.....If I had a said time machine.....went forward about 4 months......got the iphone 5.....came back present day......Tell the world i got the iphone 5 before anyone!....

:D

could I go to jail? this is all hypothetical, I'm not saying I actually did travel through time because I think Albert proved it impossible but he's been dead for some time now what does he know?

This is just wonderful...

*cough*

I think that Apple is the least of your worries.

The moment that the US government figured out that you really had a working time machine, you'd disappear into the blackest project security imaginable.

(God help you if the mob figured it out first.)

Owning a time machine = good idea.

Letting anyone know you have one = very bad idea :)

If I had a time machine and could go into the future, the iPhone 5 would be low on my list of things to do.

Time travel is impossible with today's technology so why even ask? It's impossible.

Really? I thought I saw time machines for sale on Amazon.com. - No kidding it's impossible ; it's a thread about hypothetical situation and we're all having a little fun with it.

Just go with it. ;)

Cool thread. Love to think of time travel, and would probably be more inclined to worry about more than the iPhone.

Be that as it may, gotta love the -35 the OP got on his thread. Too funny.

OP- nice thread, at least it's interesting!

I'm sorry but if I had a time machine, I would be heading backwards and buying a **** ton of apple stock and a few other companies like google and Berkshire Hathaway. I'd be right up their with Warren Buffett

Okay so if you went forward in time and acquired an iPhone 5 that maybe you weren't meant to have even for the "you" of that time period. What kind of paradox does it create by Taking that iPhone out of that space time? What happens to the real person meant to own that iPhone you removed from that space time?

Let's not forget what would happen if you actually returned to your own time with the iPhone and this future tech somehow stumbled into someone else's hands. They take it and create an even more advanced iPhone. So does the iPhone that you originally brought back from the future exist anymore after that idea has been altered?

if you could do that, why the F would you get an iphone. why wouldn't you do something for the betterment of humanity

It would take a civilization far more advanced than ours, unbelievably advanced, to begin to manipulate negative energy to create gateways to the past. But if you could obtain large quantities of negative energy -- and that's a big "if" -- then you could create a time machine that apparently obeys Einstein's equation and perhaps the laws of quantum theory.

Well it would take a civilization far more advanced than ours to travel into the future (which is proven to be possible), let alone to travel back to the past. Traveling into the past is a whole different can of worms than traveling into the future.

When I say traveling into the future ... I mean - significant amounts... days, weeks, months, years... and with a human.

----------

it's impossible because we are living in the past right now...

Yeah? Living in which past? Past relative to whom?

We already time travel. As imperceptional as it may be, those on the space station are actually doing just that. In fact all the gps satellites are doing the same. Thats why they constantly must be adjusted for earth time because their time is slightly faster than earth time, thus in the future compared to us.

Exactly. That proves relativity and that time travel is possible. But getting a human to travel into the future is quite different. Let alone, into the past.

Just make sure you buy it at an Apple store and keep your original (dated) receipt. ;)

It's really a question about law. You haven't stolen anything, but you are performing industrial espionage? Is that grounds for a lawsuit?
