Lets see, what I dislike about school:
-Finding my few friends in the sea of people that I exist in as just a drop of fresh, clear water.
-Lunch (WTH, the hamburgers are fused with the buns)
-Being away from my MBP
-Seeing the fat kid abuse his iPhone
-Waking up.
-Syllabi aren't too bad, heck it's better than actual work!
-Seeing the really hot girl surrounded by creepy boys.
-That one kid that does every drug out there in the bathroom and is really really annoying when he sings vulgar songs about things I dare not say for risk of getting banned.

I forgot to add buying textbooks and maxing out my credit card on textbooks (and yes my card is currently maxed out).

I actually look forward to my principal's speeches/assemblies. I think he misinterprets meanings of stories a lot and he has this very thick Irish accent.

Black History Month:
He made all the Black students sit in the front row of the auditorium while an all Caucasian calypso band played steel drums. He started off his unrehearsed speech by saying "It's no wonder we celebrate black history in February, the shortest month of the year".

Annual "The Giving Tree" Reading:
He reads us "The Giving Tree" (by Shel Silverstien?), with the pictures from the (children's) scanned in and projected. Basically its about this kid that's friends with a tree and the kid grows up and basically takes everything from the tree- branches for his house, apples to feed himself, and in the end the stump to sit on. I interpreted it as the tree is a complete tool and gets used by the boy. My principal think's it means give up everything you have to help others, which doesn't really have anything to do with academics.

I could go on... haha. They're so stupid.

Today working at school the teachers had to watch a movie on how to be a good lecturer and deal with obnoxious and mocking students. Afterwards they had to discuss in small groups on what they learned in the movie. I guess we're not the only one's that have to do time wasting crap.

I just hate getting up early. School isn't that bad, but I just can't stand waking up at 7 every morning (and that is considered late for some people!)

I was always nervous about the first day of school/college/uni. Regardless of the year I was in. But along the way I realised that probably a lot of people were nervous too and that made me feel better :)

If anything I find it's parents making a big deal of it. Which I suppose it is to them!

I really miss getting up mega early for school. I was a bit of a mad un back in school. Used to get the bus at 6:45am cuz they were empty and just chat with a few mates till school started 2 hours later. Minidisc playing, using the old G3 iMacs, trying to convince a certain friend that the Gamecube really was going to use Mini DVDs :D

To anyone in school - make the most of it. They really are fantastic years!

Dealing with the Junior High students, I don't know any of them.

p.s. our high school is 7-12 and has a total of about 120 students.

Holy crap! We're up to 3000ish at my 9-12 grade school because 400 seniors graduated and left...and 1000 freshmen came in.

My school had 650 students last year.

We have 40 new students this year, new as in they are new to the town.

Thats a lot more people.

I hate getting up so early to get to school. And now since I started High School this year I have to leave home earlier to catch the bus.
Not only that, but all of my teachers are really boring except 2 out of my 4 teachers.
And the syallabii(?)? Oh my gosh, we already know this, why do we have to get it again?
And why can't the school put out a regular supply list so I can get the required supplies before school starts? They expect you to have everything completely bought and turned in by friday.
Ah, well at least we have monday off for labor day!:)

Wow! Try having to be with 1000+ freshman from 8:45 to 4:05 and 4 periods a day at a 9th only campus !

So not all of them, not 90%, but half of them!

And what type of high school do you go to where you only have 4 teachers!

I go to an all 9th grade campus only. I have 4 teachers this semester. My High School runs on an accelerated block schedule where we have 4 teachers everyday of the week, but our classes are 90 minutes long instead of 50. In the second semester we get our other 4 teachers. Usually a student has 2 core classes a semester and two elective classes.
I know that is confusing...

Is that a freshman, or just a Brit :p

A Brit would have seen that huge Ford grill in front of them and remembered they were in America ... so yeah it's a freshman, and because they couldn't park, they took up two spaces!

And that's not even the start of it, I've been parking there for the past 3 years and this first week of school is the only time I have had problems parking there, 4 spaces were wasted on this one street because people can't park in the paint, well my car wouldn't fit at least, only a geo or mini coop would have.

Wow you are small, my graduating class was 600 but wait only 300 where able to walk on graduation. Thats how sad my edumecation was.

Worst thing about the first day of school:

Everyone goes to class. I go to ASU which has the largest undergrad student body in the country, and doing anything on campus sucks. If you plan on buying any food on campus you'll be waiting in like for 15-20 minutes. I'm glad I don't drive to school, because a lot of my friends had complained about parking.

And a lot of the buildings on campus are 30-40 years old, which means they were built before everyone got fat, so the hallways are really narrow/crowded.

Coming up on the 3rd week now though, which means that people are already not going to class/dropping out, so it's going to get better.

What I love about the first day/week of school:

So much free stuff.

My problem was always insomnia the night before the first day of school. It never mattered that my bedtime wasn't changing, I still had trouble sleeping the night before, even in college.

I hate seeing old teachers and them wanting to talk to me, especially ones I don't like.

I really wish I was joking about this, but at my school, the "salad" is a tiny plastic bowl with half a leaf of lettuce and a slice of tomato. You're supposed to buy it with the grape-sized apple and the spicy "chicken" sandwich, all for the low, low price of $2.

That would've costed $4 in my school. Just a salad would cost $2-3. Good thing we have a mall nearby, and though it's more expensive, it taste a lot better :)
What I hate about first day of school:
- having to remember my new locker combination
- we also have stupid "advisary" stuff- talk about yourself, what do you want to be, questionnaires that you ask your classmates etc etc etc.
- seeing all the people that you hate again - summer makes it seem that they disappeared.
- of course, homework :(.
- Getting up early. This year, I have to wake up around 5:30 to get to my 7:00 class.
- the annoying gr.8s that think they're soo cool just because they're in high school, hyper, obnoxious and loud all the time, crowding up the hallway.

What do I dislike about high school...

Niners - They just graduated public school (which of course, equals coolest people ever :p), they travel in herds of at least 40 and they carry their books at all times (we have lockers for a reason). I may have been one once, but I seriously couldn't have been that bad right?

English Class - but it's not till second semester for me this year

75 minute classes (blegh!)

Getting on the bus a half hour earlier than in Grade's 9, 10 and 11.

Having spare first period. This is even worse on days when I have band, have to be at the school at 7:30 for an hour practise and then get to sit around from 8:30 till 10:15 when my classes start.

Having to deal with the guidance councillors who are a necessary evil on the path to college. My school only picks idiots for this job, even since my Mom was there.

The worst thing about school for me was realizing that I only had one class with my best friend, and in some classes I barely knew anybody.

That, and I don't like the majority of my teachers, its hot as hell inside due to the lack of air conditioning when its 90 degrees outside, having assigned seats at lunch, and seeing everybody who I tried to forget about over the sumer.

Bleh :(
