Yeah, lets take it a step further.

I want messages coming from an AI and not a person to be marked as such.

... and when I receive such messages, I can have my own AI that generates and sends an appropriate reply. So the entire conversation can be made without ever bothering me. Nice huh? 🤪

if mr jobs was still with us - wonder if he would have foreseen AI coming and jumped on it way before aapl is just starting now

Is this going to lead to a whole new era of people's texts sounding like they were written by ChatGPT? 🤖

It's going to be hilarious when all these AI merchants go to have a conversation in person without their little assistant typing their message for them lol

I don’t really need generative AI, I need Siri to be at least as smart as gpt-4.. right now she is like 2 generations behind other AI like Google assistant or even Amazon’s Alexa

If you reply instantly you will be expected to reply instantly and whether its your boss or your partner the moment you don't it becomes trouble. You are then a slave to notifications.
It just sounds like you’re communicating with the wrong people.
If your friend or partner can’t understand that sometimes you’re busy and sometimes you’re not, that sounds like a boundary *you* need to set.
I have never found this to be the case, and sometimes I respond within a minute and other times I respond days later.

Obviously, a boss is a totally different type of situation…

It looks like it will make communications even more instantaneous. This is not what we want.

Always wait at least a few minutes before sending a reply to a message

This is great advice for so many reasons. I've regretted so many texts I've sent right away. Gotta have time to think about things.

Since GPT is essentially extremely advanced autocorrect, it could be helpful in some scenarios. Like everyone else I don't like the idea of it writing things for us and making us generally dumber. It does have applications where it could be enhancing, like re-writing something you wrote. More like a highly advanced thesaurus, better spell check with context awareness, etc.

The autocorrect in iOS 17 is literally GPT-2, so if you have that turned on, you're already doing it.

So to answer the question of help write messages, maybe.

I just wish I had the same level of courage in life as people who let Siri auto-send the message after they dictate it without proofing it...

I welcome anything that improves Siri's understanding of what I'm saying.

Would I let Siri help me write me a message?

I already do! That’s why I’ve been typing this for three hours while the room lights switch on and off …

At least you can get Siri to turn your lights on and off? That's better than my Siri.

No because Siri is too dumb to even compose a coherent message. It would probably say something like "Here is an internet search for that" or something.
