If it's running iOS in its current form (sandboxed apps), no thanks. I want access to an actual file system. That's really my only complaint with iOS. Hmm, I really should give some serious thought to jailbreaking my iPads.

I don't necessarily believe we will see a bigger iPad next year but if we do I could imagine a viable audience for it. I could see the new device being marketed as a family iPad with multiple profiles. The larger panel would be better than the existing smaller iPads for multiplayer games like Air Hockey or Monopoly. Also, the "Pro" could easily emulate a TV for movie watching provided that the screen is 16:9.

If anything kills the idea of an Ipad Pro, it's the sure to be astronomical price Apple will charge for it. I expect it will cost nearly twice the amount of a PS4.

If it runs a touch version of OS X and replaces the MacBook Air line so to speak, it makes sense.

It has to be sleek with text input and touch input...

Hmm, how about an OS X version that you can run all the regular apps on and the ability to run iOS apps that are more suitable? That sounds like it'd be a viable laptop replacement at that size.

Though for those of us who already own MacBooks it'd be hard to justify a device like this, especially if you already have a 9.7" iPad.

I see it though, for all the iDevice people who don't own apple computers, this could be a great way to get them into the game so to speak.

OS X is awesome, it knocks the socks off of any other OS (desktop or mobile) for casual to super geeky power users, I'm down for more OS X.

I'd love a supersized version of the Air.. That would be my definite laptop replacement! I really hope Apple makes It happen!

If it's simply larger then not interested. If it is wide screen then different story.

I'm not really sure. The Air is perfect for me now because I can hold it with 1 hand and type with the other. A larger iPad would certainly have to rest on my lap and I'd have to use 2 hands. That doesn't allow for the level of comfort I gave now with the Air, or others the mini. I'm sure the device would cost a lot too. I have my doubts if the rumor is true.

That would make things interesting. If it was wide and/or had a higher resolution I might take a look. Still though I think a tablet should be usable with 1 hand.

It would depend on what else they bring to the table with it. Id love a 13" Tablet from Apple, but not with iOS... But it all depends, it must have a price tag to justify the purchase. Most likely a no for me; but who knows, after my tax returns, I may be enticed.

I used to want one. It sounds like a good idea... until you realize Apple will probably still push their uniform resolution philosophy. It would literally be a bigger iPad, with a smaller PPI because the pixels would have to be larger.

I only want one if the screen resolution increases with the size. That won't happen if Apple sticks with their screen philosophy, in which case why bother making a bigger one without some fragmentation? Laptops get away with it because Mac apps don't run at a specific size. iPads are different, apparently.

Yes. If it ran OSX and has a USB port I think it would provide a lot of functionality. On my end, it would allow me to dump my MacBook Pro for a lighter, touch screen alternative (great for presentations and teaching).

My set up would be: iMac, iPad Pro, iPad Mini (for portability).

Isn't there already MacBook Air with 13in screen?

Yes but a tablet and a laptop are not the same thing. Something Apple's competitors seem to struggle with.

I say this as someone who carries both an iPad Air and a Macbook Air.

This will happen 100% because the market needs a tablet that is good at productivity and is made by apple with their amazing screens and UI. Steve was never one to ignore the education market, and this would be no exception. The use a tablet of this size in the education and professional markets would really reopen a massive revenue stream if the device can be truly productive. The potential for creatives in the arts and entertainment industries could be major as well if they develop an API that lets an attached keyboard like surface take on what ever UI control is necessary by the app running. I think if implemented properly, this device could be a game changer. This isn't about evolving the current form factor of the iPad anymore, it's more about merging laptop class power and apps with the touch interface of an iPad. I passed on the air because it doesn't allow me to do something I couldn't do already, but a pro would have me sold in a split second.

Not me. I wasn't interested in the Ipad until it came out in a mini-form factor, so something even larger wouldn't interest me.

Unless it worked with pen based input; that would make me consider it.

We of course dont know the specs of the Pro, but assuming it's just a bigger iPad, what would you be able to do you couldn't do already?

I'm hoping for new features, like a work around for the sand boxing problem, some connectivity ports (unlikely) and 1TB storage option. Then we can talk... :p

I agree with the "we need a revamped iPad iOS for a larger tablet." I don't however see a big change happening within the next year, especially with Apple busy trying to bring iOS 7 up to par.

What makes me doubt any sort of OS X going on the proposed iPad Pro is what Tim Cook said at the iPad Air keynote, regarding the competitors having no set plan, while Apple has a set plan (regarding trying to merge desktop and tablet).

Who said the pro would be just a larger iPad? I just finished describing what a pro "could" be. An iPad 4 is perfectly up to the tasks I could ask it to do. The lighter weight and more power is just a minor benefit to me. I've got my iphone for ultimate portability. Give me a device that will do what my desktop and laptop can do combined with the UI of iPad and do it in a way I haven't done before, I'm in.
