I was just wondering if you guys would love to see a QWERTY keyboard added to the iphone, like the Palm Pre? I know many people have problems texting with virtual keyboards (especially the BlackBerry Storm) because they are too slow and for some other reasons. ;)

VOTE PLEASE:)

IN ADDITION (from jmann): Imagine keeping everything the same, just that a qwerty keyboard slider is added to the bottom of the iphone, and people have the option of typing with the physical keyboard, and a virtual keyboard.

NO and I believe this was discussed.
Thicker phone? No thanks.
Smaller screen? No thanks.

I would not say small screen. I would say, same everything, except apple adds a sliding qwerty keyboard;)

Pretty sure that would make it thicker and heavier.

A physical keyboard is an awful idea.

Hopefully some 3rd party will make an add-on. Then these kinds of threads can stop.

maybe an attachment will be made, but no way. they would lose a lot of sale if they did this. people already complain about the touchboard keys being too small for their fingers. a physical board will have even smaller keys in order to fit them all

IMO, the idea of physical keyboard is silly. I personally need 5 differenct layouts. Two of that uses handwriting. I also want to be able to use it either landscape of portrait, which physical keyboard can't do.

Also, it is simply too slow and clumpsy as compared to the wonderful iPhone keyboard.

Physical keyboards feel as though things are going backwards.

I have a BB Curve and I've grown to hate the keyboard.

Wow!, Good to know this opinions for a classroom presentation.

most opinions are about the iphone getting fatter!:D

hmmmm.

and Sorry guys if i repeated this thread ,:D, i just don't read all the billion threads on this website, so how should I know?

if at all maybe a full sized external keyboard... which i wish i could sell an app to take notes with an external keyboard....sigh....i dont know how to code.

I hate to be "that guy", but before you start a new thread, you could try the "Search Forums" option that is at the top right of the page.

You don't have to read through the "billion threads".

No big deal though.

for me it's vice-versa, the virtual keyboard, is slow, and has a weird feeling,

but on my blackberry, i type quick! without many spelling errors:D

How else do you propose a full size keyboard that does not increase the thickness of the device or decrease the size of the screen?

Maybe... apple invents a qwerty keyboard, that will not make the iphone fat!, but it would actually extend the iphone by height. idk if that was clear?

imagine an iphone and you slide a keyboard, with the same thickness as the iphone but it comes from the bottom middle, and the USB dock is moved to the side, similar to a blackberry. Where the micro USB is in the side, capable for charging and syncing.

(i know it sounds crazy, but just an idea, lol)

But you would only have a keyboard for landscape.... What about portrait? Touch screen? I don't like physical phone keyboards anymore personally, unless it's a sidekick , that phone has the best keyboard of ANY phone.

I used to own an HTC Athena, with magnetically detacheable keyboard. I never used the keyboard.

I conducted a poll among the Athena owner before. About half simply leave the keyboard behind and use the on-screen keyboard, whie the other half use it. I'm among the half who just let the keyboard gather dust at home.

The on-screen keyboard on winmo devices are not half as easy to use as iPhone's. I would expect most people to be extremely happy with the stock on-screen keyboard. It is honestly very very good.
