’s disheartening to see a date so far out. Your day isn’t that far out. I know it’s frustrating and disappointing but it will arrive probably sooner than you expected.

I hope yours comes sooner mate. Mine says 2nd to 9th Oct. In real terms, not remotely the end of the world. It’s just a phone at the end of the day - my iPhone 12 will do most of the same things anyway (expect keep any kind of decent charge). It’s just that new release envy where I just want it NOW because I have no patience.
