the only bright side

Is that AT&T has been really helpful and they are monitoring if someone tries to activate it and if so then maybe they can talk to them of have my cop brother in law pay them a visit. if worst comes to worst I can pay and early upgrade fee next month, if it were any other phone they would do it right away but one you have an iphone you really can't get another phone. :apple:

by the way

If any of those people who got 2 iphones by mistake wanna send one to a hard working nurse who in all likely got screwed by the family of the people she is trying to help I am all for it thanks

Well I do now

do you have mobile me? you can locate it? then bust a door down?

I wasn't sure that it would be something I needed but BOY WAY I WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY WRONG! my other iphone has it now and the next one I get whether it be the one I bought or a new one I buy it will it soooooo will, can I use one account on multiple phones?

Sorry about your loss.

I hope that the guy who took it is a dummy and might use it for a while before changing sim cards! This is a slim chance!

I guess that, once you get the replacment iPhones (& the current ones you have) put the password protection on, and make it erase all data after 10 password attempts!

You have mobileme now, so that shall presumably make it esaier if you lose or misplace the remaining/replacement iPhone/s.

I see why people shoot co-workers! Please hold your peace!

that's a bummer

My bet is on the hospital staff. Anyway, I'm sorry you couldn't locate it via Mobileme.

One guy told a story of tracking his with his friend's laptop on the streets of Chicago. Who knows if it was true.

But it was entertaining. I've enabled mobileme with the find function. If you lose it, you have a short window based on how much power it has left and if taken, if your sim is still in it.

You have my condolences on the loss. Really there are plenty of people who given the opportunity will steal.

Side story, my old boss is a physician and I gave him a fake Rolex as a joke. He left it on the sink counter in the hospital's physicians locker room and when he came back to get it, it was gone. Of note is that ONLY docs are allowed in the room during normal business hours. So some other well heeled doc picked it up. I am sure the thief was scratching his head on the quality of the watch.

I have a rather larger watch collection. I was taking some of the collection to my watchmaker for cleaning/maintenance and had to bring my car in for service. The Mercedes dealer provides me with a loaner car if the work will take longer than an hour (which in this case it was going to), so I took my belongings (including the watchbox with about 6 watches in it I had in a bag) with me in the loaner car.
After returning from the watchmaker and picking up my car I noticed when I arrived home that I didn't have my watchbox. I immediately called the dealer and he told me the loaner car was being cleaned and he would check the trunk for the watchbox. I wasn't worried too much because i have been going to this dealer for some time and it has quite a reputation for being among the best...
My Service Advisor had told me not to worry as they have found everything from diamond rings to huge wads of cash left in vehicles and they never once had a complaint about anything being stolen.

Unfortuneately for me there seems to be a first time for everything. When the dealership called to tell me the watchebox had been located, I was quite relieved. Upon picking up the box, I just happened to look inside and to my dismay, three very expensive watches were missing (just the ones with "gold" on them).

Long story short (ok, maybe not so short), I filed a police report, called my insurance company (home insurance) and was reimbursed for the market value of the watches in very short order. Yes, I guess it can be somewhat considered my fault for leaving the watchbox in the loaner car, but my point is, it can happen anywhere and one should check to see if your home insurance will cover the theft...

Sucks about your phone BUT your wife is making good money as a RN and should be able to afford a replacement! And tell her to not let it out of her sight anywhere.

And the MobileME locate feature is useless if the gps is off.

that maybe true

we both make good money in our professions but as it stands we do have bills college loans 2 cars and a mortgage oh and a two year old, so if I can get one for 200 again or free some how I am gonna try, to the poster who commented on my grammar and maybe even my spelling THIS IS A BLOG WHO GIVES A RAT'S (NOTICE THE APOSTROPHE) ASS!!

I am tryin to convince my mom to come to my account so that I can get the iphone cheaper and then get her a phone that will do what she needs (ie make calls)

Just so everyone knows

I don't think think many people know this BUT tracking by SIM card for a lost or stolen phone isn't the only wya to track it. IMEI number is built (like a MAC address on a NIC) into the phone and AT&T can track to see if it has been used on another account

Best buy card...

to the OP...I hope you have account shield on your best buy card. If you do then you can just call HSBC (look for the number on the card) and tell them that you lost the phone. If i remember correctly...if you have account shield it covers you for stolen items..but all it does is defer those payments. Hope this helps... (i used to work for Best Buy)
