Apple maps will improve overtime and you still have access to google maps. Most of the people on this site are crying over nothing and many are prob torlls

The maps are a lot worse than what we had before. It's not really crying over nothing, especially if they used to use them regularly.

My local supermarket is completely missing and my local pub is about 200 metres from where it actually is.

Out of interest, what does it look like in Google Maps?

It's not there on google maps and navteq maps (Garmin)

Wow I was hoping I didn't have to agree but apple maps really is very bad

In the last few days I've relied on maps to get me places. I was navigating across London today, I've got home and updated to ios6 and the new maps can't even find the location I went to earlier, a massive exhibition centre.

It doesn't seem to show the tube stations so its hard to figure out where you are and doesn't display the London boroughs and regions correctly.

It's London FFS!

Get to my home town and it can't even route to or find basic high street stores.

What a pile of junk. Why not just delay it and release maps later.

First time I've been a bit disappointed in apple.

It shows tube stations in London but they use the same icons as rail stations, which is stupid.

It most certainly will, but currently it is not very useful. In my area most stores, coffee shops etc. are placed at wrong location.

Three out of three addresses that I check for movie theaters in my area were wrong.... By about two MILES.

My city looks awful, the locations nearby have all either changed their name or closed down. Even our Westfield centre is under a different name that hasn't been used for at least 10 years...

Just updated to ios6. OMG..these maps are pathetic. luckily I have all the blobs saved. going back to IOS5

What a joke. Apple dun goofed.

LOL at everyone that thought Apple would somehow catch up to Google within couple of month.

Google are masters of data and web services, that's what they do.

They've spent a lot of money and time developing Google Maps, years of driving, mapping, correcting, tagging, etc...

They have the best and the most detailed maps right now. There is no way Apple is catching up to them, even with third party help.

This could be a blessing in disguise though, I hope Google releases a standalone Google Maps app. And if they do, it'll be iOS independent and hence more frequently updated and improved.

Mix that with Apple is pretty cheap in and of itself so I do not see them even paying for a good map back end. They got a crappy one to start with but they should of forked out the cashed and bought some good ones. Google spent the money and bought a lot of maps early on that they could improve apron.

Sorry your right, tube stations there but appearing as train icons

However look at this pic below

It's completely missing most of the Kensington tube stations, including the Kensington Olympia one and the Olympia exhibition centre that I went to today. According to apple maps it doesn't even exist. Very poor really.

Plus it's really hard to figure out where you are, no obvious borough names.

Seems the new trend from apple is everything beta :) whats next ? Iphone 6 as a whole will be a beta phone ?! :D

Give it time, Apple are going to get a lot of stick over this. Especially from the fandroids.

It just annoys me. Apple have some really good services and products such as iCloud, but the maps have made me look elsewhere for a phone.

Maps

This is another disaster from Apple , especially if you are in UK .
I dont like Apple telling me what i can or can't have .

Google street view was excellent , far better than this rubbish.

Hmmm I was pretty excited to check out Apple Maps and see for myself whether I liked it or not, and I'm definitely not happy with how little detail there is for buildings. The old Maps app had every building on my campus labeled, and now there's nothing at all.

Hopefully it gets updated with new information, but until then I'm going to keep my eye out for a potential Google Maps app :/

Just going to point out that Apple went with Tom Tom which when compare to Navteq (Garmin) maps time and time again Navteq maps are by far better in the US.

I'm not disagreeing entirely but for my area navteq kicks teleatlas's butt. I use a standalone unit in a company vehicle 8-10 hours a day an when my tomtom broke I picked up a Garmin nuvi 2350 and it was a breath of fresh air.

I just just figured all devices were that bad and it's just the way it was. Teleatlas was just dangerous sometimes sending me down the wrong way on one way streets in Baltimore. Wherever there is a navteq error there is a Teleatlas error, but not the other way around.

Apple could be in trouble here.

There's an #ios6apocalypse tag on twitter. Twitter has caused embarrassment to large companies before like McDonald's with the #mcdstories tag :p

Something I have been going on about for a while. It's odd that all the POIs are mostly closed or outdated names. It's like Yelp sold Apple the old crud data.

Once nice new feature of Apple Maps is that you can start typing the name of a contact and it will list his/her address. You couldn't do that in Google Maps, which was unfortunate.
