Because maybe he likes his iPhone but wants the full blown Google Maps app?

sorry about that i thought he said google products, but hes really on referring to google maps.

I think those hoping google releases maps for ios are wishful thinkers. Apple just replaced their map service for their own. The reason for this was for iphone users to use apple's maps. Why would they turn around and approve a google map app that would just have all the iphone users back on google maps anyways?

Google maps will no longer be available for iphone users, unless you go to it from your browser. Pretty sad.

I've given you evidence that apple definitely has some data they are holding back, but you ignore it as it proves you wrong......

Lets talk about your evidence for a moment.

The first picture is the Las Vegas strip as seen in the Maps app.

The second is the C3 3d maps imagine in the same spot (roughly) of the Las Vegas strip.

As you can clearly see they aren't even using the existing C3 data, so your "evidence" is completely meaningless.

It looks like they've updated Vegas. That's all. They still have the data from C3, so there's nothing to say that they won't use it. They will either add it in on release, or they've updated all the existing C3 cities with more up to date versions and will enable them at launch. Either way they have the data to add in......

There is no logic to say that apple won't use existing C3 data for cities they haven't enabled in 3D, otherwise why buy the company out just to delete all the existing data?! It's a foolish notion....

It's not just about holding back data (which in itself seems unlikely but sure they could be finalizing deals for more high-res imagery). The quality of the maps - not just the pictures or 3D views - is crap. Errors abound. For instance, Kristiansand, Norway's fifth largest, city is gone, replaced by Kardemommeby, a fictional town in a classic children's tale. Yes, they renamed a city to a town from a book.

This is such a weird mistake that one have to ask where they are getting it from.

LOL at the first fake picture. Where are all the cars on las vegas blvd? Fake 3d images whoopie!!!

I had to use the new maps for the first time yesterday... Worst experience of my life. Glad I had waze installed.

For me it wasn't the data.. It was actual bugs which will be possibly fixed.

Turn by turn navigation doe snot work at all on my 4S :(. I tap route, and start.. The green signs pop up. But my blue dot doe snot move, and no voice prompts. Plush crashing and other things.

Anyone else have similar issues and a fix with out restoring?:D

Take a closer look (particularly on the intersection directly below the bridge. The cars are faded into the road. That could be done intentionally, but I doubt it because the cars in the parking lot are visible. My guess is that the since pictures are constantly being taken of the same area for approx an hour, the software uses an advanced algorithm which kind of "averages" all the images together, resulting in all the moving images virtually disappearing. That doesn't make the image fake...

Edit: Now why do the C3 images show the cars? It uses a different (probably less advanced) algorithm.

It took 3 to 4 years for Street View to hit my street. I live out in the "middle of nowhere" so how long till Apple has 3D Flyover of my area?

I have not used iOS 6 yet, but the decision to move away from google maps surprised me. It's really a pretty much flawless product, and I'll probably install their inevitable standalone app when iOS comes out.

Better question is how long until Apple has their own version of StreetView which is MUCH more useful than flyover anyway! They don't have it anywhere yet so you're looking at quite the wait. As a real estate developer, street view has become a crucial aspect of my daily work life. If Google Maps isn't released for the iPhone, I will probably make the switch back to Android.

Im sure Apple will work out these bugs by the GM

Yelp/Apple claims 100MM business listings. Google maps has 80MM. Does anyone know this to be fact?? Guessing USA but not sure.

Yep existing apps that embed Google maps already use Apple maps instead. They may go as far as blocking it in Safari as well.

If you zoom in over a flyover, can you see the buildings like in street view? The flyover looks amazing if so.

Which fact? Apple's 100M listings or Google's 80M? I have no idea, but I would be kind of shocked and impressed if Apple had more listings than Google...

Oh please. Apple would/could never block sites in safari... Let's be realistic.

In fact, I'll eat my hat if Google hasn't released a Maps app on the app store by the end of the year. I'll be surprised if Google doesn't have one ready by the launch of iOS 6.
