I hadn't thought about an iPhone but my selection of non carrier branded phones (other OS) is becoming limited.
I might take a look.
Looks like it will either be the Essential phone or the new iPhone.
Very different phones. But if I have to buy a phone that is locked down.
It might as well be an iPhone.

What's more 'Pro' about the iPad Pro, though? I mean, more than the regular iPad?

I do see your point and I really don't mind if they call it Pro or Edition. You made me think that they might go Edition for the iPhone if they have a new version of the AW Edition.

For example ,The iPad Pro can at least function more with graphic design applications and the Apple Pencil could be used for designers or artists. It also has the smart connector for the external keyboard for conversion for more of a desktop experience or programs taking advantage of that. Really, it comes down to what the user can accomplish with the power and efficiency the iPad Pro, and applications that allow them to further their work experience.

That's a good point. Maybe Pro isn't the right direction for a phone.

Considering the new iOS 11 videos demonstrate an iPhone 7 functioning without a home button & countless prototypes appearing with rear facing Touch ID.

I think there could be a slight chance that Apple is going all out on eliminating the front home button experience on the entire line-up this year.

My prediction; (come back here after the event & see!)

iPhone 7s - renamed to iPhone, without home button and rear-facing Touch ID

iPhone 7s Plus - renamed to iPhone Plus, without home button and rear-facing Touch ID

iPhone X Edition - OLED, “bezel-less” design with Face ID only.

And all the above mentioned iPhones will also make magnetic charging the norm, with ceramic backs.

I doubt it. I don't think Apple will want to miss the opportunity to have an iPhone numbered 8, given the significant value Chinese and surrounding cultures attaches to it.

Nothing really new.. Wireless charging and bezel less screen?

The Face ID isn't directly implanted on the phone, but on the iOS itself...

Well currently there aren’t any phones out with a bezel less screen or true wireless charging...

It's sad that some of you literally will spend almost 1 thousand for a new phone! All I see is bunch of "Yesmen" to Apple. Now let's take at some of the "biggest" new stuff..

Face ID - How many of you said back in June "I won't buy it unless Touch ID is in the screen.."

Wireless charging - Are we humans getting more lazier? Is it hard to plug in a small cable into your phone? Imagine if we, today, had to use a "pad" just to charge our phones? And all of a sudden, Apple brought small little cables into the world. "Apple is the BEST I SWEAR"!

Bezel less - I give credit to that..

Notification center - Are you really that geeky? They do this every year.

Full of people that won't lead the crowd, but follow the crowd!

(If this is your first iPhone or you're upgrading from 6/6s, I don't mind you).

No Touch ID on the front of the phone is a no buy for me. I’ve owned every single iPhone to date but the Touch ID is something I use dozens of times a day, and in ways to unlock my phone or authenticate purchases face ID can not replicate. For starters, I use my phone in complete darkness at night time in my room, I know they said it will have sensors, but I seriously doubt these sensors can see my face clearly when it’s pitched black. Another scenario is me driving and I have to unlock my phone quickly for my girlfriend who’s holding it in the passenger seat. I extend my finger over to her, and she moves the phone Touch ID to my finger to unlock it. I don’t have to turn my head or take my eyes off the road for a second.

I don’t care how much more secure it is than Touch ID, because if this is going to make using the phone more difficult, less convenient or unsafe in some situations, it simply isn’t worth the trade off. Apple needs to suck it up and improve Touch ID, make it faster, more secure and built into the screen (if possible).

Remember Steve Jobs used to say it isn’t all about technology alone, but both technology and liberal arts. It’s a crossroad where Apple has been centered around and when making products it’s focused on both ideas. Apple makes well rounded products, I don’t think they will go astray. It’s really old but if you google Apple and crossroad and liberal arts you will find the old keynote where he mentioned it.

Is this going to be a mostly iPhone, Watch, TV product announcement?

I'm hoping to hear something about the iPad Mini, iPod Touch, and any updates on the iMac Pro. I know, none of these are the "new, shiny" but I'll be replacing my current devices soon. iPad Pro doesn't cut it for me.

Note that Apple has been laying down a fully grown lawn around Steve Jobs Theatre and the spaceship’s main entrance while around the rest of Apple Park, grass is being planted and/or seeded. They’re clearly expecting visitors very soon and can’t wait for grass to grow naturally around those event spaces.

Uhhh doesn't matter the size. All Apple keynotes will be held there in every future event except maybe WWDC. It's kinda why they built it.

Exactly. People forget that Apple used to hold major announcements in their tiny 300 seat Town Hall. The iPod was announced there as were some major iPhone updates like the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5s, and iPhone SE. The famous Phil Schiller “Can’t innovate my ass” Mac Pro reveal was there too.

The 1000 seat Steve Jobs Theatre is more than large enough to accommodate the world’s media which is what the September events are traditionally for.

I absolutely so knew this was gonna happen ....
They're moving so slow on that site, that I so knew
that there was no way in hell they would have a September event there.
I bet it won't even be finished until Thanksgiving.

Surprise me!
Honestly - please, surprise me! What can we expect?
An iPhone 8 without an embedded TouchID (imagine Steve Jobs going mad about this)
No decent Macbook Pro with >= 32GB of RAM and a replaceable SSD
No decent Mac Pro

Well, I just configured a nice hackintosh. I really don't want to, but there is nothing Apple offers to Pro users at the moment. But maybe they present something at the keynote?

Would love it if they create a digital or animatronic likeness of Jobs to unveil the anniversary iPhone. Maybe Cook will announce his resignation. I would like to see Ahrendt's as CEO sooner rather than later.

Except that they have traditionally invited much larger crowds to the iPhone event. Not just media. And since they are likely to include the watch, and TV, they will invite non-traditional tech media, including style and fashion reporters, and TV/Stereo media reps as well. They could send all the Apple engineers and executives away from the event, but they are usually their, including VIPs, now from the world of Tech, Commerce, Fashion, Telecommunications, Entertainment, Music, and on and on.

But thank you for pointing out the landscaping around the front entrance and "food court" area, as that supports my theory that they can always hold a remote expanded audience there, as well as the display area.

Can I ask why the hell you're even here if you're just going to complain about people buying expensive Apple products, to people who buy expensive Apple products?

same here but anyone on AUP or similar upgrade program would only be paying an additional $4-$8 extra a month - so it wouldn't be too much of stretch to go for the OLED phone.

My reason is screen size. I really want 5.5 inch screen.
