All the articles saying the supplies were short were just to boost demand. It happens every year. I got the 12 pro, and demand was pretty high. Most people don’t want a tablet in their pockets, so the 12, and 12 pro will always be more popular. This has always been the case, and this year is no different. I think the demand might even be less with the phone getting even bigger. Apple really needs to reign in the Max. It’s kind of ridiculous the size of it. It’s becoming more of niche product.
LOL. It's thinner than the 11 PM, same width, and 2mm taller. The size is no issue for people who want a larger iPhone.

Maybe not to you, but look around on the MR. more and more people want to try out the 12 pro because they max is too big. It’s a pretty obnoxious size. It always has been. The thickness has never been the issue. It’s the heigh. It’s like a surf board. Yes some people do want the bigger phone, but it’s a far cry was the favorite phone in the iPhone lineup. It’s still a much smaller number.

LOL again.

This size category has existed in the iPhone lineup since 2014. To imply it's a niche category is absolutely hilarious. If anything, many people are moving towards larger phones for their excellent battery life.

There is a strong market for all three iPhone sizes now.

The issue was actually thickness too. Many people have complained on MR that the 11 PM was too thick and heavy. A thinner iPhone will make it easier to hold weight-wise and will be more comfortable in a front pocket.

I work at Bestbuy Mobile and we sell the **** out of the Max iPhones. Especially in the last year everyone wants the larger display phones. iPhone Max, S20 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra, Fold 2. I dont think its just the screen size but the added features such as the better cameras etc on the larger screen devices because they are considered the "Premium line".

Wow no need to defend your phone choice. Chill a bit. It’s laughable that you feel the need to defend your iPhone of choice so badly. The max iPhone or plus iPhones have never been the best selling in the lineup, and think other wise is ridiculous. If anything less people are moving to Max than ever. Why was the mini made? Again you can enjoy your max, but it’s not the pick for most. It’s almost the size of the iPad mini. Quite ridiculous to carry in a pocket for me and for most people that need to have their phones in their pockets. Not convenient at all. And no battery life isn’t keeping people on the max because they try it, and it’s just too unwieldy for most.

I'm simply calling out your ridiculous claim that people are turning away from the Max line. That's absolutely ridiculous and not true. I truly could not care less what people choose to pick with respect to their iPhones.

The Mini was made because there is a strong market for all 3 sizes. As I already stated previously.

The Max is nowhere near the size of an iPad Mini. You are being ridiculous.

You need to realize that the Max size is thriving and not this niche category that you keep trying to paint it as. You are dead wrong when it comes to this iPhone size. Sure it's not for you or everyone. Of course. But it has an extremely strong and growing market.

I need to realize?! Hahaha ok.

Yeah keep thinking what you will. Again smaller market for the max than other iPhones. All the expects predicted that the iPhone 12 would take 40% and the rest would each take 20%. That puts the 6.1 size at 60% of the sales of the iPhone 12. Max at 20% being considerable smaller.

First half of 2020 they shipped over a million more 11 Pro Max than the regular Pro. It's not for me, but savages be using an iMax theater for their phone LMAO.

I am not comparing pro to pro max. I am comparing sizes of the screen. Look at the 11 and XR. Still the most popular by a long shot. That middle ground of 5.8-6.1 is where most people choose an iPhone.

Also first half of 2020 isn’t a good gauge of sales. The phones had pasted their initial peak sales. It should be more of the of the backend of 19 when the 11 series was introduced. Again 11, XR, and 11 pro are going to take most of the sales.

I must say I am surprised at 9:15 am (1 hour and 15 Minutes into Pre Order) all colors of the pro Max are still available for launch day delivery. Demand for the Pro Max must not be high this year?

Takes all the fun out of me snagging mine right at 8:01am lol.

Why is it that whenever this happens people say the demand must be low? Couldn’t it also mean that the supply is actually adequate?

I mean, why are we conditioned to think that the sign of a successful launch is the product being back ordered for months within minutes of going on sale? That’s actually a poorly planned launch when you think about it.

Apple sold more iPhone 11 Pro Max's versus 11 Pro's. The most popular iPhone was the 11, followed by the XR, then 11 Pro Max, then 11 Pro.

I never, ever, said the Max line sells as well as the flagship device. (The iPhone 11, now 12, etc.)

You have said from the start that the Max line is a niche device and that more people are leaving that category for smaller iPhones. That's simply not true. I can assure you the 12 Pro Max will outsell the 11 Pro Max.

Again, for the third time, there is a strong market for all 3 category sizes. I believe the 12 will be the best seller this year, followed by the Mini, Max, and then 12 Pro. But the difference in sales between the Mini and Max won't be huge. For all the people that want a Mini device, there are countless people that want a larger device for the best battery life, camera, screen experience.

You have clearly shown you are not a fan of this category ("it's as big as an iPad Mini") and it's clearly souring your outlook on this size category in general. Put you personal feelings about this size aside and understand there is a huge market for large phones. Both iPhone and Android.

Read my post, I never said the 11 pro or 12 pro were more popular than the max. I said the mid size phones where more popular. A larger market chooses the 5.8-6.1 iPhones. Those are facts. Look at the chart that was posted. If you combine the XR and 11, it’s 3x the sales of the Max. Combine that with the 11 pro, the 11 pro max is way down the list. This year consumers can choose from a pro or regular 12, or on a budget the 11, or XR. That 6.1 size will blow the max out.

Saw the same on AT&T. Did most people just go with normal Pro since it was sooner and Apple overestimated demand?

Graphite, Gold, and Pacific Blue (all storage options) have all slipped to Nov 20 - Nov 24.

Silver is still available for launch day delivery.

At what point did I ever say the Max line was more popular than the flagship line???

Of course those models outsold the Max. The Max is too big for many people and also, and here is an important factor too, it's much more expensive. The 11 and XR were $400 and $500 cheaper than the Max at their starting retail price. Price plays a large role in all this too.

The 12 PM will outsell the 12 Pro and won't be far behind the Mini either. (The Mini is also aided by its much cheaper starting price.) The 12 will outsell the Max because it's a better size for most people and it's cheaper.

None of these facts deter my original counter to you which is that the Max line is extremely popular and thriving in the iPhone lineup. It's not a surfboard. It's not losing ground yearly. It's not an iPad Mini. It's hugely successful and important to Apple.

Again my original point was it wasn’t the most popular, and it’s because of the size. Most of the iPhone market don’t want the max because of the size. That completely outweighs any of the benefits it has for most.
